  1. yeah i got the mag the other day... very good read... gotta love the headline.. " One man was able to do what a multi-billion-dollar global powerhouse could not: create a turbocharged Toyota corolla that works..." good stuff mate.. $ANGELO$ i'm hoping to see your supercharged 1zz out there next month ;) :P
  2. lol,, yea true ture.. how about the toyo TPG's or the Pirelli P - ZERO's,,, these are ment to be good tyres also..

  4. kinda like this olly??? :P :P mines a 5spd, white with black surroundings... lol.. i'll sell you mine for $50k... so i can get my evo IX. IMO, the evoX is nice but i would still prefer the evoIX :D
  5. man,, i wouldn't mind a set of the Bridgestone RE-01Rs... :D :D
  6. Compared to BBS, Rays, Work etc they are complete ****. true and true... lenso and konig are reasonable for what you pay for them.. and for the price you pay for a set of 16"/17" (lagit) Rays or Work lightweights, you probly could get 2 sets of lenso or starcrops in 18" with the typical nanking tyres... i'm currently looking for a set of 15" or 16" Rays so i can use on the tracks... and i'm looking at spending about $1000 for second hand wheels only... at the end of the day it's up to you,, if your after looks or practicality... but remember, you get what you pay for. ;)
  7. why not get a set of rims with the red lip? (i think kaze has some on his car) so that way you don't have to get tyres painted every time you get new tyres.. and it won't fade or crack.. but $150 does sound abit much... thats like a new tyre for your spare every time you get it done...
  8. yeah i'm pretty sure it's like what kaze said, it looks like an off the self veilside kit...
  9. as you can probly tell now,,, most guys here like the 'less is more' look... i am one... but to answer your qestion, try Jetspeed, from what i can remember they are in clayton (or somewhere on the east side).. they are a rip off but they have almost every thing or can get what your looking for,,, they also do custom... or you can try cyber century in footscray or springy,, they also do body kits aswell and they are cheap, but be warned they don't fit the best... anyways welcome to TOCAU ;)
  10. Putting that on a 1zz is over kill. 2.25" tops unless you are doing a hell of a lot of internal work. i think was preping him self for the S/C that is strapped to the side of the 1zz now.... :D back to the topic, i'v spoken to a few exhaust places aswell, and afew of them actully said that alot of the cheap stuff will actully make your car go backwards in power... so i think, regardless of what you get, spend your money on proven gains... dosen't matter whther its a CES or a redback...
  11. no problems mate, i too have an 02 corolla ascent, and i run on ether 95 RON or 98RON.. just because it's ment to be a cleaner fuel.
  12. good qestion, had me worried for abit, i'v been looking into bucket seats too... i'v been searching ebay for a cheap one with universal rails.. i don't wanna hi-jack the tread but if the seat is ADR aprroved does that mean it's legal to have them fitted with out an engineers aproval?
  13. Mitsubishi sounds like bits-are-missin... SUBARU backwords is U-R-A-BUS... no wonder they are so slow, lol, (jokes :P )
  14. I'm sorry dude..I have a long affiliation with Toyo's..T1R's for me B) Hey I don't mind man.. I'm tending to lean towards them too :P i haven't tried the t1r's, but they are on my next to try list... so it's hard for me to say... at the time i couldn't get ahold of any proxes or t1r's so thats why i went for the re001's..
