  1. I'm with your line of reasoning on that one, Tayles.

I asked a Toyota doody a few months ago what the story was regarding airbag-friendly seat covers, and his reply was simply.... a shrug.

There are no airbags inside the seat (or you would be catapulted out the car)

There are no airbags right underneath the seat (unless you drive KITT, in which case try spot your house)

Anyway, I don't think the average seat cover would stand up to the force of an airbag. Surely, for the most part, it would just rip it aside?

  2. Heh - awesome idea for JDM - eyelids, grilles, lights, and introducing the new, improved... exchangeable dashboards!

You too can keep up with the latest incarnation of dashboard! Why replace dials, gauges and meters when you can do the whole kit and kaboodle...

Look, it's been a long day. I had special people in today, and it's really taken it out of me.

Still, it would be interesting to get customised dashies and consoles.

  3. I have PPs. but am reluctant to put them on my rolla.

Reason being that I had them on a 96 Lancer GLXi, and it got broken in to no less than 4 times with the plates on, but not a single time without them.

You also have to live with the fact that if you annoy someone (purposely or otherwise), that they will forever know your plates and thus car. You stand a good chance of getting away with shenanigans with regular plates.

Mind you, my plates did read "Defiant1"!!! :toast: FTW.

  4. We as Toyota drivers don't seem to:

    1) Organise hoon events (unless i'm not invited to them)

    2) Btich incessantly on the forum and at each other (unless I don't see it or ignore it)

    3) Drive at breakneck speeds on public roads (unless you're smart enough not to gloat over it)

Is it the Toyota image that 'tames' us (in contrast to other brands)?

    Image the Volvo forum then...

    TOYOTA: Reliable cars, smart drivers.

1 No you're not invited now f@#k off

    2 Yes we do you f@##$n d@#k a@#$##e

    3 Refer to point 1.

:D :P  Only joking mate.

I agree smart, respectful drivers and relatively small friendly forum makes ours so much better. :D

Damn. I haven't laughed like that in a while!

  6. its because we don't want to draw that kinda of attention on ourselves. there's nothing wrong with admiring nice cars....but good to make less of a scene when in a big group. so we might stick to the quieter suburbs and good old winding back roads to get to our destinations...........:D

Agreed. Call me naive, but the last thing we need is gang sort of stuff happening (eg holden vs ford, us vs them).

Others (non-TOCAs) may not realise that we just want to put faces and cars to names.

Speaking of which, should we notify the police if we gather in large numbers? Perhaps Today Tonight??? (they're always looking for good stories...) LOL.

  7. Ya, i never used to be a fan, but then diorama came out, and i couldna believe it was silverchair.

very orchestral, with lotsa different sounds adding depth and richness to their tunes.

  8. What about we head down to Genolin caves? I can see it now - 20-30 cars heading down *that* road...

Jenolin caves would be good, but would we go there just for the twisties? or do the loop back to oberon? or go back the same way we came?

could head out to Mt panarama from there?

geeezzzz, ALL THESE IDEAS!!!!! I think my head will explode in 3....2...1...............BANG!!!!!

Even better, half of us can use one entrance to Jenolin (better spelling, eh), and the others use the alternative, and see who gets there first. Then we can do the reverse on the way out!!! Mt Panorama??? Brilliant idea. If someone could organise a track day I think a few more souls would appear?!

  9. Thank that guardian angel looking over your shoulder!

(I believe they are Toyota part SH3W or PH3W)

Live to drive another day, Samuel. Try not to let it replay through your head to much about how else you could have handled it (I know from experience). Just be thankful you walk away with nothing more than replacing an inconsequential piece of plastic.

  10. Riiiiight

Then it would be a surprise to say that i'm paying $400 comp cover, with a $400 excess. Sure it's bundled, but that's still pretty damn cheap! Agreed value is $27120.

    WQBe FTW?

Its cheap because they obviously dont budge on mods. Im more than happy to pay an extra $300 per year over what you pay so I can have . . . . . . CAI, Konis, Springs, Alpine Audio etc etc etc etc.

Horses for courses, if you dont want to mod your car, WQBE FTW, if you do . . . . . then you know the answer.

Very true - point taken. I think my philosophy these days is to wait and see what happens in 2008 with respect to work. If work is good and pays more, then the rolla is my oyster and i will spend all that is necessary for it to reach its true potential (play moving music in the background!).

I guess in the mean time, the car is stock and i'm saving up for the mods. It's a nice compromise for now. When I figure out what is going on, i will return to this thread and ask which companies are offering the best deals by you guys (keeping in mind the car will be in perth by then), and so it will begin...
