Hi All,

Thank you for all the replies for my previous posting. Yes, I'll go for profile 45 tyres as you all recommended.

I've got 2 quotes as below and seeking your advice one more time.

Kumho KU31 235/45R18 ($220)

Falken FK452 225/45R18 ($225)

Considering that I'm just a 'normal' driver, which one would you recommend? (I though sometimes enjoy acceleration and cornering)

Thank you all!

Hyo Kim

$220 seems ludacris for KU31's but they are definately good tyres.

I’m not sure about the Kumho's but i have Fk452's in 245/35 ZR19 size on my car and cant praise them enough, for the first 500kms they do seem pretty noisy but that does soon go away and are now no nosier than any other tyre of that size, They offer mammoth amount of grip and traction and wear quite well, feel very stable in a corner and can be pushed pretty hard and perform well in the wet i wouldn’t hesitate to buy them.

A few weekends ago we did quite a big road trip around Tas and they amazed me how they held on through the corners epically though the hairpins, really expected it to wash wide or the tyres to just let go but it just tucked in and kept turning great match to the Aurion’s chassis i think!

$220 for me is quite expensive for the Kumhos

Not sure what state you are in but I got mine 235/40/18 KU31 for 160 each fitted and balanced. (NSW Tempetyres)

That's the cheapest I found, other stores are about 180 or so.

This is my second set of these tyres and I have no complaints about them. (can't comment on the Falkens)

They have lasted quite awhile considering the type of driving I do (forgot the Kz sorry)

But I can say they do a great job in the wet! (and dry)

Not much road noise, and are quite grippy when pushed (heavy V6 Camry).

For the price I get for my tyres I can't really complain about it. And the tyre itself looks hot!

Hopefully I don't make you choose the tyre you don't want, but that is how I feel about them.

The quote for Kumho KU31 is from Tempe Tyres in NSW, the same shop!

Since I'm in Melbourne (metro area) they said that it will be $200 including shipping. And I added $20 for balancing and fitting.

Emm.. So far 2 for Kumho and 3 for Falken..

I have 235/45/18 Kumhno KU36 which cost me $210 per tyre fitted.

I'm going to play devils advocate here and say...nay to either...

I don't like Falkens - all my experience my Falken's have been crap!

Kumho -there are kumhos and there are kumhos and the KU31 just don't fit in the 2nd category of Kumhos.. :-p
