  1. It was more than just the tyres though, it was wheel-size too. The test car was a Walky wagon, and they were comparing the stock wheels to the option package (something like 19" to 20"), with overall diameter still the same.
  2. A lot of new cars tend to have them moulded into the rear windscreen.

    Filling up

The old addage "Better to be safe than sorry" also applies. Big woop about not being able to use mobile phones whilst you're filling up, it takes all of 5 minutes to do. A general rule of "no use of electronic equipment of any kind near flammable/volatile chemicals" is a pretty standard rule in industry.
  4. Scroll down to the very bottom of the window, and theres a button which says "Mark Board As Read". It's waaaaay out of the way, but it is there.

So much for the Jazz holding off the Lakers......I think the word "speedbump" comes to mind. I used to like the Cowboys....then I hated them.....then I kinda-ish started to like them. Kick-**** TV in their stadium though. Still a Jaguars/Redskins fan though, which sucks 'cause neither tend to have the best winning records, but that's because they're both in tough divisions. Occasional Saints supporter too, especially last year (then again I support anyone who's playing against the Colts).
  7. ^ This. The US actually use AKI (Anti Knock Index), which is the average of MON and RON (sometimes displayed as (R+M)/2). Their "regular" is 87 AKI which is equivalent to our 91 RON, their "premium" is 93 AKI which is equivalent to our 98 RON.
  8. This. 100 Nm feels surprisingly low when you actually use the torque wrench for the first time. Using a breaker bar you can easily get 190 N; which if you were the bloke next to me at the last track day stuffed his aluminium (or whatever) nuts. An expansion on those rules is this - remember that if you have to change a tyre by the side of the road, you need to be able to do it with a standard tyre iron etc. 100Nm is about what you can put on one of those easily (most of the time when I do up my wheel nuts I do it with an iron/cross, and then the very last bit with the torque wrench, which is rarely more than 20-30 degrees. If you put it on with a breaker bar, chances are you'd need one to get it off (same goes with rattle guns), and most people don't carry breaker bars around with them in the boot :P
  9. 8.5 hours would seriously be pushing it, took about that long to get from the GC to Newcastle when we came back a couple of months ago, and it's an extra hour and a half to Sydney from here. Would depend on stops/driver changes/speed/traffic though, and the state of the roadworks.
  10. Not sure mate, just using a breaker bar & socket...i know every time i nip them up i do them as tight as possible,if i went any harder i reckon i could snap a wheel stud,so there pretty tight. i checked em again yesterday and the were still as tight as a drum, now i'm thinking that maybe with these type/style of wheel nuts they need a second tighten after a couple of 100km's after fitting,or maybe it's just my setup. hopefully someone thats used or using similar lightweight alloy wheelnuts can confirm my theory or squash it. ;) Rule number one with wheel nuts of any kind - always torque them up with a torque wrench if possible. For steel wheel nuts, it should be roughly 100Nm (alloy ones might be more or less). Rule number two with wheel nuts is to always re-torque them after a short period of driving, as when you initially torque them they haven't gone through a proper load cycle.

Jazz-man here, going up against the Lakers in round 2 isn't exactly ideal, but I can imagine a lot of people would be happy if we won (no-one wants to play the Lakers)
  13. 'Low dust' has no definition; low compared to what? Dixcel tend to cost more than the Project Mu too. Dixcel are quality also. Agreed, my Greenstuff box says "low dust" but they can still turn my front wheels black in 2 weeks. They do a great job of pulling the car up though...
  14. Could be used for running old tyres in practice/testing etc, or the wheel has copped a bashing (you'd be surprised how much they'd get hammered with going over ripple-strips etc at 200+km/h) and since they're so light, even the slightest buckle will throw the weights out.
  15. I've done that before (albeit with separate remote and dumb-key), the key goes in a clip-lock bag in a tight pocket (or one with a zip), and the remote gets hidden or locked in the dash - you use the key to unlock the doors, then use the remote to disable the immobiliser.
  16. Australia only has one spec - the 195kw twin-turbo. So if I had to hazard a guess, wherever you are from there is also the single-turbo model (which shares the engine from the 70-series)
  17. Neither of which are RPGs by the way - GoW is a third-person shooter, Saints Row is a third-person action, ie a Grand Theft Auto clone.
  18. hey SD, i think diablo was closer to the strategy game rather than RPG but u could level up on spells (i used magician :D ). red alert 2 was definitely a strategy game, that was cool too :) Diablo is an RPG with simplified character development and extra action. Red Alert is a real-time strategy game, not even close to an RPG :P

  20. You can buy other brands from Bob Jane, you know..... No way! Thanks for the tip. Bob Jane only sell tyres! So the dozens of different wheels they have on display are only for decoration?

  24. Ever since camshafts took that giant evolutionary step out of the ocean (block) and onto land (head), us educated people have referred to them as cam-covers :P
