I bought a S12 and it arrived today... you're scaring me with this talk of "louder than cannons"...

I'll install it with catback mods in the next few days and see how it goes...

Well I was quoted roughly $200 for 2.25" mild steel, press bent, cat back and $400 for stainless, mandrel bends.

The guy said press bent would be big enough because my exhaust manifold is stock and prolly restrictive.

What do you guys think?

Well, i got it done anyway. It's pretty loud lol. nice low bassy tone in the low revs and a throaty roar when accelerating beyond 3000. It's nearly as quiet as stock when cruising at between 2-3000.

Your S12's got a diff tip on it to Stinky's. His one's tip doesn't "curve" inwards at the tip.

I Think Typically You Lose Torque If You Don't Size The Intake Properly

I have noticed a small loss in torque at the low end of the revs, which was expected from the reduction in backpressure.

This however has improved slightly since installation (i would attribute that to the ECU learning).

With a retune or piggy-back, I'd expect this problem to completely disappear.

funny you mention that.

I wanted to post up a video of the sound inside the cabin, so I got my girlfriend to film while I drove down Alexander Pde towards the Eastern Freeway. However, when we played the video back, you couldn't even hear the exhaust...

But it is definitely audible from inside the cabin, especially under heavy acceleration. I'll try again tomorrow morning, maybe get her to sit in the back seat.
