  1. Noticed that... but I'll compensate it with the different jockey wheel (bigger tyre on it). So it's good IMHO.
  2. Will stiull try... once again - no high hopes there. Is there a error margin set - e.g %%% or just km/ph? They are set to show 5-6 km too high. Any dealer knows that. They dont need GPS.They can use IT (Inteligent Tester) which will show them accurate speed. I tested mine and it was 5 km off ( IT vs gauge) Why would they set them high delibrately? That doesn't make sense to me.
  3. I've had a firendly discussion with the dealer about that... will be bringing my GPS with me for the next service. Don't expect much though.
  4. I used to watch for these insets in console cup holders at the end of the trip because they have a habit of coming off together with the empty coke bottle heading to the recycle bin. 2 or 3 times I picked them up on the bottle before trashing it...
  5. Climate Change will fix that small prob. ;) :) Hybrid Kluger anyone? :D
  6. I leavy in a hilly suburb, plus there's a ridiculous number of traffic lights around that are not in sync (I wonder: instead of all these "green car" initiatives that do nothing why whouldn't they spend maybe half of the money to optimize traffic lights timing in places like this? ). When the only thing I do is driving aorund - it is between 14-15.5. As soon as go go out of my area - it goes down to 12-13 even in a busy traffic.
  7. For whatever it worth - my after narket Grande iPod displays folder name and track name on the touchscreen... as well as allows to select the folder from the touchscreen. Looks like I have different model - Vasitech as far as I remember. Can als use iPod itself if I wish. Works well.
  8. So have they corrected the sppedo error? In general, it looks like your dealer is #$^#^@#^! Some times ago, dofferent car brand... call to the manufacturer of the car did help a lot!
  9. Yep, and we don't care about rattles either.... Glad the rattle story is over. Cheers, Alex
  10. Well, that's great news. Glad its over (fingers crossed). The only problems is - I can't see pcitures! Is there supposed to be a picture attached at the end of your message? Looks like the website is down. Can you please mail me the picture if it is not up soon? Glad you have some time for fishing - not may case (still) unfortunatelly - perhaps till the end of June. Jindabyne trout should think of me as a traitor... When test driving yarris I stopped by my dealer's service manager - great guy always willing to listen - and mentioned the story. He said - if I ever have the rattle - he'll be looking up Toyota internal info or even ring up your dealer to find the cause. I'll mention to him your summary if you don't mind. Yarris... frankly we didn't like it (though the boss does like the speedo in the middle of the dashboard). But for some reason it felt very noisy and rough... will try the 1.5L model. Or perhaps its a better idea to upgrade the boat instead?
  11. I'm glad there is a progress: lets keep fingers crossed it is fixed and waith for your jump on Monday. I'm glad these guys let Toyota and other dealers know what is the problem - I was going to ask you what's Toyota stance on the issue (e.g. if your dealer technical guys can't fix the problem they should ask Toyota, right)... but it look slike it worked the other way around. Please post final findings and the cause as soon as you feel confortable. I haven't got a chance to drive the car when its cold... but I will soon; I see the light at the end of the tunnel for my workload... so next fishing session will give me the opportunity P.S. Today our family goes to the local Toyota dealer... to test drive Yaris for my wife
  12. Perhaps youre right... still I feel this is something I should explore (when have more time from the office). My dealer was good to me so far...
  13. Taka, Not saying you're wrong... but just wondering - where does it say that they don't do the job over $1K? To me not calibrated speedo maybe as much as therad as not-working turn indicator; every drover knows that a slower-tan-it-should-be car on a busy road could cause a lot of havoc...
  14. So it might be a good idea not to drive - even forward - until this "system check" is done?
  15. Used both - took about the same time (12 hours).
  16. Well DOS didnlt have much to boot... these days Windows boot goes for ages telling nothing but this fancy graphics... Point is - when waiting I prefer to see some useful info if unavoidable. have no klue what does this "Checking system" in Kluger does.
  17. Feel much more comfortable in AWD on the road (last car was Subaru). May be biased...
  18. Being towed? :D :D Provided I have the same foot as before - the car is good econ... but the bloody thing stole all the fun from driving! But the ride is good - in my previous car I felt more tired goging from Syd to Snow Mountains than in this car - from Syd to Bri no stops (apart from refuelling).
  19. Apparently (toyotanation is the source) the hybrid (and only hybrid ) model in US displays actual PSI's... that what I'd like to have...
  20. I had some interesting (well for me at least) results on my way from Syd to Bri. I travelled (for the most part) at night and there was almost no traffic on the road. Filled the tank with 98 in Syd. On the Syd-Newcastle and beyond I had 10.0-10.1 for te most part of the road. Somewhere in between I refilled (just in case for I didn't know what's ahead) with just "premium unleaded" - whatever it was - at a country petrol station. Straight after that I had 11.0-11.2 for the rest of the way... until I topped up about 4 hrs from Bri with normal Caltex 98. Soon after that all the way to Bri I had 9.0-9.2. I didn't believe my own eyes so I took a picture of the screen... And the road seeemed to be plain - e.g. even number of up- and down-hills...
  21. What mute button? And yes, I can excuse the car, not Mr Toyota Well, this is 100% repeatable across other car models (re. absense of rear vents in subaru)... sometimes I think they do it on purpose. BTW, I have to go to bed early tonight - Sydney->Brisbane run starts tomorrow. Will see how does Kluger handle this...
  22. I agree with all point re Kluger's standard features... but when talking about cost cutting I was jocking only partially. And that beautiful list of features actually helps me proving that. What I mean is there are too many oversights for a great car already packed with bells and whistles. OK, digital speedo apart... no memory seats, no iPod/MP3 interface in Grande, Grande compass mistery, strange situation with roof rails on one of the models, no xenon lights as an option, the list goes on. Living in a corporate world I believe that is what happened: "Lets build an SUV that will.. blah... blah...", "OK the R&D budget is XXYYZZ", than - budget cuts, project delays, scope changes, last minute requests, finally the list of options (perhaps in a spreadsheet) gets presented to a Powerfull Figure, who just unckecks couple of boxes to bring the total figure down to the target. Depending on whay actually happend, these may or may not be fixed in the next model update...
  23. Welcome to the world of cost cutting...
  24. That's where they were - both front and back...
