  1. yes engine is at driving temp.. i would never thrash a car that is not at driving temp... as i would always make sure i cool my car down after a hard drive as well..
  2. I doubt lift bolts as they fixed these in the engine revision in 2003. The VVL filter in located on the rear of the engine next to the VVL solenoid. he took it back to toyota today and they pluged their computer into the ecu and found out that it was the OCV.. they have put one on order for him and it will soon be fixed hopefully. sorry for the noob qestions but is the VVL filter is this the same thing as the OCV filter? and do you have any pics? cheers SD
  3. just got back from another test drive.. and would say no.. it doesn't go into the high lift cams. after doing some research, some info i found.. lift works according to oil, temp and pressure (i'm new to lift, lol) so could be OCV or filter - oil control valve or could be lift bolts, could you guys help me locate these? any other ideas?
  4. hey guys, tried doing a search but had mostly gear box issues come up, not really what i was after. shifting is fine.( feel free to point me in the right direction) anyway one of my cousins just got a 05' face-lift corolla sportivo.. nice and tidy car, stock as a rock with 80,000km. the bad thing is that the car dosen't want to rev past 7,000rpm.. i'v been in a few sportivo's in my time, stock and with mods, and this one doesn't seem to pull as hard as the others.. (goes just abit harder then my 1zz-fe) power seems to die down after 6-6.5k and at 7k the car miss fires like its over revving and won't go anymore. anyone else ever had this problem? my cousins taking it back to toyota tomorrow to see what they say. any help would be great.. cheers wil
  5. maybe its worth giving Gunni a pm, as i sold mine to him afew months back and he also tracks.. yes they are both hollow, as far as thickness i'm not too sure..
  6. yep, centerline or if your on the other side of the city, techsport bayswater. good quality work and top guys in melb.. as both of the work shops have race cars and frequently race at winton.. both these workshop charge by hour not not by job like cheap tire shops.
  7. hey guys there was a advertising error with the sportivo it actully had 22,000km on the clock.. still not too bad.. anyways,, long story short... my sister has put down a deposit on the liberty gt.. i know it's a great car on all levels, but i'm not sure it's the best choice for running costs.. i'll keep you guys updated on what happens.. thanks again for all the reply's.. wil
  8. Aurion comes with 3years extended warranty, and the liberty comes with used car warranty 12months or 175,000km.. i too think the Aurion is a smarter buy, and i also think that libert will lose a lot more value after it hits the 100kkm
  9. took the liberty for a test drive on monday, and it wasn't all that fast,, 185kw, but heavy.. and when pushed hard, the trip comp said 18.8lt/100km!!! handled great tho.. :)
  10. thanks for the replies,, the sportivo is a 07 modle, white with only 7,000km, ex demo, it's the ZR6 with lether.. price is $32,990 the liberty is also a 07, but they call it a MY08, it has lether, sunroof, bilstien sus, 2.5 turbo same as new wrx, with 85,000km.. price is $33,388.. the liberty is the older shape 4GEN (imo the best shape that they ever have made), not the new ugly shape.. the sti is out of the qestion, they are $45k+ insurance is $500 cheaper for the sporitvo, fuel avg 9.5lt/100km, to 11.9/100km, sportivo's way agian.. service fee is cheaper for the sportivo, not to mention that the liberty has it's major service coming up in less the 15,000km.. (100,000km service) i'd prob go for the liberty, cause i can mod it and i would also track it,, my sister on the other hand won't be,, she'll just drive it to and from work.. how do you guys think the sportivo will hold it's price in say 5yrs time?? in 3 years the liberty has droped from $60k to $33k thats almost 50%.. subies don't seem to hold their vaule..
  11. hey guys my sister is in need of a new car,, and she's not real sure on which to get.. so i'm after some pro's and con's on the two.. MY08 liberty GT, is 2.5lt turbo, manual, leather, and sunroof.. both are aprox same price,, any help guys?? cheers wil
  12. i got 55,000km and 3 track day out of my RE001's and thats with toe-out and -1 camber on 38-42psi.. i got 55,000km without even hitting the min mark.. the only reason i changed was cause i was going for a road trip to sydney.. they prob would of lasted another 5,000.. as long as you look after you tyres and run the correct pressure for what ever you use them for, they'll last ages.. having said all that next tyres i'll be getting will not be RE001's.. had 2 set's time to try something new ;)
  13. was a good day,, but i too was off my PB,, not many people were as fast as they would like to be.. but all in all a good day.. not sure about you gunni but i was fighting my car all day.. wasnt as smooth as i would have liked..
  14. evo9 rear bar.... nice.... :D and its also nice to see that you have a good work shop behind you,,, techsport ftw.. are you still coming to winton next weekend?? how come i don't see you on the list?? i have to also say,, a nice set of wheels for the CT9A models are the R34 GTR wheels.. a little bit of work is needed to make them fit but they look hot on evo's.. or rays TE37's.. :spiteful: very nice matey.. wil
  15. i managed to find out and just for future ref, they are the same,, ;)
  16. hey guys i'v got my car booked in to get the sportivo exhaust fitted next week,,, how ever the guy wants the spring bolts that connect the muffler to the rest of the exhaust... when i got the exhaust the guys didn't give it to me.. <_< can i use my 1zz spring bolts? will they fit? or do i need to order some in?? cheers guys
  17. cheers SD,, in that case,, i might have to make some time to get under the car tonight and make some measurement to see if it's a straight bolt on to the 1zz manifold.. and as for the O2 sensor i may just screw my stock one on, as you said.. other guys with sportivo exhaust on a 1zz feel free to comment on this thread, gains, likes, dislikes.. any comments SB?? i hear you have fitted a few in the past.. :D wil
  18. hey guys,, after looking long and hard i finally got hold of a sportivo exhaust last week.. i'v got from the headers back.. i know that my cars a sedan so i'll need to extend the mullfer out abit. but i was just wondering whats eles is involved in getting it fitted.. if i wanted to get the sportivo exhaust fitted to my stock headers would it be as simple as cutting the flange off my stock and rewelding it onto the sportivo exhaust? and what about the O2 sensor just before the cat? is the one on the stivo the same as all corollas? or do i have to use my stock one? or am i better off just useing from the cat back? and not worry about the front pipe. < this would be so much easier.. would i benifit from the front pipe anyway? sorry for the noob qestions, looking at getting it fitted asap.. cheers guys wil
  19. Except the mighty DDR CorSpor monsta hopefully Mark Berry's High octain R34 GTR will be there,, give them a good run for there money.. :D
  20. an open day,, by that do you mean the fun days? you don't need a AASA for that you just go and pay $30.. how ever i don't recomend them days.. as theres so many cars you can't get a proper run,, i'm talking 30+ cars on the track at the same time, and mixed performance levels.. events like these are more expensive, but way more enjoyable,, thats why me and Guni can't stay away,, :)
  21. i'll be there, i'm keen to try out my BC coils,, i thought that all the spots have been filled? anyways going to be an great day,, and i'm pretty sure Kolour will be there too,, last time i was there was in Jan,, so i can't wait..
  22. do you have screws in your eyes? cause every time i look at you my nuts tighten..
  23. these look alot like the 'Buddy Club' racing spec dampers.. i'v got the BC coils in my car,, i'v had them for well over 6 months, and i have no complaints.. how ever,, i highly recommend getting the BR series and not the V series, i read a few bad reviews about the V series.. noisy, rattles, too stiff..
