    Alarm issues

Hello hello i was just testing my "alarm", do all camrys come standard with an alarm? in the book, it says to test the anti theft system, press the remote 2 lock the car, then unlock a door from the inside. thats wot i did, and yes, the "system" works, as it immediately relocks itself. BUT the book says the alarm should come on. mine...well....it was silent. i then tried to unlock the door and quickly open the door, the door opened but the car was silent. sooo errrr....anyone can shed light on this? just reminder, i have the 2002 advantage camry. additionally, the book refers to a panic system, where you press your remote for more than 3 seconds, well i tried it and haha, u guess it, nothing happened and the car stayed silent. plz dont tell me i need to visit a toyota dealer. they'll prolli charge me $$$ for it. thank heaps! 2. Hi all, i got an email from my old man. forwarded this to me. Here are some tricks to help you get your money's worth: > > 1. Fill up your car or truck in the morning when the temperature is still > cool. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried > below ground; and the colder the ground, the denser the gasoline. When it > gets warmer gasoline expands, so if you're filling up in the afternoon or in > the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the > petroleum business, the specific gravity and temperature of the fuel > (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products) are > significant. Every truckload that we load is temperature-compensated so that > the indicated gallonage is actually the amount pumped. A one-degree rise in > temperature is a big deal for businesses, but service stations don't have > temperature compensation at their pumps. > > 2. If a tanker truck is filling the station's tank at the time you want to > buy gas, do not fill up; most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being > stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that > dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car's tank. > > 3. Fill up when your gas tank is half-full (or half-empty), because the more > gas you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates > rapidly, especially when it's warm. (Gasoline storage tanks have an internal > floating 'roof' membrane to act as a barrier between the gas and the > atmosphere, thereby minimizing evaporation.) > > 4. If you look at the trigger you'll see that it has three delivery > settings: slow, medium and high. When you're filling up do not squeeze the > trigger of the nozzle to the high setting. You should be pumping at the > slow setting, thereby minimizing vapors created while you are pumping. Hoses > at the pump are corrugated; the corrugations act as a return path for vapour > recovery from gas that already has been metered. If you are pumping at the > high setting, the agitated gasoline contains more vapor, which is being > sucked back into the underground tank, so you're getting less gas for your > money. i dont know if its just bs but im sure some of it would be realistically real.
  3. u could always just give it a go and spray the hot rims on the tyres, clean it and see how well the tyre shine application goes. dependant on what tyre shine u use, if u are using one that claims to last weeks, but doesnt, then what you are using to clean the tyres (in this case hot rims) should not be used as it repels the shine liquid. give meguiars endurance wet gloss a go. u have to actually apply it using a hand applicator though. but it lasts for weeks! it even repels and has the water beading effect when wet
  4. lol..................................... becker, before applying meguiars tyre shine products, u should clean the the tyres using the non acid wheel cleaner. i know it says wheel cleaner but in the US, its called a different name; dubbed the "all purpose wheel cleaner - APC". the non acid wheel cleaner has exactly the same formula as the APC and is a multipurpose cleaner that ready's your tyres and wheels for shine applications or for chrome rims, readys them for the nxt all metal polish/wax. if u apply the shine products after only using water to wash the tyres, they will not penetrate the tyre wall efficiently, and most of the times u'll see that u'll need a second or third application as the tyre surface is not clean and readied. i use the non acid wheel cleaner and as tayles "suggested" lol, their wheel brush to clean it. then i apply 2 coats of meguiars Endurance Tyre Protectant Gel (High Gloss) with a meguiars foam applicator. if your tyre wall as those annoying rubber lines that "enhance" the look of your tyres when wet, use a paint brush to spread the tyre shine gel/liquid into the lines. most of the meguiars brush products may seem stupid, like a wheel brush, a tyre brush, a body brush etc but if use specific meguairs products u'll find that u actually need them. u can purchase just a generic brush from a $2 store wheel and tyre purposes, but if u intend on using brushes for your car's body work, then only use meguiars brushes, as they are non scratching with microfibre bristles hope this helps.
  5. dude, why do u insist on a toyota oem cassette deck? why dont u just purchase a nice looking black cd player with the works that suits your dash surroundings? u dont need to spend more than $250bucks, which includes installation that has a lifetime warranty... if u want your toyota dash to look original then mmm fine, but...its a cassette deck. i dont know anyone here who looks forward to seeing an oem toyota deck in someone's car. my car came with a 2 deck fujitsu cassette and cd player but i changed it to a nice black sony one. it looks much better and it plays mp3/wma's on cd-r/cdrws. im not selling my oem 2deck as i still need it else where.

