  1. No numbers like that on mine -- Picked up a new one a few hours ago, 07/05 on the build plate (pillar passenger door front) and 08/05 on the compliance plate.
  2. :( :( :( Well, they were doing a final check on mine after it came back from after-market extras being done - paint, tint, rust etc and found that the central locking no longer worked .... and, finally yesterday it was traced back to a relay somewhere buried in the dash. So, It will Hopefully be Thursday that I pick it up ... talk about a P*sser!
  3. On a recent trip I drove from Adelaide to Devonport on 62L - driving mostly at the speed limit. It is 760km to Melbourne then 190NM from melbourne to Devonport :D On the way home, from Melbourne to Adelaide, it was 65L but I was in a bit of a hurry to get home and as soon as I crossed the Border in SA I stepped it up a peg or 2 -or 500-1000 RMP in 6th. This was with 44,000
  4. Yeah Likewise - I think it is around 500-600 - It ain't that big so I don't really bother with details. I suppose that Adelaide and 35+ and 65%NCB accounts for that!
  5. Damn! Looks like a lot of new 'stivos get delivered today! Just a few hours till i grab my new one - and Yes it is still BLUE !
  6. Well, I walked in on a mission to the dealership and I was pretty happy with the outcome. Now, 03 in fair/good condition with 45,000 on the clock, Tinted, leather protection, paint protection, rusproofing and Towbar. Traded for exactly the same options.... When they first mentioned a price, I threatend to go out and buy a brand new REX and told him to ty again I got the changeover for a tad over 12K but they came down nearly 5K to get the deal. 3rd car from the same dealership helps I guess. Anyway, I was pretty happy with what I got - I pick it up in 4 1/2 hours time....
  7. Got the phonecall today from the dealer, My '05 'Stivo has arrived, now I have to wait until Friday to pick it up, and hand back my '03 with 45,000K on it. Well, the ashtray was full so time to trade it in... I just hope that in 2-3 years time I can still go out and buy a new one of these - not looking promising, and certainly won't get the deal I got this time round if they are sourced from somehwhere else.... So, for the next 3 weeks or so, I will have to drive like my Father :( But then look out again
  8. I spoke to my dealer today, and was told that the last shipment came into Aus in July - no more will land on our shore... So, I went out and got the last (new) blue one in the country - updating from my 03 to an 05 in about 2 weeks time...
  9. they LIED! - Fancy a dealership lying! Well - how about the first person to simply lay down the $$ - and only getting to within 10Meters of one before owning one! - yeah my test-drive was post-delivery, and I only saw one thru a showroom window before buying.
  10. Hate to bump such an old thread ... I found somewhere recently where they are selling a 98/10% fuel at 3cents LESS than ULP! I asked The dealer at my last service for an answer and didn't get one. I have not had time to follow up, but decided to put $25 worth in and see how it went! Well, an 11c a liter saving at the pump, and I Got around 5% Better fuel economy. I paid 108.9 earlier this week. When I first saw it, the ULP price was 111.9, but when I decided to give it a go, the ULP was up to 117.9 - gotta love it! The only downer is there is only 1 supplier that I have found in Adelade and it is a 25km drive each way from home. I will certainly be filling up whenever I am close now I know it is all ok! And for the record, it is the United Service Station at Salisbury.
  11. oz - pretty close to some of my Records :) Well, I think I had the 1st Blue 'Stivo in South Aus - took delivery on 3rd August 03 - and I think it was number 5 or 6 in South Aus. Oldest Blue Sportivo driver ( 37 ) - Guess what I bought for my 35th birthday - and it actually turned up 2 weeks early! There is one other record that I could claim but won't ever admit to it - Again and won't post it here ;) Closest to 40,000Km at 2 years old - 40,137 Least number of washes. Me - 3 times, plus 4 times at the dealership when it has been serviced - making only 7 washes in 2 years and 2 weeks.
