  1. Hi Eric, warranty voiding by using these or any other OBD-II devices! Maybe if you were using an engine tuning chip device, however as usual read the fine print. If it is not specifically forbidden then as far as I am concerned it is fair game. Terry
  2. Hi Eric, All cars have an OBD-II Port, you won't have to play with the port as it is always active, there is even a splitter available for the port so that two different devices can be connected at the same time. Terry
  3. So far it seems consistent that Toyota Sales Staff are not well versed in the features of the C-HR. I would have thought they would have improved since I received mine. At least then they had the excuse that it was a new, new model. You will love the car when you eventually get it see it in real life.
  4. Feedback to Toyota Australia will be available after delivery. In fact between the dealer and Toyota telephone calls and emails, you get plenty of opportunities to express opportunities for improvment.
  5. Deduct local taxes and GST to compare the WA price. Did you take the Toyota Dealer Insurance?
  6. Hi Robert, That does not sound like good news for anyone.
  7. My wife dutifully reminded me that if a product is supplied and not fit for purpose: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/consumer-guarantees#what-products-and-services-are-guaranteed- I have not yet contacted my Dealer here in WA but I will sometime this coming week, surely if they have updates there must be a policy/process...

  9. No luck. This part number is June 2 2015 :( I contacted Sygic who recommended download their app from Google Play Store and give it a go to check compatibility.
  10. Do we have anyone with enough tech to establish if we can upload an alternative app? If Toyota cannot come to the party and provide more recent maps / updates, I would prefer an alternative product. I have contacted Sygic to see if their software can be uploaded.
  11. The response is a standard one. I will translate: I do not speak English or I am a robot and therefore I cannot answer your enquiry. I have closed this enquiry thank you and please buy a product from someone who cares. Original untranslated version follows. ---8<--- To Surfsideminer 21 Jun at 10:17 PM Dear Customer, Thank you for your interest in our products! 13. 2017 C-HR Koba - AWD - CVT - Pearl White - Carbon Dash
  14. I pay just under $350 per annum plus taxes with Youi for a fully comprehensive policy in Western Australia. I read somewhere that the majority of multi-vehicle accidents in Australia are rear-enders and as such the safety features provide a significant discount.
  15. J, I removed the passenger side trim as this is an easy process, thank you Mr Koba, and your design engineers. The drivers' side in-situ as I had no diagrams for trim panel removal on that side. Without removal, the passenger side would be difficult to wrap otherwise due to the tricky geometry of the trim panel and I wanted to wrap around the edges to ensure a long life in the Western Australian heat.
  16. Thank you, Eric. The trim panel was much more complex than any of the how-to's I watched. I wasted lots of material on the passenger side, the driver's side was easy, I was probably more confident given the simple shape and it was easy to tuck the excess into the crevices. I can't get a good shot but the wrap goes well with the brown diamond pattern on the door trim. I don't understand why Toyota offers the hi-vis and bright wraps but not a carbon.
  17. As I promised. I wrapped the dash in 3M 1080 Carbon Wrap.
  18. I took some photo's of the unit this morning showing the mounting brackets and back. It is a 2Din radio but is rather short. I'm not sure how you would go with a larger unit due to the current surround also housing the clock.
  19. I just went to the Australian Toyota Service & Repair Manuals Site https://toyotamanuals.com.au/ I did a search and they claimed to have the C-HR Manual available, paid my $16 for one day access and..... NO MANUAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can get access to the Warranty and Service Booklet (Who Cares I Have a Hard Copy) but the Service & Repair Manual comes up Error HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource is not available. FRUSTRATION !@#$%^&*()
  20. I have 1597K mixed urban and country driving and am showing 6.8. It was at 8 on delivery. I do not drive hard and do not try and be economical. I am aware from past experience (Subaru's) that AWD cars can be heavy on fuel. I never, in reality, expected the AWD CVT combination in a real life situation to be less than 8 or 9. Maybe I am cynical of claimed fuel consumption, however, at 6.8 I am very impressed as I have never achieved manufacturers claimed consumption. A couple of questions I would be considering if you are not achieving less than 7: what type of terrain do you drive in? hills suburbs stop signs Victoria, New South Wales or Queensland (all big negatives). which fuel do you use? 95 98 ethanol blended are you using radar cruise and self-acceleration? which driving mode are you in? do you try and keep the leaf as green as possible during manual acceleration? Update: Decided to commute by car today (40klm into the city) 15/06/17, 0600 - 0620hrs. At 60kph average speed, fuel consumption was 6.5L/100k.
  21. I am thinking of doing a carbon wrap across the gray section of the dash. Does anyone have any experience with these types of product?
  22. Radar Cruise Control: Radar cruise is pretty good, in fact, I love it and I have found I am a less aggressive driver with this feature activated, I am even getting used to cars jumping into the gap in front without getting upset, most of the time. There is no need to get upset, the car just slows down and opens the gap automatically. Some real life warnings: If a car pulls over or I change lanes to overtake another car, and there is no car in the radar range, and I am traveling below the preset speed limit the car will accelerate. All good so far, except, if there is stopped traffic at traffic lights for example. The car does not seem to lock onto a stopped car as quickly as a moving car and as such, the closing speed is very high. I always chicken out and hit the brakes myself as I am not confident that the car will auto-brake in time, if at all until it is too late. The issue seems to occur in 80k zones, as I have not noticed this in 60k zones. If the radar is locked onto a car or not accelerating all is good and the car slows and stops comfortably with the traffic. The issue seems to be an auto-acceleration v radar lock auto-braking conflict, have others noticed this? Western Australian drivers do not seem to understand that turning/slip lanes are designed for sufficient braking to occur. If a car turns into a slip lane and slows before getting all the way over or a car is at maximum radar range and slows quickly to turn a corner where there is no slip lane the C-HR will brake HARD. Be aware or you could be rear-ended. I would like to hear other peoples driving examples or warnings.
  23. Calling the C-HR a dragon might be a stretch but it is a stand-out, head turning car, even when parked in the street, there is no doubt it looks aggressive from every angle. The C-HR looks like nothing else on the road and makes the competitors cars look boring and bland. I have been stopped more than once by car enthusiasts wanting to know, how it drives or even just to comment on its unique style. There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to the driving features and the "WARNING" notices in the manual are there for a reason, ignore them at your peril.
  24. After sales and delivery surveys and phone calls, I must admit are a great place to tell it as you see it. Doing so fairly is the key, don't get wrapped up in emotion.
