  1. Spotted Silvabullit on Bracken Ridge Rd, Bracken Ridge, outside the indoor sports centre, about 7:15pm tonight.
  2. Toyota aren't the only ones like this ... from the conversations I had with customers when I worked in insurance claims, I think you'll find that most cars have similar issues when keys go missing.
  3. Exactly ... even that is dangerous enough in itself, but the Japanese do love it! I guess they don't get up to speeds where the danger in that is exposed. If you tried to stretch a 14" tyre onto a 15" rim, you're likely to break the beading that matches up to the rim ... the beading is what holds the tyre on the rim as well as the seal that keeps the air in.
  4. I'd like to suggest that one Thursday night we cruise over to the Southbank forecourts for a photo shoot. I had a theory about the spot, having some good lighting and the river and city lights in the background. The other night I was in the vicinity and stopped and got a photo of the wagon with my mobile's camera. Not brilliant, of course, but not bad for what it is. There is plenty of room on the forecourt for arranging cars and so on, I don't know how long we could hang there, but its worth stopping for some shots, anyway. With a half decent camera, I reckon we could get some beaut shots there.
  5. Not trying to make you look silly, Donna, just learning new forum skills in a constructive manner! :D I'm a tentative at the moment, will need to see how our timetable is looking ... trying to find a new place to live, landlords are selling our current abode, so coupled with end of financial year at work, its a busy time to be Buddha! B)
  6. There is one exception to that rule ... if you're stopped or travelling slowly near the end of a merging lane, and other traffic has merged behind you, then one little upstart decides he's gonna run right down the ending lane and push in front, then you don't have to let him in. If he hits you, its his fault anyway. <_<
  7. Um, cyclists don't do favours for anyone but themselves, so I'll reserve my respect for someone more deserving. Now, can we have that "1 more car" back. :P
  8. This is a good debate, but I'll just add in where the original query comes from. I've been a member of OzMazdaClub for a little while since a workmate bought his Mazda and subsequent drag challenges have ensued. Obviously, not being a Mazda owner, my contributions there have been minimal. But when my father recently had his Mazda6 on the market, I immediately thought of putting an ad on OzMazda. All for sale ads on those forums are moderated before they appear on the site. My ad of course went to the mods who returned to say that they wouldn't put the ad up as I hadn't demonstrated a reasonable contribution to the forums and therefore they can't determine if I'm a serious member or if I just want to use the forums to sell stuff. I kinda felt that was a bit tough, but rules is rules so you take it on the chin. They said they get a lot of people just getting on to sell stuff and they came to the conclusion that they didn't want that on their forums. That's why I was asking Steve whether we had any similar concerns, because I know we can just post ads straight up, only being moderated if they are in some way unacceptable. Personally, I don't see an issue with it, and while we all here love our Toyotas to bits, the fact is that most Toyotas are owned by non-enthusiasts who may have spare bits lying around and are looking for a place to sell to interested parties, but aren't wanting to be involved in forums, meets, etc.
  9. Hang on a minute ... you claimed in an earlier post that your father has driven the AWD supercharged Aurion, now you've only heard that its happening and are awaiting confirmation. Hmmm ... <_<
  10. dog (my boss' dog's name is Buster)
  11. Hey Negatron ... can you please PM me your address details, I have a dry cleaning bill to send you! :P
  12. I can't believe that someone has thought of trying to stretch a 14" tyre onto a 15" rim! There are a whole host of issues that would come out of such a thing, not the least of which is the fact that it would be almost impossible to do! :P Your best bet would be to try and trade your 14" tyres on some decent 15" ones ... being from a Camry, they should be a popular size and easy to on-sell for whoever does it for you. Just please don't do the stretchy thing, if you value human life! :)
  13. OK, I think we've all had enough of this silliness now! :P From now on, I declare this topic to be on-topic! ;)
  14. Yeah, but real world testing is showing its about as efficient as your average Jazz/Fiesta, etc. Still, for its size and equipment levels, that's pretty good.
  15. Well, according to the rule book ("Buddha's Big Book of Baits for 'Bullit") it clearly states that as you have merely matched the standard Levin mudflaps, your car falls into the "Contemporary Mudflap Class". ;)
  16. Not necessarily ... I'm thinking of having a "Contemporary Mudflap" category for those who still have their mudflaps and a "Post Mudflap" category for those who've removed theirs. However, it would appear that I will be the only one in the "Modified Mudflap" class! ;)
  17. Ah yes, forgot about the CES day ... consider my idea withdrawn B) gee buddah, what a silly idea that was Says she who was the first person to support my idea :P That's alright ... I'll just walk through the TOCA display and award my own winners ... I don't need you guys ... except, I need you to bring your cars, OK? :)
  18. Ah yes, forgot about the CES day ... consider my idea withdrawn B)
  19. You wanna know the best way to deal with this ... any TOCA members that can get there, do so. All of you put in $1 or $2 into a kitty to pay for trophies, and have a TOCA Show and Shine on the same day! Keep it simple, best 1ZZ, best Stivo, best Hatch, best Sedan, dare I say best Wagon? And maybe a trophy for other models, Yaris, or best non-Rolla, etc and one for members choice. Select someone with some knowledge to judge (I'm thinking our detailer friend Silvabullit and maybe Azza or Northy), the trophies don't have to be extravagently huge, the TCCA ones are just little ones but its still nice to get one. Its a great way to have a comp that is relevant to the group ... I don't think it would take a great deal to put together. I'm happy to lend a hand if need be. If you like my idea, then just reply with "Buddha, you're my rotund and amply mudflapped hero!" If you don't like it, then just reply with "Buddha, you're rotund and your mudflaps are too big!" :D
  20. I know how good my car is show wise and I'm the first to admit defeat to a better car. But the fact that a relatively stock(stereo and a few small bits of chrome(turbo heat shield and one other bit) and that's it) and from my experience an averagely prepared Turbo Celica shows up and absolutely cleans up on the trophy side of things. Then at the trophy night the guys who judged the show are constantly ragging Corolla's and blowing the Celica trumpet then you start to wonder...... :o :o Hopefully this year it'll be independant judges who aren't in the slightest swayed by make/model. :D "Rigged" might be too strong a word, but I admit that the judging was off in some way last year ... while I'm happy to win my trophy, fact is that the wagon wasn't to the same standard of Azza's, which I beat to the class win. I'm not just trying to pump Azza up, I think most of you who've seen the wagon know that its clean, but Azza's would leave it for dead in terms of detail. The other point is, you've got the very new Silvabullet up against a 15 year old Celica, I wonder if maybe they took "condition for age" into account and maybe went too far with their scoring? Anyway, this year I'm hoping to get a bit of a heads up on what their criteria is, what they mark down on or what can earn points. For example, does a Celica with its little boot full of stereo gear get more points than an empty station wagon boot, even though they might be line-ball in terms of general condition? Yeah I think that your right on that one Buddha oh wise one. But my car wasn't new(just on 2 years old) but if the car is competing in the modified class then it has to compete against the other cars in that class. Personally the Celica should have been in the next class down as the mods were extremely minor compared to the other cars in the class(stereo and a few chrome bits). This year is another year and if we can find out what the judges look for then that'd be even better ;) (what sort of beer do they like Buddha :P ) Like I said, I'm hoping to get a heads up on how it all works (maybe get the judges to explain their methods at the next meeting) and I'll pass on everything I find out.