woo thanks for that mate. speaking of the devil i was just having a look @ the k&n panel filters to replace my stock. i was weighing up which way to "go", the pods or the panels, but now that u told me pods get heat soaked, panels i go with some added swiss cheese cheers for that.
  9. well sottovoce u could always just double check the measurement with your own "real" measurement. fill in a predetermined amount of fuel and see how many kms that gets u. always is the best and most accurate way.
  10. u must drive like a kangaroo (hard starts and quick stops) to have that sought of a measurement for a 2.4L, either that or your tripo is stuffed, or your sportivo needs a check? ive driven a 05 camry v6 for 6mths and it was 11.5, with roughly city (75%) & suburb (25%) driving. try accelerating smoothly and allowing the auto gear box to change gears by raising your pedal slightly when accelerating to 3+rpms. i rarely go beyond 3000rpm on any gear unless im angry
  11. dang. i dont wanna know how much your tyres. cost (yes i do) hehe

tell me about it. my intake is exactly the same position and design as yours, and my camry is 13younger than yours! i remembered when i had my 4cylin sv21, i unscrewed the left hand parker lens and behind it was the air intake. i left it exposed and went out for a spin and guess what...im positive it wasnt the placebo effect but my sv21 instantly became more responsive and much louder and better to hear when i floored it! so try it out on yours on a nice sunny day and see how responsive your 89v6 is.

hi guys, anyone here with a camry that has done a simple pod jobbie? ive got a 02 camry and would looooveeee where u got your parts/job done from. just wondering, if anyone here can shed light on why all car's stock air intakes sit behind the headlights? you would think thats the worst place to put it!?
  15. mmm a lil update..... tints will HAVE TO BE next...but yea...not a fan of them stock ride height, looks like a bloody 4WD wheels are just gen toyota avalon rims.
  16. they may have won the battle, BUT they'll loose the war!
  17. awww damn. it had to be this way!@#$#$% mmm blue is there any chance you could put "jarvis toyota sucks" on your avatar? because to be honest, all car companies have duds and lemons. ALL. so its a lil unfair to lay the blame solely on toyota. and i would say that toyota has the lowest percentage of lemons. in my opinion, i would lay the blame solely on the dealership for giving u that dud. i know you forwarded emails and letters to toyota HQ, but i would beat $1000000million bucks that the sales manager of jarvis told/persuaded toyota HQ that it was you who treated the car badly, thus making hq ignore your emails/letters. i know its toyota's fault for manufacturing the piece of $hit, but if toyota actually ran their own dealerships i highly doubt it would turn out this way. its the manager of jarvis that doesnt want a "negative" figure on the financial statements, doesnt want the blame, and doesnt want to have a bad record. usually bad experiences of companies come from the wrong doings of franchisees rather than the head company. JARVIS TOYOTA SUCKS A$$
  18. wot a bloody ripper. finally youtube is good for something.
  19. nps. if u dont have the time to go dyi its better to give it 2 the repairer anyway. that application the guy did took him 4hours x2 = 8hours. this is by hand. not using machines, so paint repairer should have it done within a couple of hours, or less. cheers. do post pics of before and after!!
  20. haha i loved it. i saw that last month, its that good that it remains fresh in my mine lol
  21. and the fact that labour is aust cost heaps! so not that reliable, high labour rate.... then theres closure costs if factories move overseas. mmmm not much going for it there
  22. eerr? are u kidding or...u pulling my leg...or.....your telling the truth?
  23. nice are u looking @ respraying it? mmm. u can do a decent job by just using some quality products to detail it, unless u know someone give u a bargain respray, cuz they are kinda over the value of this car for a decent job. its only got a clear coat failure (from those pics) so if u reapply another in areas that have failed then it should be ok, sealing the paint below. how mani kms?
  24. tell me about it i thought the bishi brand was a gonner 6yrs ago with they had that cover up in japan re their trucks. it was all over everyone said. but they have bounced back and have done a FANTASTIC job with regaining their brand name and consumer confidence. wished ud purchase the new lancer? hehe y were u comparing a small car to a medium cars? esp the old lancer?!
  25. we think alike. its funni how people want what they dont have. i have a white camry. boy i wish it were black. yes black shows dirt up like no 2molo, if u get a scratch people would see it miles away, if u get swirls from in proper use of materials to clean your car, or fine scratches from rocks, trees, then u'd see them in the sunshine. BUT if u are an enthusiast for car detailing, then BLACK IS THE ONE YOU SHOULD BUY. black enables you to get the DEEPEST shine, the WETTEST look, and the BEST showroom car OVER any OTHER colour. and more importantly, when u detail your car, your efforts are made worthwhile from the results as said above. light colours might be more "easier" to maintain, but you CANT tell if the car has a good shine or an excellent shine. its just a shine. irrespective of what car care product u buy, how expensive, or how well it works, a light coloured car will NEVER give u the depth, the detail and the contrast of other products. if u detail a car with a $hit product, and do so again with another more expensive reputably product, you cant tell the difference. so theres pros and cons. if u really arent the car detailing enthusiast, then id go for a medium or light colour. cheers
