Thinking of trading my focus for a corolla. Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just thought I'd post in case anyone had any suggestions/advice.

I own a 2003 Focus and am thinking about trading in and getting a Corolla.

I only want the base stock model but with tinted windows, automatic transmission and the cruise pack.

Are Corollas really as reliable and cheap to service as they are said to be?

After they've racked up they kms (200 000+) are they worn out or still going strong?

Thanks in advance.

You will not regret swapping from a Focus to a corolla.

Toyota has fixed price servicing for the new corollas.

i think it is $120 but others with the new rolla will be able to tell you.

They are reliable and so much better looking than the focus :yahoo: :yahoo:

When i compared the focus to the corolla in 05 i found the corolla from interior etc so much better.

price wise the rolla was cheaper and i have had no regrets choosing the rolla over the focus and that was in 2005.

but in the end the choice is yours and you must be happy in what you choose.

Reliability wise, you can't say no to a Toyota. If you service it appropriately and take care of it, you can easily expect them to last well past 200,000kms. They wouldn't have a reputation for being reliable if they broke down all the time.

As for being cheap to service, most parts for it that are required to be changed during a service don't cost much at all. Spare parts for Toyota's, even though can be considered pricey when going genuine, are not that bad compared to other car makes. The major cost involved are mainly in labour costs cepending on where you service it.

You definitely won't be disappointed if you made the move.

just because its a toyota doesnt necessarily means its reliable.

like any car, if theyve been well maintained then they will last for years. i've seen some toyotas in pretty bad shape, even onces only a couple of years old.

but yes, servicing is relatively cheap. and because theyre locally produced and japanese made, parts are easy to source and relatively inexpensive as opposed to the focus, seeing as its european designed

Reliability was the first reason why my mum sold her 307 + vault chrome wheels for 10k to get a corolla

The servicing for the Peugeot was just ridiculous as you had to go to the Peugeot mechanic to get it serviced otherwise other mechanics would take forever to deal with it as they didn't know how to.

the servicing would usually be near 1k as there would usually be a problem with it but for the corolla you all know it's much cheaper.

Really loved the 307 though =p It was a really nice car.

Can't really say much about a corolla that's gone over 200k but i know my sister's Rav4 went over 200k and i found it drove well.

Sorry for going a bit off topic, was just reminiscing my mum's old 307. ahaha

I sold my 02 Astra SRi and got the new corolla from City Toyota 2 month ago

20500 drive away manual with free tint metalic paint and floor mat

It is a very reliable car

I was a motor mechanic and hardly seen any rollas with problems even oil leak

But compare to some european small car like focus golf or astra

Rolla drives not as good as them

I am a big big VW fan

As i drove VW cars in China and all my families drive VW cars

But european cars r so expensive to repair here in OZ

Unless u only keep it for 3 years( under warranty)

Otherwise get the corolla :yahoo:
