Best Fuel for Aurion's

Hi, don't know if anyone has done a test yet but I would be interested to know what Aurion owners are using to get best performance and km for their fuel.

Shell V-Power?

BP Ultimate?

Caltex Vortex 98?

Mobil Synergy 8000?

Other?

I've yet to try them all, but I've found the car runs exceptionally well on the Ethanol blend; no pinging nothing.

As for litres to the 100km I don't get too finicky about it really, after all if your worried about a few dollars a tank can you ever really afford to give it alittle and have some fun?

For what its worth I rented a Presara when I was in QLD last week and for 3 days I worked that car like no tomorrows. Craking 200km on the straights of the Bruce Highway a few times even. Obviously this was my chance to see what the car is truly capable of without having to giving mine a hard time...

Now I don't know what fuel was in the tank to begin with, but its a safe bet given it's a renta car that it wasn't one of the premium blends out there and despite me giving it assholes for 3x days travelling almost 400km the car averaged 13L/100km. Now that's cheap motoring; if i did that in my old 2003 6 cylinder Holden Calias it would be atleast 16L/100km.

Hope this helps.

By the way, have any of you discovered that with the wheels turned from stationary, when you plant your foot the traction control is really slow to take effect. I did this on the renta and I had to back off else I was likely to create too much attention from the squeal of spinning wheels that seemingly never stoped.

I've got no choice, only Shell, but can't feel the difference between V-Power or 95 or 91.

ive owned many toyotas in my life and the best performance giving fuel is shell optimax.no doubt about it. it also contains the most octane out of all the other competitors. try it and you cant go wrong with it.

i found that driving around the city, the fuel type doesnt make that much difference.

We dont have Shell V-Power Racing up here.. BPU is all we got!

Just to clear it up... i had a very in depth conversation with a guy today who was trying to say that there is no difference..... which i kindly pointed out the 20cents per litre price difference, which happened to drop his jaw a little... hehe

And i notice no signifigant difference between Caltex Vortex 98 and Shell V-Power (98 Octane)... But since i hit the 30000km mark ive been running the car on nothing but V-Power Racing (100 Octane) and the results are remarkably different. (See Below from spreadsheet)

I have used "United" Boost98 thinking that I was getting a good deal but after a few tests, it gets around 0.5ltr/100km worse that Vortex98 on the same road trips (500km)

eg.

Vortex98 = 7.4

Boost98 = 7.9

I get about the same out of the "United, e10 95 octane compared to the boost98". I might give the Shell stuff ago as well

After reading the Shell web site onn the V-Power racing, not all cars benifit from the additional octane rating, but as previous posts, they were good figures.

Just how much can one expect to pay for V-Power Racing. I found that todays price at Shell Rouse Hill was $1.269/L for "V-Power" can i expect to pay another $0.20/L extra for V-Power Racing

Talk this way - My car is a leased car (salary sacrified). Shell card allows me to buy petrol, oil from any Shell services station (not other companies) in the country. They check the card and the car any time I fill up (it is illigal to use card for other car).

Guys, bear in mind the premium you pay for Optimax xtreme over the standard unleaded fuels at times the difference may nullify the KM savings themselves...

Though the Optimax class of fuels tend to be better for your engine.

Also before the comign Zr6 im getting I had a Skyline R34 Turbo. and noticed that though my car was tuned for Optimax type of petrols, Synergy 8000 was the crappest, my engine was pinging (predetonate) constantly...

mobile i think is the only other fuel that doesnt. but i have none near my house so thats out.

the problem with shell is inconsistancies. they can be great one week and ****house the next.

allthough i think my car is on the limit of fuel quality.

with the blitz access ecu, which was tuned for japanese fuels, and my afc neo tuned on bp, and a smidgeon under 1bar of boost. that probably explains my results.

no idea on fuel ecconomy. i dont really care, its all seat of the pants meter for me :D

Hmm maybe the true octane count from BP to Mobile are similar,

I find Vortex to Optimax running the smoothest for me. I tuned it on a Apexi FC running on a Z32 so I had heaps of mapping points to play with but still...

OK, I have tryed BP Ultimate, and Shell V-Power. I am now using Shell V-Power Racing and can definately feel the difference, much smoother and has a better pick up on excelleration, but let me tell you, you are paying for it. When I went to fill up three days ago, Shell V-Power Racing was at $1.54.

I found BP Ultimate to be better than Shell V-Power, but without a doubt V-Power Racing to be the best(mainly city driving). Yet to try Vortex and Mobil.
