Hey guys,

Today I had an adventure to the gold coast.

The weather was fine until we hit the rain on the way, Was incredibly heavy, I couldn't see the tail lights of the person in front of me. :o

I'm guessing that this rain was the explanation to the water in my tail light.

Ive taken a video so that you can all see, Ive explained it all there.

If you could please tell me how to remove the light so that I can get the water out, that would be GREATLY appreciated.

Branno.

Leave it outside in the sun, it should go after a few days...

alternatively you can remove the rear bumber to remove the tail light but i wouldnt bother..

No you dont need to remove the rear bumper to get the tail light out. You can access the 2 nuts through the inspection holes in the rear interior behind the light. then close the blue clips with long nose pliars and or a long screwdriver. You can get the light out, remove the bulbs and try to shake some water out but thats about it. There is no way to remove the lens cover without some serious patience and luck.

Also check you neoprene franger, it should prevent any water entering the tail light.

Also, I would go to toyota and get them to fix or look at it under warranty.

Your video title says 08 Corolla, which means it's under warranty...

Go to your local dealer and have the light replaced under warranty :)

Well actually, we got an 08 model for 07 price, but we had to sacrifice warranty, just ran out last month. I'll try sealing it up, I think it's getting in through the boot.

Branno, if you can get it out...it isn't really that hard, you can drop some desiccant in it, the stuff you get in shoe boxes that says "do not eat" that will hopefully absorb any moisture left in the light after you drain most of it out. I used it when i did the "paint you headlight surrounds black" mod coz everyone was complaining about having condensation left in their headlights. It works a treat...

Stay cool dude. Fidzze

Whenever I come accross water in the tail lights (plastic lenses) for any vehicle I drill a small hole (1/16th or 1/8th at the top of the lense and another at the lowest point. The water drains out and you don't have to muck about trying to remove the whole assembly.

Cheers Roy. I ended up removing the tail light and it solved the problem. No more water. maybe its because I havent driven in much rain. But only time will tell hey?
