hey guys,

just tinkering with my car, and pulled out the alternator to try and replace the pulley, to no avail. i just couldn't get the damn pulley off the alternator :(

so i put all back together, but i will mention that putting the belt back on the pulley was quite hard. started the car after connecting everything and it starts fine and runs as it should.

i will have to take it to a specialist to replace the pulley, then that's one mission down and gone :P

I've never had an issue. You did put a spanner on the welded nut to ease tension while working the belt didn't you?

you will just need a puller... afaik i have one here.

I've never had an issue. You did put a spanner on the welded nut to ease tension while working the belt didn't you?

yeah i did that, but just trying to lever it down was a mission... but i got it :P

you will just need a puller... afaik i have one here.

I think Supatouring has one... he has said that he has one.

Evan be patient I can take care of that when we do the install. I have the tools we need to swap it.

The weekend of the 19th Sept is going to be free for me.

Ok... i can wait, just really keen for it that's all :P

for the Install, would it be ok for us to do it at your place?

Also, i need to know who i have to see to get the gaskets made up? Cha54??

The gaskets that need to be made are they for the parts of the supercharger that bolt together? If they just need to be a paper gasket you can buy the gasket material from places like Repco. Or can automotive RTV type silicon sealant be used?

-Intake Manifold where it bolts onto the engine

-In between the Intake manifold and charger, where the charger bolts onto

-Throttle body gasket

-i would imagine you can use a stock intake manifold gasket

-a quick bit of googleing leads me to belive its just a paper/cork gasket between the sc/manifold.. you could easily make one

-you should be able to use gasket goo for the tb gasket, or if its the 1zz tb, maybe buy a stock tb gasket

what are you doing for injectors? what does the 1zz have from stock?

From all the different sources i have found the injectors average out to around the following

1zz's flow about 260cc/min

2zz's flow about 310-320cc/min

I just received my new injectors today :D They're rated at 370cc, but flow tested at 360cc at 2.55Bar, 400cc at 3.05Bar and 440cc at 3.55Bar

And according to toyota the 1ZZ runs between 43-50 psi fuel pressure which equals 3-3.4 bar So I figure they will flow about 410-420 on a std fuel system, but since i am going to be running a return stlye system we sill be able to set the fuel pressure to what ever we want with the FPR

you can't use larger injectors with the blitz piggyback unless you change to a different type of piggyback ECU or a full aftermarket ECU. I know Pippy has a set of 450cc MWR injectors spare if you need something bigger.

As for gaskets...

Head to intake manifold - Buy a genuine intake manifold gasket from the US, it's a proper nitrile coated steel gasket. Pippy has the part number, it's what we used for his TRD charger and now also for my custom plenum on his turbo setup. The stock 1zz plastic intake manifold uses a recessed rubber o-ring style gasket that can't be used on an intake manifold that has a flat alloy face with no recess.

Intake manifold to charger - will need to be custom made. Paper gasket coated in hylomar spray might hold.

Throttle Body to intake manifold - Stock throttle body gasket is another rubber o-ring style similar to the intake manifold to head interface. The TRD charger comes with a milled recess to accept the stock rubber gasket, on my custom plenum we used a thin smear of toyota black FIPG (the good stuff). If the throttle body flange is perfectly flat then you can get away with using FIPG.

ah yeah, the 1zz has a plastic intake manifold doesent it... what about a 2zz intake gasket, since its got a metal manifold? or is it strange again

(forgive me, i know **** all about the specifics of zz motors)

I would imagine dave would be able to help you with this... although it is not too difficult...

you will need some gasket paper and gasket dressing/sealant, you basically cut out a piece of the gasket paper to the correct size, etc and then coat it in the gasket sealant and put it on.

as for the TB to intake, use a high quality FIPG (silicone gasket maker) if both surfaces are flat and machined/polished... this is what i used on my TB. when i tried to get it off yesterday, i had to pry it apart with a screw driver it had stuck that well.

but just keen to know, its not possible to run the charger WITHOUT all the ECU wiring hooked up right?

So i can't drive it to go and get wired up..?

repco should not have any problem getting you the stuff..

perhaps autobarn and supercheap have it too...

that reminds me, i need more FIPG lol

i would guess so? although it probably wouldn't be too safe.

assuming the zz motors like to advance the timing on boost, then it would probably cause some pretty serious detonation...

being a piggyback it cant be that hard to wire in anyway

i would guess so? although it probably wouldn't be too safe.

assuming the zz's ecu like to advance the timing on boost (as some toyota ones seem to) , then it could probably cause some pretty serious detonation... although i would assume it also has knock protection, which should counter this.

but i still would not wanna drive it too far.

and once again, im not an expert on zz ecu's....

that said;

piggybacks are usually pretty f*cking easy to wire in...

should only have a few wires... +12V, GND, MAF In, MAF Out, Tach ... and maybe some channels for the ignition.

The only issue is that the manual is in Japanese. Other then that should be simple enough.

cant be that hard, after all its 'bolt on'

Mechanical is not a problem. Just the descriptions for the electrical wiring. Once we have that sussed out it will be ok.

as long as you have a 1zz ecu pinout, a multimeter, various other tools and the jap wiring guide from the sc you should be OK

also, there are english manuals for the yaris/scion S/C kits... the wiring diag looks identical on the f/c side. might be of some use to you.
