  1. lol, I don't know what your tastes are but lets just say that the fat rear end on the Camry will be a little less fat with the addition of a new rear door garnish/number plate surround, so the styling has improved on the rear end, as for the front it will be subtle but in a similar vein to the current model. I can't say anymore in case someone from Toyota is reading I won't see anything on the Corolla because we don't work on that project, I'm sure the first pics available will be via John Mellor's Auto E-News here
  2. I'm 25, on Rating 1 with AAMI = around $1,100 on comprehensive w/standard excess. It was about $150 less when I had the Camry. Peekay, thats a sweet deal you got there :)
  3. Hey illuminati, The info is accurate, facelift for Japanese corollas avaibale May+ & South African ones later in the year, my guess is Sep/Oct/Nov. (although I don't know if the aussie market gets any Jap ones, i.e. the hatch is from SA but what comes out of Japan? Sedan/Wagon?). With regards to what will change, I'm going by experience here with work my company has done on facelifting local Camry & Avalon models, the body shell always remains the same but their is usally slight variation in the front hood & rear boot deck lid to allow for items such as bumpers, grilles, front/rear aero kits, rear door garnishes & new head & tail lamps. So that is more my prediction than any concrete info because I have not seen the designs. Interior will more than likely be colour & trim changes rather than any design changes. The company that does the design work on Camry/Corolla/mr2 for TMC is Kanto Auto Works, been working with them in the last 6 months on the local Camry facelift, thats gonna be rolling off the lines in August this year (in dealerships September). Website: Kanto Auto Works
  4. Facelift program for the Corolla (South African-built ones) will be on the market towards the end of this year, around Sep/Oct/Nov. Corollas manufactured in Japan (not sure which of the Corolla variants these are?) will be available May this year. Expect new design on the grilles, Front & Rear Bumper Cover, Front Aero Kit, Side Skirts & in the interior not much should change except for some trim & colour variation...
  5. Nah...really, whats the point? I've already caught my cat on the bonnet twice Car cover on of course :P
  6. It was mounted on only 2 hinges, not all 4...Strathfield Car Radio did the installation for the dealer...so what must have happened when I stalled it may have got dislodged ever so slighlty & it made it inoperable. Thank god it wasn't a faulty unit. Just a faulty installation job <_<
  7. TMCA were advertising it for $4250 on their website when they first added the Spotivo section to their website, but they no longer list the price. I know for a fact Toyota CSD (Customer Services Division - P&A Altona) get it in for around $3K from TMC & sell it on for $3,800+ Don't be suprised at dealers trying to flog them off for around $5K either The old back-of a truck method is the most cost-effective though :P
  8. Yeh I did mention it all went kaput after I stalled. It was working fine before that. But I doubt there is any relationship. That's what I mean. Just find it weird that is just does not operate anymore. I'm clueless on electronics. I'm taking it in to the dealer on Monday to have a have look. Its probably something simple like a reset switch. I dunno *shrug*.
  9. Hey guys... So far Mongoose, Flashpoint & Black Widow have been recommended...any other suggestions for an upgrade? NRMA have a handy list here: Car Alarms
  10. No I didn't say that dude ;) I'll post back what the problem is once the dealer looks at it.
  11. I am not sure exactly, to be honest. I can't recall what % the discount was. but it would have been around the $35K mark, drive away.
  12. The only below average rating is for security features...why is this so?
  13. Overseas quality - a myth when it comes to Toyota's global quality systems. Toyota quality systems are the same for every manufacturer world wide. Australia, Thailand, South Africa, Canada, North America, Japan etc. They have the same quality systems & quality targets to meet. Eventually, like everything in life, it takes a while to get certain things up to speed. I am not exactly sure how long Toyota has had a presence in SA; if its recent then I am sure they have many manufacturing issues to overcome. But the quality targets will still be the same. The company I work for does work for SA manufacturers - VW, Ford & General Motors Delta. Very similar working culture to that in Oz here. Anyways just my 0.2cents :)
  14. *bump - I would like to know as well...
  15. I paid $29,317 which included $3000 trade-in ('94 Camry) & Toyota Partner Discount. Extras: Black Mica paint, tow bar & Sat. Nat. unit fitted Dealership: Patterson Cheney Toyota (Keysborough, Melbourne).
  16. Hmm interesting. I ordered my Sportivo Dec. 15th & picked it up Dec. 30th. By chance one had touched down & was being held in Customs when I enquired. Black exterior w/ Mica Metallic Paint Finish. Had a Sat. Nat. unit & tow bar fitted as well. Should have got the sports pedals Demand imo would be high but it has nothing to do with a slow production process coming out of South Africa. I know how Toyota manufactuirng works its a Global system & platforms they use - they would churn out x amounts of cars daily on a consistent basis - at full capacity. It is def. a demand thing.
  17. Hey guys...this is my first post here, so hi :D I picked up my Sportivo from the dealer a couple of days ago...had a Sat. Nat. unit fitted as an extra...working fine until last night, it will not start/light up/operate/nothing, can't even get audio to come on. Blank Screen. It seemed to stop working after I stalled the car *blush* I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to get it looked at but being Jan. 1st today I was hoping someone may be able to suggest some possible solutions? Thanx in advance.