  15. I've used the TOyo's from the Proxes to my 2nd round of T1R's .all are great but.......If I had a lil more dosh to burn..RE001's would be shizz Some of the skid pan Motokhana boys swear by them..They might chew up pretty quickly on the extreme but on a daily drive with spurts of spirited driving they handle pretty well i'm currently running RE001's now, for day to day/sprited street driving they are a really good tyre, how ever these tyres will preform alot better with some heat in them. while cold and trying for a quick launch i seem to get afair bit of wheel spin (launching from about 3,500rpm), and this proved to be the same at winton raceway, 1st lap is abit slippery, but when the tyres wormed up i could go faster and carry more speed around corners. all in all, the grip level and feel when warm is outstanding wet or dry.. a very good tyre if you can get them for under $200, bang for buck ;) or theres michelin Pilot Preceda 2, not an agressive tread patten but from what i'v heard are a very good tyre also, i think CAP's running them now... i might be wrong but :P
  16. nice cars mate, both the supra and is200.... i had a NA jza80 supra for about 4 1/2 years, love them... :( 13.2 for an is200... must of had abit of work done... i did notice the 'JEM' sticker :P
  17. rollamods is on the right track, and the wrx turbo is bang for buck. how ever i think, 12psi on stock internals is abit much. you wouldn't want to run that all day every day, because the standered 1zz has a compression ratio of 10:1. not sure on how strong the stock rods and pistons are but 12-14psi is alot of pressure, and with out good tuning you might encounter some problems. but having said that, i'm not surprised to see a 1zz running on 14psi and making 170+kw, if you wanted to keep stock internals i'd say keep the boost under 10psi (to be safe) and get a metal head gasket to drop the compression ratio down abit. + all the things rollamods added.. have you thought about a supercharger kit??
  18. In Perth I can't seem to find the T1Rs for less than 220 :( Unless some of you guys know where to get a really good deal? firestone make better commercial tyres then proformance tyres... so i would say go for the toyo's (all good reports about toyos), not sure about the price of t1r's but proxes 4 i got qouted $165 a corner for 17's. in the end i didn't get them cause they where out of stock, so i got the bridgestone RE001, not a bad tyre if you want to spend around the $250 mark. not too sure what the difference is between the porxes 4 and the T1R's, but i think that the t1r's are better? i'm also getting my 2 new RE001's for the back of my car today, and the guy at bridgestone did say that there was a price rise as of the 1st of aug.
  19. wow xoom really does have big balls... lol i think that at the end of the day you can make your corolla what ever you what it to be... thats whats so good about the corolla's, no matter what model or engine theres always heaps of aftermarket suport if you want it... and if you don't then the corolla is still a very good day to day, reliable, economical car. i have a little 1zz acsent sedan that i like to take out to the tracks. i know i'm not going to blow anyone away, but i'm having fun :P and xoom likes to fly down the 1/4, and correct me if i'm wrong but i remeber reading a PB of 12.5... i'd say watch out lambo's and GTR's :P all in all i'm not a real big fan of the looks of the new corollas but there are some that are poping up that are looking better and better. every one added their 2c so that was mine :D
  20. nice... love the colour... :D
  21. lol, my car looks like that after 2 weeks if i don't wash it.... cause i live on a dirt road... but i never let it sit there till it starts cracking and drying up...
  22. they did a test on a programme over here called "fifth gear" - proper lab conditions engine connected directly to dyno and all that other science stuff when doing comparisions. all products tested actually caused a loss in power so they didnt get recommended. seen another article in a jap mag about a fella in Ireland who rebuilds rotary engines. apparenlt they are mapped to run on super which isnt available in Ireland he advises customers to have the car remapped on normal 95 ron but some ignore his advice and use octane boosters - he doesnt complain as it aint to long before they need a rebuild cos of detonation from the wrong fuel. so from my limited research i wouldnt waste me money. just buy decent fuel - used v power in all me cars and swear by the stuff. i think this is what you are talking about, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj_21dikYR8
  23. this is why it is recomended to use high octane fuels for track or 1/4's... not because it helps for power but helps reduce the chance of detonation. but if you're running stock mappings and you haven't tinkered with antying other than exhaust and intake, you shouldn't be getting detonation, even at the track or drag strip. If you're getting anything other than mild ping then you've got some more serious issues. yea i forgot to mention that,,, :P cause with your factory tune your car should not detonate on 91RON (for us guys with 1zz, and 98RON for guys with 2zz) so as qkslvr said, unless you have your car remapped or retuned for higher octane then there really is no need. but having said that, i don't use fuel additives, but i do use 98RON in my 1zz now and then... not for power but because its ment to be a cleaner fuel.. hope this helps, but i'm keen to see the 1/4 results anyways. :D
