  1. i tried searching for this but didn't find any results If I lower my car (03 stivo) with say king superlows etc, do I need to change the shocks? / will the stock shocks life be significantly shortened?
  2. u shouldnt be using any thing less than 95 as the manual / fuel cap says (premium unleaded only) but 98 is stil the best - for the 2 bucks more its worth it in the extra ks / performance (98 = 4 cents more a litre than 95)
  3. I just ordered an AEM CAI from eBay - was advertised for 177US +90 delivery, i made a best offer of 135 US +90 postage and won it ($225US is about 295 AU) stil very very good price for AEM
  4. When i first got the car no rattles existed but after a while of 'hard' driving it has become more evident The rattling only happens when i drive LONGISH distances meaning more than 10 ks or so - possibly once the car is really warm?? My noise starts at around 3300 RPM and goes all the way up to 8100 I’m hopefully going to be buying an AEM CAI very soon - would that have any effect on either diminishing the rattling / making it more evident

  6. when i ordered it was all gone :( where can i get this installed???? best mufflers - will do the job with flange joint for 55bucks (well that what i payed about 5 months ago on previous corolla)
  7. i 2nd that -i put 4 brand new Yokohama C drives 205/50/16 on my stock stivo rims - HUGE handling improvement, especially in the wet :) was worth the extra bit btw - Bob Jane T mart - Hornsby, Sydney NSW - they did me a deal of 180 a tyre, which i think was a pretty good price, highly recommended!!!
  8. Toyota Corolla Sportivo 2003 http://carsguide.news.com.au/story/0,20384...0-27286,00.html http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_...toy_corspor.htm http://www.mynrma.com.au/corolla-sportivo_toycorolla_spo.asp
  9. if had my sportivo for about 6 weeks now and coming from an AUTO ascent just like you i noticed a huge diff even with using lift. before i got this car i had never driven a manual before so ovb getting used to the gearbox as well as manual itself was quite strange and new, but i finally seem to be getting smooth in shifting and taking off. since i learnt manual, ive driven a few of my friends cars (180sx, s13 etc) and the gearboxes seem SOOOO EASY to drive, soft, smooth etc - i cant say what i prefer as they are all so different, but yeh our gearbox is quite a tough one, especially getting into reverse sometimes
  10. it sounds more like a buzzing, like a piece of metal touching a moving part creating this rattling/ buzzing sounds. Sorry if that doesn’t help much - its quite hard to describe, im going try get a friend to record the sound when im hitting lift and ill post the sound up here (if i can work out how to do that lol)
  11. I dont think its coming from the engine bay - seems to me like its either coming from gearbox or behind dash area???
  12. I’ve noticed quite a bit of rattling whilst using LIFT - but it only occurs when there’s additional people in the car i.e. when its just myself, there’s no rattling, but as soon as you add another person (say 70kg+) a rattle develops in LIFT and becomes more and more prominent. I took it in to Toyota for its 50k service and the mechanic said if the car requires it clutch adjustment they will do it, when I got the car back the mechanic said they clutch did not need adjusting. Does any one know what else could be causing the rattling – possibly something to do with suspension?? I dont think its coming from the engine bay - seems to me like its either coming from gearbox or behind dash area???
  13. question: Does the 1zz engine (manual) and 2zz engine perform very similar under where lift kicks in i.e. up to about 6100 revs? as the toyota states the 1zz uses SFI fuel injection where as the 2zz uses MFI fuel injection. (hence the different codes - 1zz- fe and 2zz-ge)
  14. do all levins have the same dash as seen in the 360degree view (06 model) - is it just a sportivo dash with changed colurs etc?
  15. are the levin seats different to those of the conquest / ascent? also isnt the levin steering wheel the sportivo one?
  16. true, is a good price (go the airbags lol :) - but i dont understand why toyota have taken things like the leather seats and climate control out of the levin, you would expect they would come things like that
  17. but we are speaking about purchasing the car NEW, so that rules out all of the above mentioned cars, the comment i was trying to make was that for 28k brand new (alot of people wont buy 2nd hand cars.. comes down to personal choice) the car is more than worth it
  18. for 8k more than the entry level corolla, i think its definitely worth it (if you have the bucks lying around). when comparing it with any other NEW car on the market (at the time) it was well worth its price - between 03 and 05 there were nt many competitors close by in price (i think the astra turbo was about 8k more than the stivo?? and has the added cost of expensive insurance (for a turbo) as well as lacking some of the features (correct me if im wrong) like leather seats, climate control etc - yes the engine is more powerful than a stivo ... but its turboed!!
  19. 'replacement' In adverted commas, Toyota on their website whilst not outright saying its their replacement, implied will be taking over as their sporty hatch... "The Toyota Corolla Sportivo ceased production in October 2005 and is now no longer available for purchase. The Corolla Levin hatchback model now has the Sportivo front skirt (from February 2006 production" im sure in the near future we will see the range of TRD's taking over as toyota's performance vehicles
  20. when you think about it, for $28k or what ever similar figure you people payed for your stivo, the unparalleled benefits you got from it (considering the new Levin, which is Toyota’s 'replacement' to the Sportivo, is $28k+on roads and unlike the stivo does NOT have leather seats, climate control and outdoor temperature gages, the 2zz-ge engine and 6 speed gear box etc, etc) is remarkable. a nice thought :)
  21. my car is JUST out of warranty, (03 stivo) and i think i need the clutch adjustment done as well as sometimes when i hit lift i hear a rattle / vibration from the gear box area. Can ones normal mechanic do the job? (can they find out the info from Toyota?) - if your out of warranty, what would it cost to get the adjustment done?
