Starter motor

Recommended Posts

why do you need a new one?

Cause mine is dying...

Its at the mechanics from this afternoon and they had a quick look and it is definately the starter motor, they are looking further into it in the morning and i am just finding out some details for then.

Basically the symptom is the key is turned the starter motor sounds like its just free spinning and not turning the engine over...and if i stop and turn the key a few times, eventually it will turn over the engine.

its probably the one way sprag in the starter, yea easy fix for sparky, cost is about $40 for the sprag but they will usually mark it up to at least 80...... its a common problem in any starter, it will kick out still but just spins the inner shaft inside the sprag instead of spinning the gear. good as new when they replace it as the gear and sprag r all one unit,
