Hi

Just picked up my 2006 at-x and the console is loose as. Are there any easy fixes?

Also just got back from my first night drive and noticed that the icons for the shifter dont light up ( i.e P,R,D etc) but there is a dim green light around the shifter itself. Is this normal?

Cheers

I had this issue as well, have a read of this: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25540&st=25

Check the light and connections.

there is a customer satisfaction exercise (cse) for aurion console boxes. if you remove all the contents of your console and look down at the rear of the base there are 2 bolts that bolt it to the floor. all of the hard plastic around it may be broken. The repair is to replace that lower part of the console as it comes in a kit from toyota. It is regarded as an environmental stress crack of the plastic. The steel bracket on the floor that it bolts to has to be cleaned and a couple of plastic stick on pads are placed on the steel and plastic box to insulate the box from the steel bracket.

if yours is out of warranty , ask your local dealer to approach on your behalf for some outside of warranty assistance. even if they pay for parts it is 1 hour allowable for that job.

as far as the t-bar lights either a globe is blown of the globe is not located in the lamp. this can be checked at the time of the console repair too.

cheers Tim

Old thread but I thought it would be better to use it rather than create a new one.

I have found this forum to be very helpful in car searches and also in working out how to fix things :)

Just bought a 2007 Presara with 52k on the clock less than a month ago and found exactly the same issue. The car is 3.5 years old so it is out of warranty.

Took it to Ryde Toyota in Sydney and they were adamant that it was a fault of the previous owners and not a manufacturing fault (which I found hard to believe). They also said that the whole console would have to be replaced and that would cost over $500 just for parts alone, which was a bit ludicrous considering that only a bit of plastic under the bolts were cracked.

I am considering taking it to another dealer to get a second opinion but I have a feeling I may get the same story.

Being a third owner (the second owner only had it for 5 months before he had to go overseas) and out of warranty doesn't help my case.

However the rest of the car is in pretty good nick, the leather and interior even still have a new smell to it so I find it hard to believe that it's had a hard life.

Any thoughts on whether it's possible to fix this yourself or even whether the cost I got quoted is justifiable?

Cheers

I've seen in ebay they sell centre console parts. Alternatively, I'd suggest wreckers.
