ok i have a 4y powered hilux 4x4 ( conversion in future plans as i an underwhelmed by the power of this mighty motor :P )

however im having pinging issues and i have found the issue but an unsure how to fix it .

the vaccum lines on the carby are looped together and the 2 vac ports on dizzy (1 for advance) are also looped.

really dont want to pop this engine yet so any help much appreciated . havent had any luck getting a workshop manual yet in CQ area.

Have you tried running it on 98 octane fuel?

Maybe worth trying, I also had this problem, the premium fuel fixed it

already run the car on 98 pulp BUT due to the dodgy vacumm hose set up i would like to compare mine to another. Have a manual on order and should have it in a week or so .

and regardless of the fuel it seems weird i cant get the base timing to NOT ping .