  12. Yep - it was an older car.... < flame suit on > Well, let me put it this way for you -- do you know the road I was talking about? have you ever driven on it? I will be the first to say that there is a time and a place to try out your car. And you would be BS'ing everyone if you say you have never exceeded the speed limit. The road Has an Airport on one side of it with 8 ft tall fences, and open paddocks on the other side of it. There are no side streets it is 2 lanes each way divided road with no breaks in the medium strip. The traffic was very light - There were no vehicles on the road for over 2km in front of me. Visibility was perfect It was mid afternoon on a sunny day. The nearest house to this area is a long way away, and I was driving AWAY from them. your post insinuates that I am an idiot for doing this .... I would consider myself to be better than average driver - I have been a member of Car Clubs and have done 4 advanced driving courses. I know how my car handles and know how to handle it. Yes, I do drive Fast at times, but I never put myself or anyone else at danger Whenever I decide to exceed the speed limits, it is never outside of the prevailing conditions. I regularly drive on Highways that have speed limits posted on them that I would Never consider doing - the posted speeds are way too high for the roads even under ideal conditions. < flame suit off > I will be the first to say that some of the speed limits (well most) on a lot of our roads are certainly not right - a lot are way too slow and a lot are way too fast. I have driven on highways at much higher speeds than this - I have done a 640Km trip in 3 1/4 hours at an average speed of 197km/h There were parts of this trip that I was doing much less than the posted 110 speed limit - simply because the roads were not suitable to go any faster. Of course there were parts of this trip where I was going quite a bit faster than 200km/h as well. Oh, just so you don't get the wrong Idea, on that trip, I overtook only 3 vehicles in the 640km, and only passed about 10 vehicles coming in the other direction. I was simply driving within the PREVAILING CONDITIONS. I would never advocate to anyone to drive faster than any posted speed limit without considering the consequences of their actions.
  13. Bougt from Peter Davey Main north road and I Get serviced there - absolutely no problems with them. Whenever the car needs a wash, I go and get a service ;) oz_viking > Their workshop is actually across the road and behind their used car yard! The entrance is deceptively small, but they have a huge area you cannot see until you step into the workshop. Out of couriosity, What is the average price you are paying for a service? I think all mine have been between $130 and $160. ausportivo - welcome to the forum! We should try and get together sometime for a little run somewhere - we need to see more than 2 at the same time/place in SA! - What colour did you go for ?
  14. .... trade it in on a 'Stivo ;)
  15. After being next to oz_viking when he hit lift - the sound is AWESOME! I will be adding TRD CAI at some time in the near future!
  16. I get at least 500 city driving on a tank and that is filling up within 30k of the light coming on. A small city/country trip a week ago and I got 650k and it took 52L - 330 k of this was on the highway, and it was rarely less than 4200RPM in 6th ;) I even had a small (10 mins) run at 160km/h+. I have absolutely no idea how good you could get out of a Stivo - I bought a performance car to drive it HARD .... If fuel consumption had been a consideration I would have kept the 02 rolla - which best run I got from it was 692Km.
  17. It was good to go out and see more than 1 in the same place at the same time! We will certainly do it again some time in the future! Now, we need to find a few more people in South Aus!
  18. I think it has been said already - It works with Bikes! I see no problem at all- but then again, I only ever had a 4 cyl car when I got my licence. I learnt to drive when I was 10 in the country. in my late teens, early 20's I went out and joined a Car club - and had the opportunity to push my car to the limit in a safe environment. - this teaches you more than you would ever realise - It teaches you YOUR limits as a driver and a lot about how a car responds under extreme conditions - with minimal risk of killing yourself or anyone else. I have also done 2 Advanced driving courses. A driver goes and gets a licence and then thinks he has the skills to drive any car at high speed - WRONG! Personally, I do not think that speed is a problem, but experience and skills of a driver. That being said, We all know that the speed limits imposed on the roads in a lot of places are inappropriate - Some are too high, and a hell of a lot are way too low ;) I have driven a Car on the highway on a trip of 640km in Australia, and done the trip in 3hrs 15 minutes - yeah, average of over 200km/h. Whilst on this trip, there were parts of the highway with a 110 limit that I travelled on and due to the conditions I was doing less than 90km/h It is all about driver knowledge, driver skill, and having the brains to realise that it is simply not safe to try and drive at 100km/h in a built up area. I think that by limiting the power of a vehicle that Younger, inexperienced drivers are allowed to drive, that hopefully, they will learn enough common sense by the time they are allowed to drive a performance or high powered vehicle that there is a time and a place. This absolutly gets a vote of confidence from me, and not before time. The best advice I could give a younger driver, is to go and join a car Club, flog the **** out of your car, and learn your limits, and have a hell of a lot of fun whilst you are at it- it may just save your life.
