  1. Oh hang on let me do it.. Can I, Can I... "What is lift ?" hahaha :D
  2. Id would have doing it with myself then.. Hmm no guilt associated with that I imagine... :D
  3. Heres something for you to try... Drive your car hard for about 2 weeks... Do some hard braking... Then get your damp cleaning cleaning cloth and wipe your front driving wheels clean... Now take it to the bonnet and start rubbing... Lets see you get those swirlies out... Dude Paranoid I may be but black cars with swirls and scratches look like *******... BTW folks its your money... But like I said paint protection aint worth squat... I wonder if we can put together an correlation of why I know so much about this paint protection stuff .. Hmmm I wonder...
  4. Friends of mine have a Series 5 13B Turbo and 5 Speed Jammed into their KE70.. Now that lil sucker motivates... For acceleration and speed it makes my Stivo look like a 2 cylinder Nikki.. 12.20 I think is its best time so far at the drags... The secret to successful fast lappers is doing the work yourself... Oh and doing it right the first time... If you plan to cut corners the dont waste your time... The 4AGZE would be a nice conversionn... :)
  5. Just thought Id post a pic of what it looks like in the car...
  6. Simple methods for keeping your black car tip top... Make sure your suds bucket is clean of grit and foreign objects... Cleaning cloths or sponges shoud be free of grit and sand.. If you drop it on the ground when washng then get another.... DONT use it again until throughly clean.. Never wash your black car in direct sun, the heat of the day or while the paintwork is very hot... All you will do is get watermarks happeing... Always keep that in mind... Always squirt the body work down with cold water before you start... Lots of bugs or ******* can be removed by using detergent straight from the container and rubbing with your hands... NEVER USE BRUSHES OR ABRASIVE CLENANERs !!! If your car is well polished bugs can be removed easily with a good high pressure cleaner.. Also try to use a different bucket and sponge for your wheels as the brake pad dust can contain metal filings that will damge your paint if rubbed onto the paint work.. Use a good quality leather chamois to get the water off... Which shouldnt be a lot if youve been keeping your polishing upto scratch.. If your a fanatic like me you can use an electric leaf blower... That gets all the water off super quick, plus it gets the annoying dribbles outta the the hard to get at spots.. As for polishing... Follow the directions to the letter on the product labels.. Plus read the polishing how tos on the http://www.meguiars.com website.. I use Meguiars gold Class Products which you can get from most auto stores like Super Cheap, Repco, Autobahn etc.. They cost a little more.. But like anything... You get what you pay for... All this stuff takes time... There are no shortcuts to keeping the car looking good....
  7. Be making yaself a nice lil earner on the side ;) Id imagine that VDO or someone like that could do it for you.. Hate to think how much theyd charge but illuminati hads some pics floating round of dash with blue and white mods.. Maybe he had his done or knows where...
  8. Oh btw be careful of the $ 700 alarm upgrades and $ 500 tint jobs to... :D Always shop around.. ALWAYS !!! ;)
  9. Apparently the the instrument cluster uses surface mounted LEDs that can be changed with a little skill... Im not real good with a soldering iron but.. :(
  10. Paint protection is a Scam... 750 bux for some supposed miracle that will keep your car shiny for years without polishing ??? Seriously.. If you want you car to look good then the only way is with good old fashion elbow grease and good aftermarket waxes and polishes... Q: When you spend 10k on a custom paint job for your show car has the spray painter ever tried to sell you paint protection ??? A: Yer right... Yet another reason why car dealers get richer and you guys get ripped off.. Now I know Im in the wrong business... BTW anyone want to buy some some cheap turn signal fluid or muffler bearings...
  11. Ive had know problems with my dealership as far as mods go... I guess its all about your relationship with your dealer... Ive had mine in with Exhaust and intake with no issues... And thats the way it should be..
