  1. Thankyou for your valuable input there illuminati yet another A grade response packed with academic charm... Chopping the stick is Chopping the stick.. :o It only provides a perceptual change in shifter travel, but also increases the effort to move the the mechanism.. The only way to change the shift throw is to modify the pivot mechanism which actuates the cable system.. That is what the TRD shifter does and thats what you pay for... I dunno dude, I sorta got this thing about attacking my new car with an angle grinder ...
  2. Yeah they are good prices on the TRD gear.. I so want to get a shifter !!!
  3. What cost $ 61.00 ??? the 1k is free...
  4. Paid right of abuse !!! The worldwide Toyota Owners Club actually has a membership structure... You can join up on the www.toyotaownersclub.com main page..
  5. Geezus.. Now I am sure Im gonna buy my own dealership... !!! Read the fine print on your extended warranty.. Think youll find failures etc etc are only covered up to a certain amount allowing for certain wear and tear and kilometres etc etc... Its just a great way for a dealership to get themselves are regular client.. As Sharmz said.... Whether he meant to or not... Extended warranty is worth 50 cents... Australia doesnt haves laws which prevent you from performing simple auto servicing on your own vehicles.. Hence if you use genuine Toyota parts, as I do with the oil and filters, then you wont have issues with warranty.. Anybody can do book servicing.. !!!!! Midas, Ultratune, Automasters, the local garage !!! For me, the only time I visit the dealer is when I have a problem that shoud be a warranty repair !!
  6. Yeah they are the 2 links I followed for my install.... Bare in mind the Matrix is Left Hand drive and the Rolla is Right.. You will find there are a few differences... Minor only.. However if you get stuck Im sure we can help.. I can get mine in and out of the car in like 30 minutes now... Make sure you have spare cable ties.. ;)
  7. Dealer servicing is a COMPLETE !! RIP OFF !!!... Have a look at the Labour rate they charge for their Mechanics... Wish I could earn that sort of money... There is no rocket science to changing your own oil... As Lucio said you can get the genuine 10/30w SG VVTi Oil and a filter for around $ 50... Dont forget you guys have a High Performance engine so treat it as such... 5000k oil changes are a must !!! As for the 10k services... Find a good local guy... Stuff the bloody dealer...
  8. My CAI came in this huge friggin box.. Like 1mtr long x 50cm x 50 cm... No wonder it Cost $ 50 for freight... Was the Genuine AEM box BTW... Tell your brother inlaw to pull it outta the box and staxh it... !!
  9. I dunno bout the spring rates... I just asked the Guys at the Suspension Wholesaler to supply what they thought would do the job... The car is lower, is a lil firmer in the ride and Im generally happy with it.. Just high enough for the front spoiler to clear most kerbs... I will probably go down the path of some shorter shocks very soon.. I havent bottomed the shocks yet.. But you can just tell that they want to.. Rev head intuition I think... Ill prolly go for broke and buy Tein height adjustables or something soon..
  10. My findings.... The clutch needs to go in and out smoothly.. Not just smash in and step off... Being to aggressive wid the clutch can have adverse effects on the shift.. The slight throttle depress on changing !!! Hell Yeah that works great.. Only needs a smidge... Dont flat change the stick, rather pull or push it through gates smoothly with a lil bit of pace.. Its all about mastering the timing....
  11. **** man when did your order it.. Current exchange rate is .77 I did some transactions yesterday... 3050 USD.. Cost me 3947 AU... 237 @ .77 = 307 60 @ .77 = 78 Hope ya didnt get ripped by some dodgy money broker... :o
  12. I was blamin my box for a while.. :o Till I worked out it was the heavy handed mongrel driving.. Almost got it sused now... I landed a coupla good LIfts on the 1-2 this morning... Just have to perfect the technique now..
  13. Geez dude you paid a far chunk a change for that sucker... I would have said $ 370 AU delivered would have been about right goin on the current exchange rate..
  14. Certainly not the AEM beast thats on my car then..
  15. Hey man I went through this top to bottom with the tyre guys... I wish had listened more.. Suffice to say I couldnt legally fit 18s to my car...
  16. Also seriously consider checking the load index of the tyres you are fitting... I think you will find that although you can get 18s to fit the load index of the tyres that are available are not compatible with the Tivo... Having said that, if fit them regardless you will contravene one the ADRs and if you crashed you would be held liable by your insurance company or the law.. Hence the reasons Why I fitted 17s to my car.... 18s were on the shopping list...
  17. You sure thats not a price on the Short Ram AEM ??... Steer away from that.. You dont want your rolla gobbling hot air all day long...
  18. Glad I didnt buy another Commodore then :o ... Just concerns me that I could lose that much over such a short period of time.. Like I paid $30900, but for the dealer to sell it a $26990 they would probably pay around the 25k to 25.5k mark... Thats ofcourse knowing how dealer margins work.. The dealer that tells you their losing on the deal, well, hes not... EVER !! They all have a bottom line and that line is never flexible... They only ever rob Peter to pay Paul..
  19. if you intend keeping you car longer than 5 years I guess so.. ;)
  20. In the West Australian newspaper.. Saturday, 10-Jan-2004 Melville Motors here in Perth had a 2003 Sportivo, White, with only 2300kms on the Clock... Was advertised for $ 26,990.. Gotta say I hope my car doesnt drop to much more in value.. Toyotas are renowned for their strong resale... But less than 6 months old and $ 26990.. Hmmmmm Im scared... :(
  21. Rust proofing now theres another 1 of those yard rorts... :P Have a look at the fine print of your warranty I think you will find that Toyota puts a 5 year perforation warranty on all their new cars.. Something the dealship will never tell you.. The perforation warranty is .. Yes you guest it .. Warranty against visible rusting of the paint surface etc... Further to that.. Why would you get rust proofing on your car when part of the construction process is galvanising of the metals.. Ne ways food for thought once again... ;)
  22. I think I must be some sort of heavy footed dunderclumpin ... I tried all weekend but just couldnt get it right... :( Ive lost the edge...
