Hey, Im looking for a Toyota camry for my first car, I was wondering if there is anything that I should look out for when Im buying. Ive found two 1997 models, they are roughly $4K, one has a slight dent on the back. Is there anything that I should keep an eye out for?

Oil leaks are very common, rust spots. Oxidation on the paints. Clicky cv's are just to name a few common problems.

As Anthony said... mainly seals. Sometimes the dizzy can leak oil too and not actually be the O ring (happening with my car, nothing serious though).

Other than that, the shocks (if stock) are more than likely gone... can still use fine, but they'll just squeak a lot and feel like you're driving a boat :P You'll find a couple of interior issues as well... ceiling lining will start to peel.. same with the door trims. These are nothing to worry about ultimately.

As long as the car's been serviced and had whatever's needed to be done when it should be, it should be more than fine. Remember, it's a CAMRY after all! These things are one of the best made cars to date :)

older camry's are reknown for dodgy wheel hubs. listen to any squeaking sounds when turning hard. clicking or knocking is the cv joints, sqeuaking/squealing is the wheelhub.