  12. Yeah they fine you alright... $ 100 in WA....
  13. When Used and not abused NOS is probably the best value for money power up available.. I guess the down side is it is not legal for road use in any Australian State.. Suffice to say the 2ZZ could easily handle a 50 Wet Shot, Hit after Hit... You guys worry to much.. If you break it Toyota will fix it... Warranty is a grand thing... As for whos gonna be buyin your car after you own it ?? Meh... :D
  14. Id agree to a certain extent... But gutless is the only word to describe the off lift performance.. Im coming from driving a 380 hp v8 powered rear wheel drive dinosaur so I kinda miss that low down punch.. The Stivo really does require a great deal of effort somedays, just being able to extract that lil bit extra down low would be beaut.... Low boost of around 5-9 psi up to around 6k would be great with it kicking off at lift... European cars like SAAB run low boost setups on high comp engines... Mainly to get the ugly buggers going... I Might have to invest in a 50 shot of giggle gas to satisfy my offline needs.. :D
  15. The TRDUSA kits are designed for the 1ZZ only... If the kit fitted the 2zz it would be on my car already... Heres hoping somebody will have a bright idea... I dont want any boost past lift.... I just want some extra grunt off the mark...
  16. How many of you guys find that when your stivo is on lift its a right killer in a straight line ?? <_< Well I can understand the pursuit of a lil more stick up top, but lets put things into perspective, where do you think your stivo is the lamest ?? In the bottom end, under the Hi Stick right ??... Ive been working on building a little more torque below that magic 6k range... Ive laid my hands on a Piggy Back ecu from Greddy (Emanage).. Which is showing some encouraging initial results... Like I said in one of my last posts... Think, plan, research !!!.... Ive been reading on one of the Matirx forums about some folks using UniChip piggy backs.. They were all raving for weeks .. Big promises made by the tuner.. But overall very lame results.. IMHO chase some more workable torque down low... This is where you need it.... Neways nuff of my crap..
  17. Headys are different on the Matrix unfortunately... :( JDM Parts Guru can get Eyelids at a reasonbale price ... Hes a sponsor from memory maybe somebody should pm or email him...
  18. Concur with Peekay.. The battery has to come out so there is ya reset.. I did find however when I started it after the mod it took a while for the idle air control to settle down.. But that standard with a full ECU reset.. As for the stezz, there didnt seem to be any need for a PIN when I reconnected mine.. And it was outta action for about 45 minutes..
  19. rjt double ditto... The Astra Turbo I have to say was cool.. But how much damn fun are these Stivos... Plus you get a coupla extra doors thrown in... I definitely made the right decision... BTW I waited 2 days for mine... My dealer had 2 black ones in stock... :D
  20. Geez how did I miss this thread... :o Ive kept the Centre section of my standard system from the manifold and the full length of the straight section which incorporates the cat and centre muffler... Youd have to see under your car to see what Im talking about... I had the rear section cut off and a flange put on the straight cat and centre section... I ran 2.5" aluminised mild steel pipe from that flange to an SR Polished Stainless Barrel Muffler with 3.5" Outlet.. However this is fitted with 2.5" Removable Silencer... So when I compete in my club events I can up the ante with 110+ DB of exahust noise... :) With the silencer in it still has a very sporty note.. In fact its pretty damn good.. Never thought Id say that.. (27 Holdens Before the Stivo) The exhaust mod netted about 9hp at the wheels according to the rolling road.. Which I thought wasnt to bad at all.. I can return the exhaust to factory configuration in about ten minutes by unbolting the rear section and putting the stock section back in place... :) My advice is... Think about what you want to do before you do it... The straight cat and muffler section, as standard, flows pretty damn well.. No point in re inventing the wheel.. A little more flow out the rear is what your chasing.. You dont need to use a mass poser shanezz style rice cannnon like I did.. But meh... Its cool !! :D Cheers,
  21. In this lil babe Ive seen around 215kmh and was still haulin.. The owners manual quotes 225kmh in 6th... Might have to wait for a nice cool night to give that a try... :)
  22. I did all of my mods myself to.. But helps to have a mate with a hoist.. :)
  23. Its always good when somebody else has a go first.. Gives you a chance to hijack some ideas.. Nice work on the install... :)
