Alpine Type S 6"

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I bought a set of Alpine Type S 6" speakers

And I was wondering how to take the stock speakers out and put these new ones in?

Can someone please give me a hand.

Also, Should I Place the amp behind the glovebox?

If u need to ask a question like that then i would advise againt trying the install on your own, considering the car is probably still under warranty. Also amps behind the glovebox is not really a good place due to heat build up, and the amp over heating.

the stock speakers are actually pop riveted into the door so you might want to drill out the rivets with easy-outs then you can replace them, i havent really bothered changing my speakers yet as i am quite happy with them but will go for a change sometime soon, plus the amp behind the glove box?....i dont think you will even fit the amp behind there mine just sits in the boot attached to my sub box

if the amp ur talking about is the headunit power pack then yeah u will be able to get it behind glovebox, u also could put it behind the facia panel. but like said before if u need to ask the question then maybe u really shouldnt do it especially since u need to make pods for them to fit. and u will most probably get the speakers out of phase and u will whinge that the type "s" speakers sound like **** wen really they r an awesome speaker depending on the user.

I think I just answered my own question.

There is no nitty gritty mucking around with the door panel.

all I have to do is pull it off.

Here are the steps included though.

1. Unscrew door handle screw (this holds the door panel to the door)

2. Place fingers under slots in the door and pull towards you.

After you have done this, You can continue the process around the whole door panel.

3. You are done. I placed the door panel back on as I was using the car pretty quickly after I had taken the photos

and cant be bothered to do it again until I have some time on my hands.

Also, With the amp situation.

I found a sneaky little spot. It is on the under side of just above where the feet of the passenger go.

This is handy as the aircon for the feet would help to coooool it down

Yeah besides if u put ur amp there people are gonna keep kicking it, and im no expert but i think amps dont like that lol

I got my amps under my passenger seat and in the boot, under the seat has to be the most productive spot

if he is thinking about putting it where the pic indicates then it will definately hav to be the h/u power pack. its only about 6 inches long 2 inches wide and 2 inches deep. its a KTP-445, its a plug n play unit that amplifies the power to 45wrms x 4. retails normally for $199. pretty good little unit.
