Corolla Ascent 2006 1ZZFE Vibrates quite a lot when idling. What should I do? ECU reset?

maybe your rpm is too low? what is it sitting on when idling

The revs are sitting around 600 in drive and are higher in n.

I've done about 93000km in the car and for over a year I have witnessed a rough idle that cause the car to vibrate. The vibrations are worst when the car is in drive and they become better when the selector lever is moved into neutral. I went to my dealership with the problem and last year they changed something called an idling valve? Didn't really fix the problem and indeed I believe that they had no clue what on earth they were doing. The dealership also said something about my tachometer showing about 200rm less than the engine was actually doing. All sounds a bit fishy to me! The vibrations get worse as the rpms fall, so I think that they do have something to do with the actual speed of the engine

when was your last service? there are many reasons a car may run rough at idle maybe it is need of an oil/filter change and spark plugs, also reset the ecu.

My 2005 corolla done 110K and had the opposite problem from you.

The rpm is very high during idle at 1500 to 1800.

I went to Toyota for serivce and they fixed my problem by cleaning the throttle body due to carbon build up.

You can try resetting the ecu by disconnect & reconnect the battery but no guarantee it will works.

Before you do that make sure you have the factory radio security code on hand.

As other members said it could be due to many other reasons.

I change the oil every 5000km usually, and my oil always looks very clean, even as new when I replace it. I take really good care of my Corolla, so I am not sure why this is happening. Does anyone think that there could be a problem with the automatic transmission? Also what are other people getting in terms of performance from 0-100kmh out of curiosity?

I had the same problem on my 05 Corolla all i did was adjust the idle by slightly unscrewing this alen key bolt near the throttle which controls "how open" the throttle is at idle therefore reducing or increasing the idle speed. I put it up to 900 rpm now i dont get those shudders anymore

or you can do that, i had a rough idle on my cressida and adjusted it to idle between 800-1000rpm

Was at the mechanics the other day and this guy with a Lexus rolled up and had the exact same problems, except his car would stall cause the RPM's went so low. The mechanic got some sort of key and turned something around near the gear selector lever and it was perfect afterwards.

Same thing happens with my 318i, but that was a power issue.

OP, did you manage to resolve your issue? My suspect is engine mount cos I had slight vibration like yours during idle.
