17 x 7.5 Buddy club with 215/45/17

HI Guys,

Recently I have just put in my new buddy club rims with the following spec:

17 x 7.5 offset +42

215/45/17 dunlop sport maxx tyres

My tires are constantly hitting the guard if :

- turn hard on corners

- or hitting uneven roads

I have also noticed that the tyre is slightly outside the guards too.

So does anyone have a set of buddy club rims running?

I notice the buddy club sf rims are 17 x7 only. so it might not have problems! Damnit

At the moment, the gap between the tire and the guard is also only one finger gap too.

Please suggest!

- Get 205/45/17 tyre?

- jack up the coil overs (which increase the gap) but the tyre is still outside the guards

- roll the guards out and machine the rims to adjust the offset

(which I find there not much room to roll out)

Your problem lies in your tyre choice.

215/45/17 is way too big and will scrub when cornering if your car is lowered. The best size to ensure no scrubbage is 215/40/17, I use to run this profile on my 17s lowered on coilovers and had no problems whatsoever.

Also 7.5 inch is also your problem, 7inch is the perfect size for a Rolla. Ive gone from a 7.5 inch on 18's with scrubbing to a 7inch 18 (with the same tyres) and absolutly no scrubbing.

Well, I guess i should ask the tyre place to change the tyres lo.

What if I get 205/45/17?

Would it help? Cos i cant afford to change my buddy club wheels.

i disagree with the other replies, i believe that the best size for 17's on a rolla is 205 45. Choice of tyres, go with the federal 595ss.

But cos your rims are 7.5 wide, it might be better to go the 215 40. But the 205 will still fit if thats what u choose.

But I have checked with the engineers at work, they said its better to stick with 45 profiles for 17" in order minimise the odometer and speed difference.

205/45 would be stretched a little on the 7.5" rim width you have, 215/40 would be better.

But rather than paying money and buying another set of tyres, just raise your car a little seeing you're on coilovers, play around with some different heights.

Yeah i have done some negative camber, but the tires are still hitting.

There is no room to roll teh guard.

I taking it back to the tire shop and adjust the camber again.

Otherwise I will change the tires to 40 profile.
