Thanks, I'll definitely be interested.

D&T Performance Exhaust in Adelaide made my system for my commodore about 8 years ago. I was very happy with their work. Reasonably priced too, I paid around $1200 for extractors and a full 3" stainless system custom made.

Well i went there today.. they rekon 10-15 kw at the wheels with a exhaust system

For a dual 2inch cat back system $1600. give them 48 hours notice they will custom make it and install it in a day.

Ask them to do a before and after dyno run for you to prove it. post up the charts.

lets see whats real here.

Easy to claim hard to prove.

Lots of people doctoring up the dyno charts too its so easy when you know how.

I have done this and it's interesting. The guy laminated up the before and after dyno charts and all looked really rosy until i asked to see the correction factors and questioned the values and low and behold i get to pay the bill and f off without the dyno charts. oh they would ahve looked good posted up here but i know they are all bs. Don't believe all you are told. 10-15kw at the wheels is big. Sort of thing you would get with an old falcadore with extractors and exhaust mods for sure but then their std stuff was rubbish anyway.

Yeah im a bit skeptical on those figures as well, its big but achievable only if the existing system is really restrictive, im sure Toyota didnt make that bad of an exhaust system...

The new IS350 runs the 2GR also, but acheives 230kw and like 40-50 more torque, wonder what tweaks it has over the Aurion...

Have you decided yet if you are going to go ahead with it?

I rang D&T myself and then spoke to my wife. She's more excited about it then me. I booked us in for th 26 of November.

Soloman,

If you don't get it done before me, I'll have to try and catch up with you that afternoon to see what you think. D&T in Adelaide has done a few Aurions already. They use a full twin system, running 2" to 2 1/4 out the rear. I was told it gives a very nice Rev orientated note, no drone what so ever. They are also going to do it fully polished for free to photograph and use as a display on thier website.

Nice... I was going to get a dyno done before and after the exhaust and intake to see what the difference is like :)

I would be there in a flash to see how quicker the aurion is and how much better it sounds.. Mabey a quick drag race to see if there is any noticable difference down stuart highway ;)

ill pm you my details soon

I was hoping they had a dyno there, if not, do you know any in Darwin. I wont get a chance to dyno it before but I should be able to get it done afterwards. If you can get yours dyno'd before, I'll take mine to the same place to have a comparison. Or as you stated, we can test them the old fashioned way, down the Stuart Hwy. Hopefully there's not to much rain around.

With regards with the exhaust system as i work in the industrie i have changed my sx6 with 2 new megaflow mufflers on the back end has a nice deep note but not droning at all. You will not find a big difference with the performance with changing the cats or the size of the pipe work. it should cost about $500.00 including tips and the mufflers are s/s 409 with a 5 year warranty. You can get it done at Kirrawee Exhaust or Carline Mt Druitt and Windsor Exhaust. I gain about 5-7 Kw by changing the exhaust. I had my car Dynoed and its has 149.9 Kw at the wheels the person that did it said thats pritty dame good for a stock aurion. The only other thing i have changed is the air filter i bought a TRD one from Castle hill toyota it was cheaper the a K&n filter from the USA.

So your saying stock is 149.9 as in without the exhaust? what are the before and after figures on the run and was this running a press or mandrel bent exhaust, for that price i doubt s/s all the way, I doubt the airfilter would have done anything as its been said that the Aurions intake is pretty free flowing already...

For 1k-2k for marginal gains i dont think its worth it unless you are going to go deeper into mods.. especially if all your after is a more aggressive engine note... I would just opt for mufflers...

You might also end up sacrificing bottom end for the top end peak power KW (Basically just redistributing the curve)..., just looking at it by itself performance wise its all rice like the many civics, lancers i see on the street. Don't get caught into the KW trap. Im pretty sure Toyota looked into the exhaust and believe that this is a balanced setup..

As said, I would like to see a before and after Dyno chart on an exhaust to paint a more real picture

Oh yeah back to posts earlier, a 200sx is genuinly known to have a restrictive system, the SR20 is a potent engine as well as the rexxy's EJ so their 20kw can be credible to an extent but don't take it as every other car can achieve a similar mark or even come close to it.

Thanks for your input, it's good hearing from someone who has actually had something done. How much did they charge you for the TRD filter & is it a paper element or a washable?

Well i had a look under my car.. got a few pics and some figures..(will upload pics later today or tomrrow)

The main pipe going from the engine to the rear seems to be a 2.5 inch pipe. It then splits into two, 1 inch or 1.2 inch pipe through to the tip.

There is plenty of room down the car for 2 pipes to go down.

Im really thinking about charging up the credit card and getting a 2.5 all the way through..

they charged me $85 AUD and its washable

Sorry for the crap quality this was taken on my phone..

In this pic you can see the 1 or 1.2 inch pipe comming from the 2.5 inch main pipe down the centre.

Here's the the restrictive part where the two pipes off the exhaust manifold join to the 2.5 inch pipe. See how they have been squashed down to fit.

This is one of the reasons I believe the car would benefit from a full twin system.

JonBay is absolutely right.. 10-15 kw is a big bloody difference many of these tools claim they can achieve... Question is: Who is game enough to go and try it?

Don't believe it dudes UNLESS you actually see the correction factors that prove otherwise... In my oppinion.. just wait abit longer until there are more Aurion's on the road... Personally I'm waiting to see it and hear it for myself before going ahead with it....

Problem is: I don't even have my ZR6 yet, I will in 2 weeks and first day I will be putting 19"s (maybe shadow, or shadow chrome, any suggestions?)

I also will be doing some small mods...tints...lowering...sound...headlights, taillights... DOES ANY one know where I can find tail-headlights for ZR6?

I'm assuming they will not be easy to find for a while....

ive put chrome 18's on mine and lowered it 1 3/4 on pedders springs was goin to 19's but they where goin to take 2 weeks from the east so i gave up on that cause i had to do a 1700km drive to get home

I'm hesitant to change the full exhaust system, like many others i don't think the power gain, (if any) will be worth the full cost.

If any of you have actually heard the aurion with cannon's it's actually not all that much louder, in fact you can barely hear it inside the car!

I've just bought and installed two xforce Varex cannons

sorry, i was so excited after the install i forgot to take a fully done picture! hehhe...

but i'm going back in tomorrow to get the resonator replaced with a straight pipe, i'll take some photos then!

i ain't touching the cats... i have no idea what it'll do to the sensors, and i don't want to be the guinea pig!

but to be damn honest, replacing with an oval muffler will do **** all to the sound!

cannon's will deepen the tone, make it feel/sound like the car it IS without the droning! sounds beautiful

but can't hear it much...

i'm hopeing that the removing the res. will just increase the volume of that tone!

even if it's too loud... it's not a problem... the xforce varex has a remote control butterfly valve, that closes off the cannon and redirects air into a three way muffler!!! hehe... so i can go from outrageous to low profile at the push of a button...

whole thing cost about $900...
