Wrongfully Defected?

Recommended Posts

According to the manual. The Front Fog Lights are 55W H11 Halogen bulbs for the facelift model. Interestingly enougth the Manual also says that the high and low beam bulbs are the same type and wattage (55W H7). These are for the Hatch, the Sedans high beam is listed as a 60W HB3. These are all straight from the manual I haven't actually pulled the bulbs out to have a look though 'cause I can't be bothered.

i honestly dont understand why i see so many people driving with the foglights on when its isnt foggy?! after reading all this talk about it being illegal, then going out and seeing people on a perfectly clear night go and keep their foggiez on... its infuriating!

that and the fact i dont have foggiez installed givez me the sh!ts. argh

I personally think foggies should be wired to the highbeam switch.... there are WAY too many ppl driving with them turned on during normal clear weather. I find it quite distracting (both oncoming and behind)...

Its even worse when its on those hugh ppl movers that sit higher than normal cars and they have them on.

i agree with SB, has anyone actually pulled out their foglight bulbs before?? i'm assuming not, so i'll let u all know that the bulbs are HB4's, in other words HIGH BEAM. therefore brighter than normal lights, therefore illegal.

but i still drive with mine on :P

thats isn't necessarily true about hb4s as my old 93 integra had hb4s as low beams and was stated to be the correct one in the manual.

From memory the "handbook" states it is only a guide and can't be used as a reference to law. I remember seething this when looking this "fog light" law up before but my friend and I could not find any written reference online about this so called "fog light law".

Please could someone post an official link where I can get a copy of this law in writing as I would like a lawyer friend to have a look over it, as I have not seen or heard of this law officially in written before and would like a legal answer to end this matter once and for all :-)

Would be great if we can’t find it in writing, then we have something to keep in our cars for when coppers pull us over! heheheheh

Cheers

Hmm, annoying and distracting have different definitions. Let's see. A beautiful girl on the side of the road flashing me her boobs while I am driving is distracting, yes, but DEFINITELY not annoying.

Regarding fog lights, it's just plain annoying because it is something that is so obviously illegal, yet people still leave them on when driving.

Just because you have them does not mean you need to have them on all the time !!

pg 101 http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/downlo...ruh_english.pdf

While you are there, please read pg 94 - Never leave children in a parked vehicle...

You dont need your lawyer friend to read anything, mainly because he will charge you an arm and a leg .. just read the pdf above, from the RTA site. Quite clear fog lights in non-adverse conditions = illegal

Then I have probably flashed you with my high beams LOL

Just be careful though. There are lots of signs stating that a $74.95 fine applies to drivers that have their fog lights on and not in adverse conditions.

Unless your car is in a constant photoshoot I say keep them off. Don't get me wrong - I like the fog light look. If it was legal, I'd have mine on too.

I'm with Les. I also like the look of the fog lights when they are on, but I turn them off because of the crack down on drivers that use them all the time.

And like I said before George, I warned you all about this at the last meet, I also then saw 70% of the cars behind me proceed to drive with them on (and SyxXPaC deciding not to use lights at all until he left the car park :P ). If any of you get picker up for driving with them on without a VALID excuse you have no pitty from me... you have been forwarned, what more do you want. That's like jumping head 1st into a river man...

I was running in stealth mode :P haha

nar i drive to work in early mornings with lots of fog so i use the lights. Sometimes i forget to turn the foggies off when nighttime comes. They are bright but they do point down quite a bit.

I just always have them on because I like people to be able to see me. Even though I have a red car people still seem to cut out in front of me and nearly T-bone me. Drivers in Canberra are either good, or very very bad.

They were doing it to me even in my other car, the escort...which has no foggies.

The foggies stay on...nar nar :P

EDIT:

Waiiit wait wait wait.

I've decided to turn them off now unless it's foggy, but only 'cause Les is cool...

(Not 'skateboard trick' cool, but better, like...'fonzy' cool...yeah)

foggies are there for looks IMO because true fog lights that u use to see in the fog are YELLOW,

toyota came out with these lights as not pure yellow - which does nothing in the fog.

I dont find fog lights annoying at all and i drive with them on all the time.
