The install was seamless and is near invisible :) at least it will once the install facia arrives

The headunit has VGA+USB connectivity for the touchscreen, and RCA inputs for the VGA sound inputs too, so what I see from the computer goes through the cars sound system.

The DVD drive is powered from the ciggy lighter and connects to USB also.

I've been having some issues loading songs that are on the hard drive into the centrafuse front end, it recognises CDs and DVDs alright and loads them right up, but I'm wanting to load the ones from my hard drive into it... oh well, I'm sure I'll find the way it's done soon.

I'll update on specifics of the components soon, as it's late and I need sleep but enjoy :)

Looking good Dylan. Can I ask roughly what sort of money it has cost you, out of curiosity....

Yep, that's the one... though I 'only' got a 100GB hard drive.

The computer was US$550 plus US$69.95 postage (worked out to just over AUS$800) and was delivered in 4 days from the US :blink::blink: I've bought stuff locally that took longer to be delivered...

The head unit I payed $670 delivered from Brash Imports. I could have bought cheaper over e-bay but they only had the black ones available, and I wanted silver which also meant I had to wait a couple of weeks to get it, as they only make a limited run of silvers each time.

dylan what version of centrafuse are you using?

at the moment I'm just using the trial version

yeh but what version? RC1, RC2, RC3, RC4??

Posted

I think it's Version RC4.2

I D/L it a couple of weeks ago so not sure if there was an update since then.

I'll check it tonight.

Very nice setup there Dylan. Very impressed.

Im thinking about doing a project like that with my laptop I have lying around, but dont have the time at the moment.

it's actually RC4.1 I have

I think the problem is a rushed through the install when I put in on because I didn't have any files installed at the time. When I receive the GPS receiver I'll install RC4.2 and make sure I do everything properly this time.

ahhhh

just checked on mp3car.com and uploading or lack of from the hard drive is a known bug fixed in 4.2 :D

meh... I'm learning, I've only had it 2 days :P

and WTF is RTFM?

dylan, you have to learn to

Read

The

F$@#ing

Manual!!

:yahoo:

but seriously - im loving it... its about time i updated my own carputer thread...

I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A CARPUTER SECTION!!! :yahoo:

updated to 4.2 and it all works sweet :)

554 songs :) and that's only 1/2 of them so far

shame the inbuilt GPS does not have Australian maps though. Is it worth using the earlier versions to be able to use the GPS?

My fascia arrived for my headunit which has neatened up my dash no end. I'll need to modify the CD rack slot to fit my DVD drive as it's not deep enough, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue, will just need to chop and glue a few things :)

The downside is the Aerpro fascia kit I bought for the '03-'05 corolla doesn't fit the air con vents properly, so I need to dremmil around the top corners of the thing for it to fit properly. I spent 2 hours cutting and shaping to try and fit it last night using hand tools but in the end it was too hard. I'll take the dremmil tool home from uni and give that a bash :)

I'll take some pics and put them up tonight.
