  1. Hi Bill Yes it is a brand. Mother's is a rival brand to Meguiars in the states. I do use most of the Meguiars products for detailing but have found the Mother's product for leather easier to use and less time consuming. Because in my line of work as a detailer time is money! Autobarn or Supercheap stock it. Any other queries let me know and Ill try to help. Cheers SILVABULLIT.
  2. It seems there could be pro's and con's for both sides of the coin. I'm not going to take sides on this one as I'm new to this forum and don't know what has happened in the past or how these sort of conflicts are resolved. But I will say this - My perception of a moderator is to keep the forum proactive in encouraging members to help members with info on car related topics. Everyone has an opinion and a right to free speech. But I think some of us need to think before we act(I mean type!) in the way we are quick to tell someone their idea/opinion/info is wrong, but if it's us who is being told we're wrong we are quick to get on our high horse and go on the rampage and tear strips off people who do that. Maybe some of us need to take the log out of our own eye before we take the splinter out of someone else's. Moderator's comments I think should always have the forum's best interests at heart and be as constructive as possibile. By the same token moderators don't know everything and are only human so lets learn to admit that sometimes we're wrong in what we say no matter what the position we hold - whether your just a pleb member like me or the super of super moderators. The guys who are moderators are there for a reason- they probably know the most about our cars and how to mod them. So lets listen to what they say and show some respect and in return they'll do you the common courtesy and return the favour. Remember we get onto this forum for one reason - that's to chat to people who own the same car as we do. Not to bicker like a bunch of small children fighting over who's the leader and who's got the best car. Just remember he who dies with the most toys still dies. Think about it. Good luck to whoever sorts this out SILVABULLIT :D
  3. Hey Guys CES will make headers for sportivo and probably cheaper than TRD ones. None as yet have been made but it's only a matter of before someone wants some. From looking at TRD ones they have basically the same configuration as the factory item but with slightly larger pipes. CES can make headers from a picture you supply or to your own custom requirements. You could make them with longer primary pipes to increase torque or short pipes as the factory ones are with the 4-2-1 style pipe. They look like 4 into 1 but the secondary pipe or collector has a divider down the middle. Two cylinders pair into one side and two into the other thus forming the 4-2-1 style. CES say this is becoming common on late model Jap cars as it requires less room for pipes/collectors etc. If you didn't know that then you do now! Any other queries about headers contact CES on 07 3200 2333 and ask to speak to Trevor. Cheers SILVABULLIT.
  4. Hey Blackrolla, Mobil 1 synthetic is a good oil but expensive. The only thing I don't like about using a full synthetic oil is cold start as the oil very thin it tends to drain to the bottom of the engine, thus when starting the engine has to pump a larger volume of oil back to the top of the motor as most of it has drained back to the sump. The other thing is you will tend to hear more engine noise as the oil is a lot thinner and passes through moving parts easier than a thicker mineral based oil. Obviously your oil light will take a fraction longer to go out on start up due to the engine having to pump oil all around the engine again. A mineral based oil is thicker and tends not to drain back to the sump as quickly therefore oil pressure is achieved quicker on start up. As with most arguments there are pros and cons. A full synthetic oil uses less engine power to be pumped around the engine due to the oil being thinner and consequently your car will produce slightly more power. A mineral oil will keep your engine quieter, but may take that little more power to be pumped around. Another thing is your climate. Colder climate tends to favour a synthetic and a hotter climate favours a mineral oil. Oils do thin and thicken with differing temps, so depending on the climate, driving conditions, whether you like a slightly quieter engine or want that little extra power these are the things that I consider when buying oil for my car. Any full synthetic will cost around the $10 - $15 litre depending on brand name. My personal preferance is Penrite. I use HPR15 which is a semi synthetic at a reasonable price. You do have slightly more engine noise but is still heavy enough to cope with the weather conditions I drive in with regards to high temps etc. Any how that's my opinion but I hope I've been able to make your choice a little easier. 5. Mother's make an easy to use leather cleaner/conditioner. it contains citrus oils to keep leather supple as well as cleaning any dirt/stains etc from seats. It leaves the seat with no sheen or gloss, no greasy residue just nice clean leather. IT's in a red bottle with a pump style nozzle on it. Any other q's on car maintainence - polishing etc drop me line and i'll point you in the right direction. Cheers SILVABULLIT.
