Hi, have a 2012 Toyota duel cab hilux and really have the ****s with the traction control function, just wondering has anyone worked out how to disable it.

There is a TC button in the lower section of the centre console (next to the 12v power supply plug)

press it and the TC light ont he dash will come on.

further to this - hold down the TC button for about 5 seconds. this turns off traction control and VSC which lets you drive off road in any conditions.

yep, this is the case in most toyotas with TSC/VSC... press to disable TSC, hold 5sec to disable TSC and VSC.

Hi guys, I have just bought the new double cab 4x4 Hilux 4ltr petrol and so far im pretty happy with it.

I was told at the dealer to turn the traction control off when 4wheel driving.

when in h4 I have to press the button to turn the traction control off.

when in L4 the stability automatically turns off (the light comes ON) but to turn the traction control off I have to hold the button for around 7-10secs.

Q. Should I be turning the traction control off while in L4 or leaving it on?

I didn't realy notice the difference on or off, the hilux seems to climb everything that ive attempted to go up so far without a lift kit which leads me to another problem being the exhaust that crosses over underneath the gearbox mount and hangs rather low for my liking, and would hope I can have this modified in the future.

I never bother turning T/C off in my prado unless I need to, and I have taken it off road many times.

E.g If you are on soft-ish sand, its often better to have it off as your wheels will always spin a little anyway.

a few people have told me that in 4x4 with the traction on, it will eventually stuff my diff?? I thought it worked off of the brakes.
