  1. Yeah they look alright but I like the B.Boss rims as they arc inwards to the central hub rather than arcing out. Gives them more of a concave look
  2. Mmmmm - I like these rims. Might have to check on the price. Anyone know a reseller in Sydney ? B.Boss Eleanor
  3. I don't think I've ever lost a set of keys to any of the cars that I have owned. New the Aurion comes with 2 full keys + remotes and 1 valet parking key (non Smart Entry). If I only had one set with a second hand car I'd consider getting another one just in case some smart person locked then in the boot.
  4. Yeah they are the guys @ Kirrawee I might drop into on the weekend - It's just around the corner from my house
  5. I still have the mdf with the cutouts in it.. These could be used as a template. Do you think you could trace the cutouts on paper and post them. I wouldn't mind at least making the mounts before I pull the doors apart just to reduce the time the car is in peices. Did you trim and further after you cut them out ? Obviously the speaker cutout is dependant on what speakers I use . . . Also - are there any electrical connectors I'd need to buy to match the existing speaker cable connectors or are they just spade connectors to the speakers?
  6. At the moment with the fuel price fluctuation I rearly get to use a full tank of fuel unless I've travelled alot over the weekend. Tuesday's being the lowest petrol price day in Sydney I travelled all week from last Tuesday and still had 1/4 of a tank left. I've been trying to run the tank as low as possible, when I got the car a full tank of fuel indicated 507kms cruising range. I've now managed to get that up to 560kms but it only seems to change the cruising range when I run those distances on one tank of fuel. I'm trying to get the cruising range up to 600kms but it will probably have to wait until I do a long distance trip. Good to know that once I hit 0kms crusing range that I have about 50-80kms I might still be able to travel. As for running the tank low, any water or impurities that don sink to the bottom will float on the top of the fuel. When you run it low you have a greater risk of drawing those impurities into the system. The crap at the bottom isn't really an issue cause the fuel pick up point is well above the bottom of the tank - and hence why you will never fill the car with 70L at the pump.
  7. Don't think you should use seat covers as there is an airbag that is in the door side of the seats. If you cover the seats it will significantly reduce this airbags effectiveness.
  8. Yeah - I got an 80Gb iPod, not that it's full but it's far easier to plug in a pod than search through numerous MP3 CDs. With the 20Gb I have on my pod now I'd need 14 CDs. Might give the guys a visit that sell the Neo Pro links, they are around the corner from me. But it seems strange that they say it just plugs into a socket but DJKOR saids:
  9. Not sure why Toyota did not include an input jack connection for external music players. Most other toyota models have a input jack however the Aurion's audio unti does not. Has anyone figured a way to connect an iPod to the head unit. Currently I'm using a Griffin transmitter however the sound quality is not 100% since it's using the FM transmission. Is there an input jack in the rear of the headunit ? If someone has pulled there out maybe they would know. I don't want to pull mine out to find that there is none.
  10. We made 2 spacers, first one 16mm and the other 9mm. The 16mm spacer is the cutout of the original speaker mount and the other is slighter larger then the new speaker and both pieces are glued and screwed together to make a one piece pod. There is also weather strip material on both sides to stop rattles etc and then the entire spacer is sealed in the car. You didn't make a template for the pods/speaker mounts did you ?
  11. ... and reduce visible light thereby increasing privacy. As you described, reducing IR though would act as a heat insulation of sorts ? So increasing the insulation property of the vehicle (most noticeable in summer?) and increasing privacy... isn't that why people usually get window tinting ? At least that's my criteria. I haven't made the leap yet, and although I've had the Presara now for 4 months, I still miss the privacy of the window tinting I had in my last car. My idea/point about the UV-sensitive tints was more in line with having a changing level of tint based on amount of UV. So at night there would be less tinting to avoid the reduction in visibility. However, as you point out, UV gets filtered out so for this to work (assuming that there is such a film) the tint would have to be applied to the exterior rather than the interior (as the glass filters UV before reaching the interior film). Exterior film application would be silly though ? Just an idea... Here's another question about the tinting process. Given that the film is applied on the inside, how well are the windows actually cleaned prior to the film being applied ? What's used to clean the windows ? Might seem like a silly question, but have you ever tried to clean the car windows (especially the rear window) to such an extent that it is absolutely spotless and streak-free? Seems to me like quite a challenge, and to have film applied over a bad clean job would permanently seal that disappointment in? Maybe there's a scientific explanation why this is not important if you add another layer on top with no gap for light to be refracted? Once you have window tint you should not wash the tint side of the window with anything other than water. At the most use a window cleaner but only the clear stuff not the blue coloured stuff cause it has ammonia in it. I watched the guy do my windows and the cleaning process was pretty thorough and quite alot of water was used. Normally the reason they don't let you watch, I was quite amazed at how much water was actually used. To get a streak free finish I use a wet cloth and then dry newspaper . . .
  12. I think a visit to toyota is probably the best way to get touch up paint. My Aurion came with a small bottle of toyota touch up paint and I bought the car second hand. Obviously the previous owneres knew what it was and left it with the car. As for the key - I'd assume that the matching of the car to the new key would be in the service manuals. I haven't downloaded the whole manual but maybe someone that has would be able to search the manual for it (if it's there)
  13. But . . . isn't it +2" for the largest rim for production on the car. Therefore if the TRD has 19" + 2" = 21". The TRD is an Aurion also with 19" rims from production. I remember on my Mazda 3 it came with 16" but the SP23 had 17" so we could have 19" legally.
  14. If you put on 20's with a lower profile tyre won't the overall 'wheel' size remain the same. No need to lower anything ??? Maybe I just misunderstood the question
  15. I had mine done with Johnson Window Tint: Greystone on the rear to not interfer with the radio antenna ~30% VLT http://www.johnsonwindowfilms.com/GSN.php Silhouette on the sides, metalised tint ~32% VLT http://www.johnsonwindowfilms.com/SP.php# All done for $200 from a mate of a mates Looks good
  16. Yeah - the Toyota link thing in just a mobile phone. I know it is the same in the Holdens and a friend of mine has opened it all up and installed his sim card and a dial pad to actually make phone calls. Not that he makes many cause it's charged to Toyota and they might get suspicious with outgoing calls. He also worked out the number so people can call his car direct and use the hands free.
  17. Yeah the ABS test happens just after taking off but only for the first time. It tests the system once and you hear a clunk or dull tap from all four points. Not sure if this is the noise though. Does it happen everytime you stop and then start or just the first time once you've just started the car ?
  18. Even when the audio system is off ??? That's weird . . . might be a short circuit somewhere in the car and shorting to the audio unit ???
  19. Nice one mate - Starting to see quite a few Aurions around on the roads now . . . good to see people driving good cars :P
  20. Took notice of mine this morning - It idled at 1,500 rpm when I first started.. 1,900 rpm seems quite high
  21. You sure that they don't already do sell it here ? Perhaps the Lexus IS250 is it, just with different styling.
  22. Perhaps the brakes disengaging - if you hold the breaks slightly on and allow the car to roll the breaks make a similar sound . . . ?
  23. The drive is exactly the same just a few added comfort features . . as detailed above
  24. Here is a thread on traction control. It can be turned off but it's not as easy as some cars cause Toyota didn't think to put in a simple switch or button. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=13947
  25. The Aurion was unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show in 2006 and production commenced later in 2006. There is no way you could have a 2005 Aurion. The current Camry did not commence production until 2007. You'd better check the compliance plate for build date, located on the front drivers side door. Post a couple of photos also . . .
