Have you reset the ECU?

Resetting the ECU: Take the (-) terminal off the battery for 1-2hrs. Reconnect and start the car. Let the car warm up to normal operating temps, then take the car for a 30-60 mins cruise.

Past that, consult an expert

does it matter if i took - and + terminal off for like 15 mins? would it make a big difference?

was thinking of taking it back to toyota but since i modified the engine ? would that void warranty

cheers.

Hey mate,

I had a similar problem back in the days and when I checked it ended up being the rubber hose being lose. So, make sure that yours is tightened and secured properly.

I think for the ECU to reset you need to disconnect the battery for at least 30mins...there is an old thread on the forum on how to reset the ECU (try using the search).

Try giving the MAF a clean while you are at it. :-l

Tell Maslo to fart on the MAF Sensor to blow off dust and crap to give it a good clean haha!

I'm the mate he called.. It should be the MAF sensor, should sit roughly near the pod filter

the VSV hoses are blocked because theyre useless with the CAI.

If you look at your stock air box, the side that sits closest to the firewall has an air flap which opens and closes according to the demand on the engine (eg, it opens on cold starts, full throttle and highway driving to allow extra air flow)

because the CAI doesnt have this feature, the hoses are useless. it doesn't matter if you leave it connected. some members have reported a clicking sound slightly audible from inside the car which disappears if the VSV is removed. I personally haven't had this clicking