  6. Hi everyone, Just a quick note that I need to know definates for those interested in putting your car on the dyno. There are only 7 spots available now as some have already booked in - big thanks to those of you who have. I will ask that the money be paid the week prior to the date to avoid confusion and extra work on the day. So if your interested let me know ASAP and I'll book you in to guarantee you a spot. Please remember this is an event to promote our cars, so come along and see what your car or someone else's does on the same dyno, and let's compare results for the good of not just improving our cars performance but building comradery amongst STIVO (and Levin!) drivers. Cheers SILVABULLIT :D
  7. It seems that I've caused a bit of a stir among some of you who obviously have been posting on this forum for a long time. You probably want to know who I am, what I do and what I know etc etc. I run my own business RBT DETAILING AND MOTORSPORT. I am regarded as one of the best car detailers in Brisbane and have helped many people's rides win trophies at shows -- Jamboree, Auto Salon and various car club concourses. I have worked in the automotive industry for about 13 -14 years so I consider my knowledge to be substantial on many car related topics. My father is a mechanic of nearly 40 years experience and has been modifying cars before some or all of us for that matter were born. My unlce also builds race cars, engines and fabricates any part that he needs for a particular job. There's a substantial wealth of knowledge to draw on. Apart from detailing I source and supply aftermarket parts for customers from the many friends and acquaintances I have in the industry. I can organise anything from a set of king springs to a full interior retrim from a show quality motor trimmer. In saying all that, please don't perceive me to be a big noting big mouth who's jumped on the forum and told you that you all know nothing. Far from the truth. I have already picked a quite a bit of creditable info from certain moderators whom are guys just like myself - know their craft as far as a STIVO is concerned. The exhaust system is something I've put a lot of work into not to mention the effort of CES and without their assistance this wouldn't be possible. I'm not trying to get everyone to buy one. I've had many enquiries on many aspects of this system from moderators and members and I'd like to say thanks for even giving me chance to show you guy's what I can do to help everyone make their Stivo that little bit better or faster or whatever. I will endeavour to become more computer literate and not post in the wrong place(sorry MR MOD) and hopefully this week I will get some dyno sheets posted on the forum for your persual. So in closing can everyone stop getting heated with each other over certain "comments" about the system and instead dwell on the positives of this not the negatives. Thanks for hearing me out. Cheers Silvabullit PS. Thanks to those who came out and cruised last night - Northy, Hames, Danthuyer and MAP81. Had a great time chatting to you all. Look forward to the next time. :D
  8. Hey QLD people Anyone on the Coast this weekend especially Saturday night. I'm on the coast for the weekend and was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up for a bit of a cruise on Saturday night? Message me if your interested. Cheers SILVABULLIT
  9. Hi everyone I Forget to tell you in the previous message that if you are coming to the dyno day/ show/n/shine that you need to be wearing shoes and socks or some form of enclosed footwear. Otherwise you won't be able to enter the workshop due to workplace health and safety requirements. Dyno spots are already filling so contact me asap. Cheers SILVABULLIT :D
  10. I have this system fitted to my stivo with a k&n panel filter and have now got 109.3kw at the wheels. Good enough to smoke a S14 200 update model, new mini cooper s and give a nicely modified 02 rex a good run for his money! :D
  11. I run my own business - RBT Detailing and Motorsport. We specialise in detailing luxury, sports, rare and collectables and show car preparation for those with late model modified cars or hot rods etc etc. We also supply aftermarket performance parts and do some cylinder head porting and polishing.
