  1. Interesting. I've got a 2007 SX6 and it wouldn't go past 215km/h or so. The revs drop off after this and i loose speed. Don't remember the exact speed i was doing when the limiter cut in but when i looked back at the dash my speed had dropped back past 210km/h. Sounds like i should take it back to the dealer if you guys are saying 230km/h plus. Got this off the carsales.com.au website for the SX6: Acceleration - 0-100km/h (secs) 7.4 Maximum speed (km/h) 228 Can't find where i saw the 215 limit or if i was told by the dealer. Can't find it in the owners manual either...
  2. Okay, sounds like a suicide mission but i gotta ask... Does anyone know of any way to bypass/disable or otherwise remove the 215Km/h speed limiter on the Aurion. I read a review a little while ago (in Wheels magazine i think) where they compared the Aurion to the new Falcon and the current model Commodore. They quoted the top speed of the Aurion around 240Km/h but most (or at least mine) is electronically limited to 215Km/h? So what's the deal? A simple yes or no will do. I'm already well aware of the legality and danger of driving too fast but it's a personal choice and more over, Falcons and Commodores don't have the same restrictions as far as i'm aware. Please, no lectures. Just delete the thread if you guys don't approve of this topic. I won't winge about it. That said, anyone with an Aurion that isn't speed limited or anyone who knows... What is the real top speed capability of the non TRD Aurion?
  3. You paid $37,500 for a TRD Aurion? I haven't seen one for less than $40,000. Well done mate. Looks like those cars weren't as popular as Toyota expected. They're having a hard time selling any of the Aurions in WA, they keep changing the prices...
  4. I know it gets a bit long winded but if you read back through all the posts on this thread, other people have had similar or even the opposite problem. One of the members claimed the economy wouldn't get worse than around 8.5L/100Km. Disconnecting the battery for 20 seconds or getting a dealer to reset the system (probably just disconnected the battery for 20 seconds or more <_< ) and the car started giving a more accurate reading. I think it should improve after your next service because of the grade of oil they apparently use for running the motor in. Even so, this is the exact same problem i've had since buying the car - really bad fuel economy. Hence the post about finally getting the car on the open road and taking a picture of what i thought was a myth.
  5. Yeah, you can see from the picture the tank is still pretty full. The needle goes way over the full mark when you fill up mind you. I checked after putting up my post and the entire trip was almost exactly 100km. It's since gone to 10.4L/100Km driving to the shops and stuff.
  6. I've had my SX6 for around 4 months now and have always averaged 11.5L/100Km or worse. Although i attribute that to my heavy footed driving style, even when i take it easy i'm lucky to see any better economy. For the first time since i've had the car (with no services done since getting the car with 16,000kms and no ECU resets) i got 9.4L/100Km. I filled up the car with BP Ultimate 98 like i always do and hit the freeway to head for the coast. Using the cruise control most of the way on 105Km/h (average speed for the trip was more like 62Km/h according to the car) i finally got the best average i've ever seen. I've been driving a bit around the suburbs today and it's only gone up to 10L/100Km. I forget the distance of the trip but there was a bit of stop start driving through 60 and 70 zones before i hit the freeway. The attached piture was on the final leg home at night, stopped at the lights in a 60 zone. I actually drove the whole trip within the speed limit too... Up until this point i thought the 9.9L/100Km claim was just a blatant lie. I stand corrected... Yeah, i was so happy i took a picture
  7. But if he has a SX6 though, isn't the spring/shock setup different to the TRD, therefore effectively creating a different environment for the wheels. Yes, a smaller environment. The TRD Aurion sits lower (and firmer) the the SX6.
  8. True, but places like Tech9 tyres will do some for around that price (well kinda 245/35/19 93y $260 Nankang NS2). That's in WA mind you. www.tech9tyres.com.au
  9. Strange you should say that. The TRD Aurion (or TRD 3500S & SL) has a different size to what you've been told to fit on your car. From the TRD web site: "The four 19x8" performance alloys improve brake ventilation and preserve impact resilience. Wrapped in 245/35ZR 19 Dunlop SportMaxx Performance tyres, they're the perfect link between the technology of the car and the surface of the road."
