  1. Spotted about 5 minutes ago on High Street Toowong, a white Aurion AT-X at stock height with a black painted bonnet and body length TRD decals. I LOL'ed because it looked bad.
  2. It's not the exact same engine.
  3. Oh well. No one is forcing you to like them. I'm sure they don't care less if they lose someone because of that. They still manage to have a market regardless. That aside, build quality or not, At least Holden and Ford Australia change their engines.
  4. I know what you mean. But when you think about it, they are reusing an engine that was in the Aurion back in 2006. The Aurion can only keep in the game for so long if they choose not to revise their engine.
  5. Oh yeah... I'll be there. Wherever that may be.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsK_1AVXZZY More info: 2GR 3.5L V6 Sprinter drift pig
  7. I'm telling you man if you get the TRD, you are going to want to get some more power out of it. When that desire finally settles in, you are going to be greatly disappointed. Cut your losses and save the disappointment. I know I can't make up your mind for you but I just feel like expressing myself.
  8. Quite a stupid idea in my opinion, but that's just that...my opinion. Fits in there with stick on LED strip DRL's in an attempt to look cool.
  9. Exactly mate..i wanted to mention the fuel economy gain too. I got the similar gain after deleting the mufflers and it sounds awesome plus the acceleration gain is good too. SImply loving it :) In my opinion, I'd be quite surprised if you really did in fact get a lasting fuel economy gain just by the rear mufflers alone. There is quite a lot that can vary the fuel consumption of these cars and I doubt that the rear mufflers (and even the middle resonator for that matter) would make an actual difference. Note I said lasting because the ECU tends to notice changes like that, but it's the ECU doing stuff in the background temporarily that give that impression something is happening. I can't explain that one but I've seen it happen on two occasions after visiting an exhaust shop. Also, more power and better fuel economy don't exactly go together unless you are making your engine burn fuel more efficiently... which there isn't much room to do so for a modern engine like this.
  10. What Steven said. I reckon the plugs would probably last 150,000km in the 2GR-FE... even in the 2GR-FZE, but sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry because you never know if they won't last that long. For the cost of them, I wouldn't exactly call the procedure expensive. If you change them at 100,000km intervals, you are looking at about $1 per 1000km for your spark plugs. Considering your oil filter works out to be around $1.33 per 1000km, that's not bad.
  11. Didn't look at page 3 did you? Try to build up a purchase for the spark plugs from MWR and look at the shipping cost.

    2012 Camry

Seen a couple of Atara's driving around the Brisbane area with promotional decals on etc. I gotta say, in the flesh amongst other cars on the road, it doesn't really stand out much. Not that the Gen 6 did either, but it was more recognisable as a Camry.
  13. Yes, but you try to find a brand name head unit that has the OEM styling of the Aurion head unit.
  14. Personal opinion. FWD can be just as fun depending on how you drive :P In relatio to the original topic, I'm still of the opinion to get the XR6T. I'd chose the extra power and modification ability over te TRD any day.

  16. Funny you mention this. I too have the Autome unit and just yesterday afternoon, it started playing up. Not quite like yours, but playing up nevertheless. My sub keeps cutting out randomly. I have my sub plugged into the stereo out and not the dedicated subwoofer output because I prefer it that way. Basically it comes and goes and sometimes a solid bump in the road or a sharp turn will cause it to come back on when it disappears. The same doesn't really apply for when it cuts out though. I could just be sitting at the lights and it would disappear. It seems to also be affected by temperature (more evidence towards dry joints). I'm suspecting that over time after heating and cooling inside the car all the time, it has developed some dry joints inside on the amplifier components or something. I won't really know until I take it out tomorrow and make a quick inspection. I don't expect to be able to fix it, but I'll do what I can. In other words, I can't really help you out. Sh*t happens... More so with Cheap Chinese Sh*t. Update: Seems like my problem just got worse. Not only is my sub cutting in and out, but the entire low frequency range is cutting in and out on all speakers (which are powered by the head unit). At times it sounds like the sound is only coming from the tweeters. I think this unit is going to be destined to the bin.
  17. I don't think I'd be buying another Aurion again unless they put in a new engine that actually is worth talking about... unlike the Camry. Since they want to stick with the 2GR I'd imagine, looks like this may be my last Aurion.... hopefully not Toyota too.
  18. Top effort in looking at the date of the original post. In case you weren't aware, electronics were kinda more expensive 4 years ago.
  19. The XR6 Turbo etc is like junk food. May be bad for you but it sure is enjoyable. You accept the good with the bad. The TRD on the other hand is like a salad. It will probably do you better in the long run, but no matter what you do, it still isnt anything grand in the end. Personally, if I could have taken this path again, I would have bought the XR6 Turbo.
  20. It has nothing to do with your springs etc. It comes from the brake components. If you can't put up with it, pull out your ABS fuse and ignore the Check Engine Light. Of course that would just be stupid though. Seriously, it goes for less than a second and is only when you first start the car so there really isn't enough cause for complaint.
  21. Even better... after staring for 20 seconds, close the tab or change windows.
  22. What a waste of $2000. Just sayin'. Only because there is so much out there that would look much better on an Aurion... not to mention the TRD wheels are heavy as. I'll be damned if he gets that much for it though.
  23. Holiday has been approved so I can safely say that I will definitely be there.
  24. THAT'S IT! YOU ASKED FOR IT>
