I want to get some seat covers for my corolla, with velour seats.

I read somewhere that the typical seat cover with the foam backing can rub on and slowly wear away seats. Has anyone actually experienced this?

Plus I'm undecided between actual seat covers, and the throwover seat cover type, I'm interested on hearing your opinions on this matter.

Never had an issue with seat covers, their job is to protect the seats. :)

i have had the foam backing disintegrate INTO the seat itself. Its a real bitch to clean out (but thats after 10yrs of use).

Personally im over the use of any form of seat cover. I find you're better off steam cleaning the seats whenever they become dirty.

Did the foam actually damage the seat, or just stuck to it, and was able to be cleaned off with no lasting damage to the seat?

I've had my seatcovers in for the last 3years. It has no foam backing, just material cover. Still going strong for 25bux from supercheap auto

for mine, it didnt actually damage the seat, more so disintegrated into tiny particles and went into the fabric covering, making it look like it had black sand on it. I did manage to remove it, but it took a fair bit of vacuuming.

You'll be better off steam cleaning ur steats once in a while imo:
