  1. Call a dealer bud. DK: My mistake... for some reason was thinking late 11 was the release.. :-( not so... was 2010 as you said. http://www.caradvice.com.au/79189/toyota-kluger-facelift-coming-q4-2010-no-change-to-prado/
  2. 7 seat will be the same from wherever. Phone a dealer and ask them. You could also include it in your offer to the used car yard. Why does that car have a current model grille???
  3. 2010 KX-R 44k/k 7 seat 2wd towbar @ $36000. 2012 KX-R 6km (new) 5 seat 2wd towbar, nudge bar, weather shields, mats, full tank, $37,500 drive away. Decision is easy :-) The used one in the link has the grille of the updated model late 2011?? Odd?
  4. It is not difficult to pick a car that has not had regular oil changes and used good oil David... :-) Stamps in a book mean bugger all to me. The car I traded in on the Kluger, an 07 Camry, they only asked if I had the log books and not if it had service history recorded, which it did. When I handed them the log books on pickup day they did not even look in them.
  5. Yes David... I reckon they would have as many kluger/highlanders on the road over there as we have people LOL. The good side is theirs is virtually identical to ours, the 3.5v6 anyway. They also have 4 cyl and hybrid. Panasonic battery should be top quality as you say. Another "old timers" way to check if an alternator is working without a multimeter is to turn the lights on and while you are watching the lights get someone to start the car. If the lights go brighter when it starts then the alternator is working. Cheers M8
  6. At least mention it so it is on record. That 950 rumble is more noticeable when cold because while you are waiting a couple of minutes for it to settle down it will pass through the 950rpm range. That US site is good value. Having a lot more on the road helps for more feedback. The only real thing I noticed of any importance was what oil to use. Most have found that 10-30 is the go. I wonder what the dealers will put in?... pointless asking them as most would not know nor care. Whatever they use it is their responibility if it does not do it's job. In the US the owner is allowed to do their own oil / filter change and it does not affect their warranty. They have to keep receipts for the consumables as prooof. I wish we could do the same here. Every new car I have ever owned has been messed up by a dealership. It is ironic... Toyota Australia do not trust us to do our own oil change but they do trust a teen age apprentice who usually could not give a schmick!!! :-( Such is life LOL.
  7. The ones that fit into the blanked out space on the KX-R so it will look like a KX-S?
  8. Welcome to the tribe Kalpesh. Looks like you got a hot price on one magnificent motor vehicle!!! :-) I'm sure you will be more than pleased with your choice.
  9. Hi Loon & David. Mine shudders in reverse when cold... but I don't worry much about that as it is only for a short time. Soon as it is in D it is silky smooth. As for the 950 "rumble" it seems like it is a characteristic of the 3.5v6. You would never notice it unless you were purposely trying to make it happen. It is a good motor, that is a proven fact, so not to worry. Cheers... :-)
  10. Hi David. I find it hard to believe that radio/satnav unit would chew a battery out that fast? I have seen on the US Kluger (Highlander) site where some time back there was a (USA) TSB issued for something to do with inadequate charging from the alternator. It is in here somewhere... http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/122-2nd-generation-2008-2012/ It's a shame that Toyota Australia considers their customers to be idiots and prevents access to such information here. Tip... Do you have a multimeter?? If so set it to DC & higher than 20V and note the reading prior to starting. Start the motor and see what it reads then... it should be much higher which will indicate the alternator is charging ok. It is not unusual for a battery to last 10yr + in a Toyota under normal circumstances. Your's being only 5yo should be ok... btw, how many k's on it? Another tip... if you park your car in a garage overnight do not leave the keys in the ignition. I was told that this will shorten your battery life in modern cars. Cheers M8... let us know the outcome. :-)
  11. Thanks David... I could replicate it on any current model Kluger, no problem. Mine now has 3300 k's. The dealer actually noticed it at the 1000k service without me mentioning it. I took it back recently just for that to be looked at and while they did acknowlege it they had no idea of the cause. When we found that a new Kluger in the yard also did the same thing it was placed under the good old relaible escape clause of "they all do it". I have been frequenting the US site for Klugers (called Highlander over there) and their forum is a little more active than this one :-) heaps more owners over there. Wander over, it is very interesting and Toyota USA seem to be less reluctant to pass information to their customers. Toyota Oz seem to treat vehicle information as a company secret to which you have no right. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/122-2nd-generation-2008-2012/
