  1. Is it independant front end or leaf spring?? If you need more clearance for tyres on leaf spring buy longer shackles and get the greasable ones. If it is independant then personally i would go with slightly heavier torsion bars and adjust them up a bit then make sure you get the ball joint spacers to adjust everything as far as geometry goes. there are a few crowds who make complete trailing arms with modified ball joints for lift kits too. to go bigger tyres than 10r's you will need a lift kit. I'm running 10r's atm and it is on the limit as far as room in the wheelarch is concerned. Mudflaps are close to the tyre plus with the suspension compressed down to the limit It just clears everything nicely. i was going to put 33's on it but my wife drives it to work and with bigger tyres and lift it won't fit in the undercover car park which is a pain as the roof racks also have to come off after a trip away too.
  2. Sounds like opinion to me. Mate your right!!! Top of the class to you my young Friend. a lot of people use Coilovers for the right reason(track work etc etc or ride ghetto low) but simply put them in cause they think they are better than springs and shocks combo. Unfortunately cheap coilovers are exactly that.. cheap rubbish. for the same money you can get good quality shocks and springs. That is my point. I got everything I wanted for consierably less than the quote for Koni's and Kings in this thread. Installed them myself, gained valuable experience being only a young fella, and I've played with the height and damping twice already. Can't help myself Yes Tayles and you are from a Motorsport Family correct?? You guys DO compete regularly and installed them for the "right" reasons. Superdave... what can we say? Hardcore? Well when he is on the track yes. But when he is on the street he is the red head soft spoken well mannered "superdave" all the girls want to take home to meet the parents.
  3. Big thanks goes to Bob Jane T Marts Springwood for coming on board as a sponsor for the Show And Shine.
  4. Yep there will be some Celica's in attendance. you got under 3 weeks before the event.
  5. silva..r those adjustable koni's? Yes they are. Do you really need any other sort of adjustment on your suspension unless you are at the track all the time??? How many people on here with coilovers actually adjust their set up once they have it installed??? Personally i think a lot of people buy them just to say " I got coilovers" and never use the abilities that coilovers offer. Once they are installed and set then 90% of the time that is the setting that they remain in. I can appreciate the features that coilovers possess but most people never ever use them. you can fine tune your set up when you install them which you can also do to a degree with adjustable koni's/springs but from what i see on this forum is people impulse buying just so they can have a set of coilovers. most have the wrong spring rates, dampers incorrectly set then it rides too harsh too soft and then peeps get on here saying my car does this or this and want others to fix it for them. If you do not plan on going to the track and utilising coilovers to the best of their ability then just go with good adjustable struts and springs. You can achieve the same results with them as coilovers as far as set up goes cause you can adjust the dampers to suit ride quality. there is less to go wrong as you don't have to worry about pillow mounts flogging out, spring retainers moving or coming loose and changing ride height. Hell my sportivo set up on Kings and Koni's with some Whitline gear handled every bit as good as any car running on coilovers. I am a fan of using the right equipment for the right job. coilovers are not meant for street use and are more motorsport oriented hence the tuning ability so it you aren't using your car for motorsport all the time then why get them unless you want the "brag" factor of telling everyone that you have coilovers. don't mean to offend anyone but hate seeing people spend money on totally unnecessary items.
  6. not hard to change insurances companies mate.
  7. For what?? Someone to put all your mods on for the track day then take them off again??? What about RACQ for some roadside assistance LOL
  8. Mate don't think anyone here has even thought about doing anything like that yet. To be honest I have had a set of lowered springs for sale on here for about 2 months or so and still no bites so maybe new Corolla owners are a bit on the scared side of modding things....
  9. Did you get a run with toruqe curve guys?? Be interested to have a look see at it if you did. Great results boys and nothing better than turning up to a dyno day run by another make of car and beating them hands down. Some of us Brissy boys did it at a Mazda dyno day a few years back. Beat all Mazda's a N/a Supra and the only thing that beat us was a 5.0 VN SS Commodore with some mild work. Congrats on the good results.
  10. Any of the QLd guys/girls wanting CAI and/or exhaust done then give CES a call. They have designed the catback systems and CAI's for the Corolla and the Corolla Sportivo as well as designing a CAI for the new Corolla so would certainly be happy to help Aurion owners out. There number is 07 3200 2333.
  11. Be good to see you there mate. The more of a mix of cars we have the better it will become.
  12. I think you would be surprised how much power you would get iwht some properly made headers, collecotrs and exhaust system. Add a properly made CAI and the gains would be there. They said the same about the Sportivo Corolla so I went ahead and spent the coin and got the gains. 9kw atw from cat back, 4 kw from CAI and another 5 odd kw from headers and a heap of mid range torque.
  13. so will this nice looking Aurion be attending the National Meet in a few weeks time?? Be good to see a few more Aurions out and about.
  14. A big thanks to Performance Decals and Signs for coming on board as a sponsor for the National Meet show and shine.
  15. I'd say that ok mate albeit some of your wires a tad bit long.
  16. that's no good as it will all be over by then :P
  17. If you can't afford decent coilovers then go with koni adjustables and a good spring combo. It will be about the price of cheap coilovers without the worry about them stuffing up in a short space of time.
  18. Not too bad a price. I sell koni's for $1030 and Kings for $225. Add $50 for alignment(RRP) and I usually charge about $230 to fit it all. total for me to do it is $1535 so what you are getting charged isn't too bad at all as you are prolly paying more to buy the stuff straight up.
  19. My genuine wipers lasted me 3 and half years before I replaced them. They actually started to die on the trip to Sydney last year for the National Meet. Mind you it rained constantly from about Ballina all the way to Sydney and around the Newcastle area it was heavy as. Flooding, ships running aground etc etc but we still made it.
  20. some of the auto shops like repco or coventry sell wurth stuff. good quality products. i use them regularly at work. not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
  21. Micky I'm going in september and doing shotover jet, helicopter flight to frans josef glacier then doing the hike on the glacier and into the ice caves. brother in law's parents are there now and did the hike last weekend. he's been in the army for years and reckon it was the best thing he has ever done. i'm also doing milford sound and looking around where they filmed Lord of the rings. doing some skiing etc etc somewhere that is supposed to be the best place for it. i'll find out some more info off the wife as she has been there before. i'm going with a group of friends so it should be good fun. i have been nominated "the driver" as I don't drink so that the rest of them can. Best thing is i wake up in the morning feeling great ready for another day and everyone else will have sore heads LOL
  22. big thanks to the sponsors of the show and shine so far..... Autobarn Logan City Garry Moltzen Motor Trimmer Torque Toyota
  23. Out for me too. am currently organising the national meet as well as another event which is becoming pretty taxing on the spare time. National meet is only 3 weeks away!!!!!!
  24. wouldn't bother restting the stock springs. someone on here bought a sportivo with them done and it rides badly and has "issues" with spring bind.
