May aswell make a topic for my car, got some better pictures too.

I bought it about a week ago, really like it too. Got decent kms, tires, rego and the rest. Insurance wasnt too bad either. So far all ive been doing is cleaning all the areas the original owner didnt go near.

This is what i meant anyway.. So difficult to reach, does anyone know an easy way to clean it off? I have been trying but my fingers dont reach all of it

that's like what? the door hinges? i haven't even looked at mine LOL

you won't have much luck with hands, maybe use WD-40, or degreaser.... but then i'm not sure if door hinges have lubricant on them... i'd just leave it as it is................

btw nice car!! =]

Yeah i know there needs to be grease around the hinges but cause my car is white it kinda shows up abit.. ergh. I'll do my best.. but its everywhere.. along the bottom of the doors and everything.

thanks guys, really happy with my car. went for a drive tonight :D

I wanted to know if anyone could clear something up for me.. with my GPS unit/cd stacker.

My corolla was fitted with a genuine toyota gps unit as it was originally a demo at the dealership. I was aware that the standard factory head unit had a cd stacker with it, which im guessing is located under the front passenger seat? I checked the GPS manual booklet and checked the device under the seat. The booklet says it does have a stacker, but the device will only accept one CD which is the GPS map one.

Im thinking that when the GPS unit was installed, the device under the seat was changed aswell? Im pretty sure it doesnt have a stacker anymore but if anyone knows what would have happened that would be great. thanks.

The head unit itself accepts the 6 cds..

Thanks young, late reply from me haha.

Today i had my new water pump installed (old one was leaking) and while that was being done, i had my spare drive belt put in. Not really any modifications to the car but half the problems out of the way.

Ive also decided to change all my shocks, not just the front two with the leaking one. After talking to a mate of mine im going to get some kyb ones... MUCH cheaper than toyota shocks and they will be stiffer too. I wont be doing this until i get back from melbourne though, so i will have time to decide if i want lower springs too.

Been a while, had a couple things done to the car. Thought i'll put it up here

So got a exedy heavy duty clutch with nylon G70 additive (works well now)

Then i got slim line weather shields

and also kyb shocks with rsr ti2000 springs.

      toyota 700

      Your starting problem could be engine timing .I had a no start problem and found that the engine had been apart and timed wrongly as there are2 marks on the internal gears so be carefull. Oil filters that will fit U10 are R2206P old ones but still available. Brake parts from local suppliers no problem and note that early UP10 had factory problems with the fuel pump not giving up enough fuel when engine under load.

      'Please check the SD card' - Does anyone have the SD card files?

      Hi team, I have ran into the same issue. Can I confirm where I should be placing these files within the SD folders? I can see a few .DAT format files however the name of the files doesn't exactly match what is currently on there. (e.g. this google drive folder contains EB, RG, SS & MM where as the folder on my SD has DAT files named ascbin, dtv_area, EMAP, MAPINFO... any ideas? Please note this is a 2010 Toyota Prius Synergy, industry model code DAA-ZVW30. Any help you can offer would be amazing! EDIT: I'm based in New Zealand if this affects filenames etc, which I assume it likely will.

      Adding cruise control to a 2008 Ascent Hatch

      Hi Tony, You will need to make your own harness, with wire and corrugated tubing, you can buy at any auto shop. If there isn't a published wiring diagram, with colours, then I suggest you work out a colour scheme, so when you have the end of your harness you know which wire is which. As to the clutch switch, I've fitted a standard micro switch, on a home made bracket. The switch is wired in the normally open connection, as it is operated when the clutch is up. Note, the attached article is for my MGB brake switch replacement, but it will give you an idea about how to go about it. As to connecting to the ECU, if you do need to do it you only need to connect to the speed wire. If you have a tacho, then you could tap into the sense wire to it, using a quick splice connector, as shown, below. They are closed with a pair of pliers.       Adding cruise control to a 2008 Ascent Hatch

      I know there is a heap of discussion out there on this topic but has anyone successfully added cruise when the wiring harness doesn't support it? I was a hoping to just buy the clock spring and cruise stalk and fit it, but mines a manual and there is no wiring to connect the clutch switch to. I've read about people running wiring to the ECU, but there weren't any clear guides for this that i could find. How do you actually tap into the ECU connector because the pictures I've seen look like it wouldn't be easy to add anything to it? I gave up after seeing there was no clutch switch cabling to wire up to so I don't even know if the necessary cabling is between the clock spring and the ECU. Has anyone done this mod on a car that isn't pre-wired for it?

      Handbrake gap in coonsole

      Just purchased a 2008 Corolla hatch. As shown in the photo, the rubber shroud attached to the handbrake sags down and leaves a big gap for things to potentially fall down in there. I can't figure out why its like that. Nothing seems to be broken - is there something missing from there?

      high fuel usage

      Hi guys i have an 2009 with a 4l petrol and has suddenly started using more fuel. was wondering if any one else had this problem at all. no fault codes, new spark plugs thinking it may be o2 sensors or blocked cat, any help diagnising would be great cheers