  12. No comment?? So it seems that mine and the new one in the car yard are the only two in oz that have it?? No probs...
  13. 100 meters is not that far, a human sprinter can cover it in under 10 seconds. My 100mr PB is 19.01... (minutes that is ) I have given up on Vortex around here .. (2285) I have not experienced any difference over ulp for so long I am no longer donating to their booty. The same with Shell around here. With BP Ultimate I can notice the difference so will be sticking with that or good old ulp in the future. I achieved the magic 7 number using BP Ultimate so can't argue with that. Graeme... would the body kit cause more wind resistance and not help your economy? From owning many straight 6's and a recent 10 yr stint owning a sweet Toyota 3L V6 the way to drive them is with a gentle touch... just let the momentum build up, no need to drive them like a 4cyl. If someone beats you to the next lights then so be it.. It bugs my mrs... my Kluger kills her 07 2.4 4cyl Camry on economy .
  14. +1 to what Croco said plus check the PCV valve... they can get sticky and need a clean or replacing.
  15. Hi Loon. It should not do that. At idle in N/P or D you can't tell the engine is running. It might settle down when it is run in a little more. Report it when you take it back for the 1000k service so at least it is on record if you have trouble later on.
  16. In that photo you will find the pcv valve is about 20mm to the left. Unclip and remove the hose then unscrew the pcv valve from the tappet cover if you need to check it. With these noisy engines I did find over on the US site Toyota Nation that the Highlanders (3.5L V6) were having similar problems but most seem to be cured when they used 10-30 oil?
  17. It won't help matters Graeme but have a look at what the 2wd Kluger 3.5 V6's have been delivering but it shows what that motor can do. A friend has an Aurion and they have had 7's during an interstate trip. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/13314-fuel-consumption-survey-35l-kluger/page__st__135 As you say it has dropped since your last service I wonder what oil they put in it? I have heard of instances with other makes where they have found a cheaper grade of oil was used. Penny pinching at the extreme? but it happens.
  18. I've got about 3300 k's on the KX-R now and ever since new it has had a slight engine vibration @ around 950 rpm. Dealer had a look at it today and while they had no idea of what exactly would be causing it we did find that another new Kluger in the yard did exactly the same thing. I now assume they all do it, but why? Anyone else here with the 2008 onwards 3.5L engine found the same thing? It does it when hot or cold. It is most noticeable when in park or N and just hold the accelerator at that rpm. It feels like some vacuum device is delaying or hesitating right at that rpm. I had a look at the US site Toyota Nation to see if any there had the same symptom with a Highlander but the closest I could find was an article dealing with a brake booster vacuum valve that they found to be defective on the 2008 plus models. As the same motor is fitted to the Aurion, Rav4 and Tarago I might have a look in their threads for anything similar.
  19. Welcome to the forum Loon. Thanks for posting the specs. Enjoy driving that great car. Assuming you got the KX-R model at that price?
  20. Some more info on the "noise at startup". http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/122-2nd-generation-2008/375214-weird-noise-after-start-up.html The US Toyota forums for the Highlander is a good place for info... some interesting reading in there.
  21. 170-180 ! ?? Would I love to let mine loose like that! @ 110 seems like "get out and walk" :-( 4WD Version am3037?? EDIT>... Just saw your other post... 2WD.
  22. I have 5 phones now registered with my Kluger KX-R radio and they all work perfectly. What am I doing wrong... I am sure it is a Toyota??
  23. Hi Silk... I assume these are the satnav type units and not the basic radio from the KX-R? If so then how much are they asking for them? Cheers.
  24. Thanks for the backup David... I was hoping someone here would as the figures are difficult to believe with a vehicle of this size/weight/motor/power. You would easily do the 7.0 or better then without a load and aircon. I would love to see a pic of a sub 7.0 !!! C'mon... someone can do it..!! When the word gets out the streets should be full of Klugers?? They would make the perfect taxi?