  19. I drove a 2000 model (hire car in an auto) for about 2 weeks in Western Australia and racked up nearly 6,000Km in it - a lot of hard/fast country driving. The day after I got home from My holiday, I went out and bought a 2002 Ascent, with some dealer options like 15" mags, etc. In the 15 months and 32,000 Km I had it it was probably the best car I had owned to date. Of course as soon as the Sportivo was released I went out and bought one - because in my opinion, it had all the extra's that were lacking! - and it is head and shoulders aboove a "standard" Corolla. A couple of points to note, I would not go and buy one of the previous body shape, with the very sloping back. In the 2002 (to current ) shape, you have quite a few advantages over the old shape. The overall visibility and driving position is far better, the 100Kw is much better to drive than the previous 87kW, and the 2002-current is better on the fuel (slightly) than the previous car. If I was in the market for a car, any Corolla from 2002-current with less than 40,000 on it would be a good choice. Look at what is on offer, drive a few different models and you will do OK.
  20. To replace it with what is on it you are up for around $220/ tyre. I had to replace a couple a few months ago, and in the 195/55-16 size there is only a choice of 5 to be had in Aus. -and really only 4 as one of these only had a H? (220Kph) rating - and it was one of the dearer ones. Price ranges I got were $220-360 per! A ring around different tyre places only saw a few dollars difference between them. So, just find your favourite/most convenient tyre place and take a large amount of $
  21. Hi all and thanks for the welcome! NE suburbs - St Agnes way. Favourite run has to be NE road from the top near the Pub at Tea Tree Gully up thru the Chain of ponds to Birdwood - Always have a problem getting into 4th on that run - and always in the lift! I Bought my '02 rolla from Peter Davey on Main North Road, and went back there to buy the Stivo. Get them to do the service as well, and they have been pretty good! I had a bit of a bitch after the recall and said it was lacking power. They took it back, and had it for a day and did a full diagnosis on it and of course told me that they could not find a thing wrong. But it was strange how as soon as I turned onto the main road when I picked it up, It was like my old car again! I must have been pretty lucky, as the only problem I have is a horrid sound from the front end about half the time when going over speedhumps. They are going to be asked to sort that out at the next service. BTW, that fast run was lined up at Western End of Kings Road at MN Road lights near Parafield airport, West along Kings Road.
  22. Found this forum today while online and thought that I would say Hi! I was on holidays and hired a 2000 corolla, and the day after I got home, I went out and bought a 2002 model. I was fairly satisfied with the car, but as always found it a bit too sedate for my driving style. An advert on the Telly caught my attention, a corolla Sportivo, 141KW and a 6 speed. 40% more power, a close-ratio 6speed - I was hooked. The next day, I phoned the dealer and said I want! About 5 weeks later, on the 1st Aug 2003 I hopped into it with 6.9km on the clock! I missed out on one of the first batch in SA, but the dealer managed to get hold of a Blue one from Interstate for me, they said nobody wanted the blue one's (except me) I have had a variety of cars, from my pretty hot (130hp) '77 Lancer -thru 4wd's and now this car. I have never had the chance to see how fast this thing goes yet, but I have had a few quick runs on the highway. The roads I drive on simply are not good enough to open it right up in the lift in 6th. My most memorable run was against a 351blown GTO Falcon - this was pre-recall as well. At a set of lights, I took off like I normally do ~2.5K and left them for dead, they didn't like being beaten as I was about to find out. Next set of lights, I took off pretty much the same, but they turned it on. A quick look at the road and I had about 1.5km of straight road with no side streets, so I thought WTF!. They were about 1 1/2 bdy lengths in front by then, so boot to the floor!. I quickly gained on them and when I hit the limiter I was 1/2 a bonnet in front. A crap change to 2nd (after bouncing off the rev-limiter 3 times) saw them get 1/2 a body in front. I made up the lost ground until I hit the rev-limiter again, this time nose to nose, and slipped into 3rd, and lost just a bonnet to them. 3rd was pretty even all the way and I hit the rev-limiter for the 3rd time, grabbed 4th with them nose to nose. Now, 4th I kept the power on and pulled away from them, and when I hit the rev-limiter in 4th, I was at least 3 body lengths in front! - I had whipped'em and good, so (going from the 70 zone into the 80 zone) I slipped into 6th and looked down - 185+ I then started slowing down as the next set of lights ahead had other cars stopped. A few seconds after I backed off the boy racers finally caught up, but not until I had slowed somewhat! They were not amused, that is for sure! I just cant wait until the day I have a nice bit of road to do that 1-6! Like a lot of other people have noted, I have also seen a lot more on the road over the last 3-4 months!, When I got mine, I did not see another one on the road until the beginning of 04. Anyway, after reading here, I guess I know where my next $6k is going ;)
