Home made rev limiter for carby motors

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have had a read of afew forums in regards to this, but I need to know if anyone who has done this has had anything go wrong.

Basically (from wat I understand) if you have an old style tacho with the shift light, you can wire it up a certain way and it make a rev limiter for a carby engine.

If anyone has any info in regards to the i would appreciate it very much.

I am considering doing this to my 87 corolla that has a 4ac engine.

My main concern is damaging the internals of the engine.. Do u think there would be anything that would be at risk of breaking?

This is the shift light in the tacho.

Next time you have it flat stick, turn ignition off whilst foot is buried in the carpet still in gear, then turn key back on and be prepared for the biggest back fire as all you are going to achieve is ignition cutout but unburnt fuel will still be drawn in

Also known as a "key-banger"
