Hello Ladies and Gentlemans..

I worked for International Freight Forwarding Companies for 10 years.. I have an Advanced Certificate in Customs, a pre-cursor to becoming a Customs Broker, I was also Australian Quarantine Accredited. I've been out of the business for a few years now, but after 10 years in the field I still know my stuff.

If you are importing car parts or anything else for that matter, I'd be more than happy to give some free advice on what documents you need and what taxes are payable if the value of goods plus freight is more than $1000 Aud. I can also help with any Quarantine issues you might face when importing car parts or other stuff.. ie. if importing tyres, new or used, a Mosquito Larvae Declaration is required from the supplier to help them breeze through Customs and Quarantine as quickly as possible. Otherwise they will be held by Australian Quarantine pending inspection to verify no wrigglers are sitting in the tyres. This will cost you an inspection fee and lost time.

Cheers

Dan

i think you need to pm kenshin x, they're holding his tyres at nsw still, and some quarantine issues,

i've emailed the tire rack about how they declared the tyres to customs and also if they included the mosquito larvae declaration for customs to easily pass the tyres. its really bugging me and annoys the crap outta me that i have to pay extra for "clearance fees". i will know for the next set of daily tires i will buy in the near future.

To be fair, I had my Enkeis shipped from TireRack using FedEx and it cleared fine. I've had cycling wheels/frames shipped from the UK via DHL and I haven't had an issue.

I don't know of any courier that shares the major sorting facilities so you're not going to have much luck. USPS can ship wheels but to ship all as one package will be extremely expensive (Global Express Guaranteed due to the size) and sending 4 wheels as individual shipments via USPS First Class/USPS Priority Mail International/USPS EMI is very time consuming for the seller and is significantly more expensive than using an international courier.

Did you find out why they opened your package?