  10. I quite like the foot brake and got used to it real quick. I've never driven off with the foot brake still on. I do however tap my foot a couple of times on the foot rest of my girlfriends car when i drive it before i realise it has a hand brake.
  11. I know you have to submit a flight plan for a start. Obviously it has to be approved. Drug traffickers used to use light aircraft (not internationally tho), and could fly from one private property to the next as long as they submit a flight plan. No customs involvement. Well that used to be the case. From farm to farm was the best front for this purpose. Don't ask me how i know this...
  12. That's an option i was looking into as well. In addition to my previous post, I got the prices over the phone no problem. Didn't say anything about having to have a TRD tho. I went into a dealer to look over the TRD 3500S to check the bumper lay out and fitting/mounting points etc. I asked the sales guy about buying the kit and he said he didn't know the rules about it. He just implied that "you would probably need a VIN and/or Chassis number much the same as Holden requires for HSV parts purchase" So get the numbers and order the parts for around $2200 for the factory TRD mags... 2200?? woww they told me 4k. what a bunch of liars. 2200 is without tires yes? Yeah, i was told $1000 each to start off with. When i quizzed him about tyres etc he said "actually i'll just look them up on the system..... they're $553 each" That's from a Toyota (TRD) dealer in Perth. Scarborough Toyota i think it was. I got the number from another thread...

  14. Funny you should ask... I called up a TRD dealer for a price on the the body kit and mags. YES I WANTED TO DO A KIT TRD. Call me what you want but for the extra $25 - $30K for a supercharged version of the Aurion i just cant justify the expence either. I want the looks without spending the money, so sue me... Aside from some badges, you wouldn't be able to tell a kit TRD from the genuine article. Point being that with the strict road rules and ridiculous penalties it's a real gamble buying a full on high performance car. But you can still have a mean looking car that goes hard and gets good fuel economy. The 19 X 8 Wheels were $553 each and around $1000 per bumper. The dealer tried telling me the bumpers wouldn't fit on my SX6 cos "it was a different shape". I think the body kit would look pretty good on any Aurion.
  15. Yeah, first off don't rush into it. The price of these things keep coming down. The special edition (touring model i think) has most of the same stuff. Make sure you get it at a good price. I'd have to say the worst thing would be the factory tyres. They're crap. The TC and VSC and ABS have a really hard time with them. I've found quite a few people on this site have already put better tyre/mag combos on their Aurions. Something i would do but i'd rather put the money on the loan for the car. Aside from that, they're great. I'd probably recommend the ZR6 instead if you can make the leap up a model. I obviously couldn't... Still happy with the car tho...
  16. Sorry, couldn't make it. Slept in after going on the Untamed Car Club cruise on Friday night. Had to do shopping in the morning. Had a go at the Skylines and Scoobies, etc. Lets just say the Aurion is quicker than people were expecting, and the VSC gave the AWD cars a good run through the twisty bits. Half the clowns asked if it was the 240Kw Aurion (as if it would have been an excuse that they had their ****s handed to them). Na, sorry, it's just a stock SX6. Anyway, would have been good to meet you all. Hope to catch you all on the next one. Nice bunch of Corollas by the way. Love the pics.
  17. Any non toyota cruises are fine too, or is it against the rules to post a non TOCAU cruise. If nothings on tonight i'm going fishing...
  18. I've done the following: No Mechanical changes to the drivetrain at this stage.. Lowered 55mm 18" Wheels New JBL Amp, 6x9 speakers, LC6i signal convertor, Dynamat on doors Tint Lowering it, and adding wider wheels made a huge dufference to the handling. F#CK that looks good in white. Love your work. Who lowered it 55mm? TRD springs or after market jobbies?
