It's been raining heavily here in Melbourne today and I park my car outside.

I notice that there are some minute drops of water coming from the speaker seals in BOTH the passenger and drivers side doors. I look at it closely and I'm sure the water is coming from below the speaker seals. The water just drops into the side pockets.

I reviewed both doors and cannot find any obvious leaks. If there was such a leak, i would assume the side doors would show more signs of moisuture. I checked both the power windows and the audio system and both are working. I reckon if the doors have been flooded, they would not work.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it normal to get some water into the doors. Apart from the bit of water leaking, the interior is totally dry. I also checked the rear doors and no leaks.

Ouch, thats sounds pretty bad :(, My car was parked in the rain last night outside a friends house and didnt notice anything like that, you should get back to Toyota asap... But in the meantime im going for a closer inspection...

You could risk and test it out yourself, get some water and sprinkle it down from the top of the door and judge where it is coming from by listening for the drips?

I noticed that some water got in (i presume through the window gap), but not as bad as your case. A day after the rain stopped i can still see some water droplets on the door sill.

Maybe condensation building up in the speaker cone due to high humidity?

The doors should have relief holes in the bottom to drain water collecting in them, so you would most probably notice overt leaks such that rain was getting past the rubber seals.

I hope you are right. It was a pretty cold and humid day as well.

The chances to have leaks in both doors would be pretty low you think. I tested out the power windows by pushing them right down and up again. The inner side of the windows were completely dry. So there wouldn't have that much water inside the doors if there are major leaks.

I'm going to contact my speaker installer just to make sure. Perhaps even get them to check that the speakers were not completely drenched (which I doubt because they still work and sounded ok).

Oh you got aftermarket speakers... then don't take it to Toyota.

I took it to my audio installer and showed him a pic of when it was dripping. He was surprised to see it. Anyway, he opened the door trim and checked the surrounding. Everything was completely dry. The speaker looked ok and the surrounding area did not have any moisture. Mind you it's been three days since the big rain. Also reviewed the area and it looked completely sealed. He mentioned that if there have been water inside, the material in the speaker would increase in size. There was none of that. We just put it down to condensation. The speakers still work and they sound the same.

It rained heavily again in Melbourne on Saturday. Pretty much right on quue, after nearly an hour driving, I see some water dripping from below the speaker grill in both the driver's and front passenger's doors. See attachment.

Anyone else notice this? Everything else is dry. As mentioned before, if there is a big leak in the door, I would expect to see more moisture getting into the cabin.

Depends on the change in humidity in the car (door) relative to that outside etc.

My only suggestion involves you standing on a sunny day holding a hose-pipe while 'watering your lawn' off your car door. Then see if there is any moisture. Perhaps take it to a car-wash place and use a pressure hose?

Need to work it out...

Done something like that. Poured a bucket of water on the drivers side mirror. Waited for some time.

Found no drips/leaks. Checked again this morning and still nothing. Will get the car washed in couple of weeks. Will keep an eye out for it.
