Hi,

While I was driving there was a huntsman spider crawling inside the windscreen then to the dashboard and disappeared into the top dashboard vent.

I am not scared of a huntsman spider as they are harmless creature but I just don't want to it will create a problem down the track or having more babies spider while in there.

As the car is only 1 year old and I always keep the car immaculate just like when I bought it brand new but now it's got a huntsman living inside the aircond duct.

Does anyone know how to get rid of it or will it reate a problem down the track if I just forget about it?

Thanks very much.

I have two suggestions...

1. Burn the car to the ground.

2. Remove the cabin filter(behind the glovebox) and spray bug spray down the air intake cowl at the rear of the bonnet with the fan running.

If you do a Google search to get rid of spiders, you will find to use either white vinegar or peppermint oil.

These are sprayed into the vents. Suggest doing this overnight a few times.

I have a simpler idea that doesn't require anything else.

start the car

turn the temperature to hot

recycle air

fan on max

a/c off

cycle through the outlets at regular intervals, say every 5 minutes.

once the air gets hot, if it's still in there it won't be for long.

on a side note: spraying things into your vents may create more issues then the spider so I would avoid doing this.

if you must spray something, then use a product that's not going to go sticky or leave a residue, like windex for example.

Thanks Prodigy,

I've done that a few times.

My biggest worry is if it will cause any damage or problem with that size spider inside the a/c ducts.

How big is it?

i don't think it will eat anything as such, there is not much in the hvac system it can damage. There is just ducts, vents, flaps, a filter, a heater core, an evaporater.

so really the only components it could damage is the heater core and evaporater if it tried to stick its legs through it or lay eggs, the flaps it won't damage as such but may obstruct them, and the filterbit may block or tear but unlikely.

did you get it out?

The biggest issue is it living/coming out and spooking you while driving.

Yeah, I must say if that happened to me I'd just sell it or burn it.

i can't deal with spiders, the give me the heebeegeebies so bad, I scream and run.
