Hi everyone

Was wondering if someonce could advise me on my options as I've seem to have lost my spare key to my TRD Aurion 07 (3500SL). I've read a couple of earlier posts about people buying a key off ebay and getting it programmed through a Toyota dealer or themselves. Would this be an option for me as mine is a keyless push to start car/key?

Its annoying as I know its most likey in the house somewhere but Ive checked everywhere and can't find it, and would Toyota charge me roughly >$400 for a new one? I'm also not sure with these keyless smart entry keys if there's a master or not and how to tell.

Cheers

Bryce

Buying the keys from Ebay is a gamble. lots of them are used keys and you can have issues with getting them coded to your car. If you are going to look for a key over seas check to make sure the FCC number on the back is the same.

Also call a couple of locksmiths, they might be able to to it a little cheaper than a dealer.

Hey Bryce,

See if you can get a part number from the dealership and order it online. Programming is easy if you have buy a Techstream cable on eBay. Used keys aren't reprogrammable without a lot of difficulty.

Don't always expect your car to work after using these cheap programmers, the way they work isn't the greatest and when things go wrong it's not cheap... As the seller for this one is only reselling chinese crap you won't be getting any technical support, what about if it does go wrong, is their insurance going to cover the thousands of dollars to fix it?

I know it's going to cost more but I'd just go with Toyota or a lock smith. Get a genuine key from a lock smith and if you can do it yourself great, if not get Toyota to so it doesn't go wrong.

I do believe though that you have to have all keys with you as it wipes the old ones, so might be advisable to just have one last search.

Retrace your steps, where did you have it last and what did you do with it after that?

I remember when I had my au, I got a new key pad, and gave my old one to me sister inlaw.

What I didn't realise was the key pad keeps it's memory, so you program the car to the key not the key to the car.

Anyway it kept my car in its memory, and her car.

So when she unlocked her car, it unlocked mine as well.

When she popped her boot mine popped too.

It was kinda cool when she hit the panic button though because they both went off haha.

My sister has my au now and I have still got the remote :P

BOOM!

I decided to try the ODB programming tool on eBay, along with a FOB I found there. I was able to add another FOB for less than $200. I still need to get the key cut, which I was told could be done for a bout $38.

The instructions on the eBay listing (See link above) didn't work but I did end up getting it to work. I simply plugged in the ODB module, I sat there rereading the instructions and it went through the beeps without me using the START button; all within 10 secs.

The SEC light starting blinking, I placed the two FOBs on the START button within five seconds of one another, waited another 10 Secs and SEC started blinking continuously. I depressed the driver door pin-switch, as if the door was closed, released and tested both FOBs. I made sure the original FOB wasn't detected by placing it a long way off, everything works with new FOB.

One more thing, when I ordered the FOB, I was told I would be sent FCC ID: HTQ12AAB IC:1551A-14AAB but was actually sent CMII ID: 2005DJ1817 Model: 14AAS-01 (See image). I was not happy but they assured me it would work, and it did.
