ZZE12x Stereo removal

Anyone got any tips on how to removed the double din stereo from a ZZE12x corolla? I just purchased one from a newer corolla and need to removed the old one first.

I had a look in the corolla repair manual i downloaded and it says there are 8 clips i need to removed on the stereo surround. Do you just jam a screw driver in there and pry the cover? or is there trick to it. The manual offered the tip of put some tape around the screwdriver.

ju pull the surround out with your fingers... screw drivers will scratch and mark your dash.. so a big no no..

it will just pull out.

once its out... yuo'll see the screws you need to undo... pretty easy.

thanks, pulling it out with your hands worked fine. if you tilt the air vents down you can pull the whole thing out easy. some of the screws were a bit hard to get to but i got there in the end.

now i have a 2008 corolla 6 stacker with mp3 and bluetooth in my stivo :D nice!

my cd player only works randomly though :( no biggie only cost $250......apparently its common with the unit..the mp3 input rules out this being a hassle anyway

bluetooth is by far the best aspect of the unit....i love it so good for work etc
