hey everyone,

Started from yesterday, i heard some "squeak" noize "ZI ZI ZI" around the steering wheel, sounds like from inside of the dash board. And the noize only started when i drive, but can not hear any when i stop (the engine is on). And i am pretty sure that noize is not from my stuff in the car. Did anyone have same problem before? and Is that any problems for the electric? thanks

So you can hear the noise only when you turn the steering wheel? You might wanna check out you power steering oil level, i dont know what model you have but it should be near the coolant reservoir.

my model is 2003 camry sportivo. i remembered i have changed the steering wheel oil when i did the service with toyota dealer last november, and the guy told me it would be lasted for two years. So can it really last for 2 years?

Out of interest, my steering wheel makes a zip noise when turned could that just be fluid level?

Hi first thing I'd look at is loose belt, noise should get louder when on full lock.

i think ben has it spot on... i think u will need a new rack...

we've had quite a few camrys coming in with the same complaint and the only rectification was to replace the rack.

right, i will take my car to do service on friday, and let them to check it out. BTW, do u know how much the rack will be cost? thanks

Just before you pay the price for a new rack, make sure the rubber rings on the rack are alrite. I had a squealing noise whilst on full lock and i thort it was the rack or CV joints but ended up just being a rubber ring on the bottom of the rack which had moved out of place. Not sure what it is called tho.

Hmmm i get a slight kkssssssscccchhhh sound when i start turning my wheel on bends.... my mother said she gets this in her VT commo but yeah also how hard is it to replace the pwoer asist belt for the power steering... when mine gets wet, LOCK UP!

Commodores always have power steering noise, normal for them...

Check your belt tension, sounds like it may be loose... But if the belt is worn or cracked then replace it...