  12. Hi to all Stivo peddlers out there. Custom Exhaust Specialists and RBT Motorsport have been doing some research and design on an exhaust system for a Stivo for about 2 months. We have had success and plenty of it. A system from the cat back(standard cat is great and has ample flow) in either stainless or mild steel with a large resonator in the middle and a custom made rear muffler. The system is flanged so you can bolt the original system back on if the need be from the cat back or just the rear muffler section. Back to back dyno runs showed and increase of 9kw at the wheels. Quite a noticable difference all over the rev range. Noise levels are legal as tested by CES and there's no droneing, cackling or the infamous 4cyl twin cam noise at the top end. All in all a great system that I think most of you would love to see and hear. If you want to know more then come to the following SATURDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 8AM. CUSTOM EXHAUST SPECIALISTS UNIT 2 78 NESTOR DRIVE MEADOWBROOK QLD. 4131 Trevor has been nice enough to open his workshop for the morning to show everyone this system as well as a cold air pickup for use with the standard airbox for those concerned with warranty issues.(pickup completion subject to extreme workload). For those who are interested he has a dyno in which for the measly sum of $25 we can set your pride and joy up and see what power it produces. There is only enough time for 10 cars to be done so email SILVABULLIT with your details as first in best dressed applies. RBT Detailing & Motorsport have been kind enough to donate some trophies for a mini show/n/shine for those wishing to display their cars in a show sense. Please let everyone know about this day as the more who attend and make it successful the more chance we have of being able to host an event like this in the future. If someone out there would like to help me organise this that would be greatly appreciated as I don't know too many of you at the moment. There is the possibility that those of you from the northside and southside of town can meet at two points and cruise down to CES in a convoy? If you require any other info drop me a line(silvabullit) or you can call RBT on 0412 559 592(Brennden) Thanks for your support Cheers SILVABULLIT B)
  13. Hey everyone I've had a bad run so far with my dealer for the following reasons. I'm a car detailer in Brisvegas so my car goes to them spotlessly clean so when I pick it up I can note any possibile damage.( Used to work for Honda/ Nissan dealership and know what goes on in the workshop) A failsafe method which always works in your favour. I've had 3 services done so far and every time it's been washed (badly) and had my chrome wheels sprayed with their crap tyre shine. Not happy Jan! As had been commented about rotating wheels etc - I said not to remove the wheels as they are balanced on the car. My wheels are an open five spoke design so inspecting the brakes(also very clean) is easily done without removing them. I also hate the use of a rattle gun on my wheels due to the ease of which damage does occur. I leave the socket for my wheelnuts in the car for them to use by hand if necessary. Now have no socket! I was asked if I wanted the hand brake adjusted. I said no it was holding fine. Guess what? Got adjusted. My tyres have nitrogen in them and the pressures are set and don't really need to be checked. They checked them and reckon they needed air, so they put air in not nitrogen. I supply all the parts for my service as I have a trade account for my business. When I picked my car up the last time I got charged for parts. Numb nuts! Another thing - set tripmeter - last service the service advisor told me just how well my car goes! I know what happens to a nicely modified car when it comes in for a service from my previous employment and there is always a fight between the mechanics over who gets to work on it and take it for the obligatory thrash session (road test) for that noise you heard coming around a corner at low speed. Mechanic couldn't hear it - over the engine screaming it's tit's off at 8000rpm in each gear! Don't say you weren't warned! Not all dealerships are that bad - probably about 75%! Happy servicing silvabullit :D
  14. Hey Everyone, Those of you interested in the headlight covers they are the standard toyota items masked and painted. If you think it would be quick and easy then think again. To do it properly you have to back mask the entire protector, then prime, paint and then put clear over the colour. You could do it quicker if you are dodgy, but to make them look good and match the gloss on the rest of the car then allow yourself a good couple of hours. Remember - good preparation and patience equals a good result. Everyone who has seen them so far thinks they look great plus the added benefit of protecting an expensive headlight to replace. Cheers Silvabullit :D
  15. Hey I'm keen to come along and check out everyone's stivo's as well as show mine off. Keep me in the loop as to what's going down and i'd like to contribute to outings/events as I've been a member of a lot of car clubs and have a few ideas and a lot of contacts in the automotive industry etc etc. Cheers Silvabullit :D
  16. Hey count me in so long as I get enough notice so as to plan something for the wife to do as it's her car i'm using! What are the possibilities? Friday night/Saturday night or during the day on the weekend? Please let me know. Cheers Silvabullit :D
  17. Hey stivo drivers. I own the stivo jc went for a ride in last weekend and have convinced him to buy one with a hottish lap around my suburb. I have a silver 03 stivo, lowered kings, 17 inch chrome zepters, exhaust system by ces racing and some tasteful cosmetic exterior changes. My business and ces are currently working on a cai system now that the exhaust system is sorted with great results.(9kw increase at wheels). I'm keen to meet up with other owners to chat and possibily exchange info if you offer the right amount of money! only joking. Is there someone in Brisvegas who can organise a cruise etc? I know of a couple of others who would probably come too. Cheers Silvabullit
