Hi all,

I was wandering what afermarket back boxes you use?

Do you have dynos of gains?

Are they loud?

Or maybe it;s not worth changing the muffler as far as performance gains?

Thanks for answers.

As other people have also said, the stock exhaust is very finely tuned so most exhaust mods will end up losing power.

My friend changed the muffler on his Type R integra and the dyno showed it actually lost 4kw at the wheels. (Similar theory 1.8 with VTEC)

So i would leave it alone, unless you want a certain look or sound and dont mind losing a kW here or there.

Thats my opinion anyway....

i didn't lose any power with my rear muff. i think it helped with the gains that i got with my CAI coz the gains were massive. for just a CAI. but like i said b4, its fairly loud for just a rear muff.

So, could you send me or post dyno results? Or just give some before/after figures for KW and NM.

i already had the rear muff when the car was delivered. but dynoed at the same time against danthuyers the gains wasn't significant (0.2kw?!) the only difference was the curve itself where on the low end of lift is a bit less but peaks quicker and maintains peak power on a plateau rather than tapering off.

then it was dynoed with the CAI b4 and after the extractors were put on. danthuyer also dynoed with just CAI but no exhaust mods done and the jump i had was significantly more this time. at the moment with the extractors, there isn't anymore gains and i suspect the stock ECU is prolly at the limit to what it can do.

but overall i think the rear muffler has helped and is prolly more of a complimentary mod that helps the rest along rather than provide a gain itself.

at least i'd like to think that!! :P

on the other hand, i don't think its worth changing the pipes in the middle, coz unless lots of money is spent the gains don't quite justify the cost where the stock pipe is already pretty good.

Next monday I'll publish the following dynos:

Stock 2zzge

2zzge + KN filter panel

2zzge + TRD CAI

2zzge + TRD CAI + custom exhaust

2zzge + TRD CAI + ECU remap thru diag. socket

2zzge + TRD CAI + custom exhaust + ECU remap thru diag. socket

All in european corolla t-sport

So wait with mods ;)

damn! that's going to be like a whole day at the dyno place man.

it's gonna be dyno..then work work work...dyno then work work work.

i reckon it's worth all the trouble.

Then you REALLY know what you're getting and if it was worth doing the mod.

Can't wait to see how it all goes.

Thats gonna be done on 2 cars, that previously tested the same (189,5 bhp) stock.

So a little less work ;)

Will be interested to find out the results of (2zzge + TRD CAI + ECU remap thru diag. socket) cos that's what I plan to get done to my car. I think that I like the exhaust the way it is.

Any chance of testing the results with extractors as well?

Not this summer. TRD extractors are extermely expensive here in Europe, plus DC is developing extractors for our engine. They gonna be US$270, so dirt cheap compared to TRD, giving the same gains.
