Short Shifter Fitting Issues

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I bought a shoft shifter recently from one of the guy over on the Corolla Club in the UK:

I also bought the brass bushes for the cables:

Right, I found out the hard way that our cars come with the same size cable bushes as the celica - the UK cars come with one large and one small bush so I could only fit one. Just as a heads up to some of you if you didn't know.

My shifter cradle was more like the TWM layout:

The short shifter fitted ok but have a look at picture 9 - the shaft that's attached to the "ball" of
the shifter goes through a plastic housing. Mine still fitted ok but the hole where this leg slides through might have been worn a little bit causing the shifter to still have a little play in it when you wiggle it from side to side. From looking at the fitting guide that he provided there's a spring which keeps this leg from moving around at all the cradle layout looks completely different. I see the version he provided is actually good as the spring in the cradle helps to stop any play in the shifter. Mine is still pretty loose though.

This is the fitting guide he sent me:

Did anyone fit a short shifter kit and have that slightly loose side to side movement still happening?

Cheers
