  1. I'm just wondering, maybe Steve can answer this ... do we have any figures on people who join TOCA just to sell stuff, i.e. that's their only contribution to the Forums? The reason I ask is that I know some other forums restrict people from selling items on the forums until they've been a member for a while and have contributed to the forums, so that you can't just use them to sell goods ... they consider people who have just joined to sell, even if they're a bona fide individual, as a trader, and therefore the usual trader rules should apply if they wish to do so. By doing that, they also give credibility to the seller. A member is likely to feel much more comfortable buying an item from an established member than if they were buying from someone they don't know with only 1 or 2 posts to their name. As I say, I don't know if this is a problem for TOCA, but if it is, maybe such a restriction is a viable option. Cheers.
  2. MMM 2ZZ ute with rear wheel drive...... that's what I'm talking about !!!!!! Bring it on Mr Gen3 holden ute owner :P 2ZZ ... :) RWD ... :D Holden bits ... <_< I know that the tray lid kinda looks Holdenish, but the same thing is available for pretty much any ute on the market, so I'll call it universal. Thankfully, other than that, oO_CorollaSportivo03_Oo's rendition is all Toyota! B)
  3. I wonder if the electronic throttle has any impact on that? Do you think it helps or hinders progress? One would assume that the electronics can think and/or move faster than a mechanical process, so in theory the electronics should be more responsive. The other thing, I guess, is variables motor-to-motor ... for example, there is a fair discrepancy between at-the-wheel kW for Sportivo's, as much as 10kW variance. Therefore, if the on-paper difference between 1ZZ's amounts to 4 or 5kW at the wheel, is it not possible that some "93kW" engines could actually produce more power than some "100kW" engines? I know I sound picky, but I'm enjoying learning what I learn from these forums.
  4. especially with your new high power mod :D the mud flaps they crated more interest on Thursday night than the CES headers and CAI :P or was that because they had Toyota advertised all over them No, I think its more that you guys are a bunch of $m@rt@r$e$!
  5. My only concern with the Yaris T-Sport is that the Yaris we have now is only marginally lighter than the Corolla ... one would expect the T-Sport to be fully loaded, so the power to weight ratio isn't going to be too flash, whether it has 93 or 100kW. I'd be taking a test drive as soon as they arrive, if they do come here.
  6. True, but Qld can get colder than Vic at times, too ... the point is that Qld is consistently a warmer climate than Melb. You make an excellent point about your CES system ... you've noticed an improvement by having it. Whether that's good value to you or not depends on yourself, but I think too many people put too much credence on a certain kW increase with mods. I wouldn't have a clue how many kW my panel filter and sports exhaust have added, but its definitely improved the drivability and sound of the car ... so I'm rapt. Someone else might have dynoed it before and after and seen 1kW on the screen, and to them it might be a waste of time as a result. Here's an interesting question ... has anyone compared a 100kW Rolla with the 93kW version? 7kW diff at the flywheel should mean, say, 4-5kW diff at the wheels (uneducated guesstimate) ... I wonder how many people can pick the difference by seat-of-the-pants :)
  7. I can answer one of your questions, in regard to your "fuel treatment" ... Toyota issued a press release late last year about their Jetstream injector cleaner (link below). A dealer quoted in the release said that they put a bottle in every car, every service. You dealer might be doing the same thing. I would think, regardless of Toyota's claims for it, it should be asked of you if you want to have it or not, otherwise, to me anyway, it constitutes work that is not authorised by the customer. If you're concerned, then its worth asking the dealer about it. Toyota Jetstream press release
  8. yes, i did see the reflective stickers, they really stand out at night it must be the wagon's aerodynamic-ness that let him keep up :) goo buddah Yeah, top run home on Thursday night ... given the wagon is about the same weight as the Stivo's, plus the auto box, she gets along alright. I think she's making some good low-down torque, and the auto holds first longer while you guys are changing to second ... after that its all over. I might have to think about some headers and maybe a CAI before Willowbank ... we'll see how the Buddha Budget is faring. The guys in the Prelude were good value ... nice to see everyone having a laugh and some genuine fun. Sometimes people take things too seriously and get aggressive ... the Buddhamobile might have given them a little surprise, me thinks ;)
  9. Don't know about mid-range, but you'll definitely get plenty of high-range stupidity!
  10. There's no doubt whatsoever that a replacement exhaust can hinder power output (personal experience tells me it is so!), but such an exhaust should be returned to the place of purchase and either have a more suitable system fitted or go somewhere else and do it. I'd just like to ask a question of anyone who has the knowledge to answer ... are there any potential variables between having a CES system fitted at CES, and having a CES system transported interstate and fitted by another exhaust place? In other words, could a system's condition after transport or a different fitting method have an effect on the end result? Obviously, all the QLD guys have gone to CES and CES have fitted it for them, whereas only some of the interstaters have done this, so I'm just wondering if there's any substance to my ramblings? :P
  11. I read an article in the early 90's about a guy who was travelling along a highway behind a Suzuki Sierra soft-top, couple of surfies at the wheel, boards on top, cruising along just under the posted speed limit. Guy decides he's sick of following the surfies, so when conditions allow, he pulls out and creeps just over the speed limit to go round the Suzi. Passenger surfy then reaches down and pulls a blue strobe light out from under the seat ... guy busted! I think he was taking the matter to court, given they didn't actually record what speed he was doing, only that they placed him in a postion where he would need to go over the speed limit to overtake. Didn't find out the outcome, unfortunately. Just watch those surfies out there, they're dangerous to your licence's health! :P
  12. And he should know ... his DIY painted headlight cover eyelids are testament to his skill and knowledge! DIY Eyelids ...
  13. Agreed entirely ... your comments are especially true of our upper-most pollies, who get transported to "work" in the back of V8 Statesmans and Fairlanes ... they're too busy reading their (un)popularity polls in the paper to look up and see what the real world has to deal with! <_< I guess we're just red in the face from complaining ... :(
  14. As I spotted this pic in another thread, I'll just quote my previous comments ...
  15. In Queensland, I've seen the bubble Mazda 121, the AWD Mitsubishi Magna VRX and some red "high visibility" Monaros (yeah, I know they're just 2 door Dunnydoors :P ) Not sure which state, but I've also seen a Smart ForTwo in police colours in Wheels, might have been NSW or Vic.
  16. Well done everyone! Love ya work! B) I mainly wanted to see a ute because its a very different shape to the wagon ... something like a panel van, for example, is too close. But I love the wagon with the general lowered look, too! Very nice indeed. Even Mrs Buddha is impressed. Now if I can just find my gas axe ... I know I left it around here somewhere :P
  17. Could there be a benefit in using the 2ZZ filter on a 1ZZ, especially an auto that gets its share of hard driving?
  18. Well, you can't be responsible for Mitsubishi's errors, but your work is excellent, well, I can't fault it, anyway. If you want to try something different, here is the best quality pic I have of the Buddhamobile: Up to you what you do with it, but I wouldn't mind seeing it converted to an extra-cab utility, low rider, big wheels, etc!
