my last job we had a cheff every friday come in and cook us lunch, from seafood to marinated ribs to pastas but nothing even close to googles efforts, but the pay was realy sucky.

why cant bosses see that the happier the worker the more effecient the worker. ;)

guys i should probably note that getting into google isnt the easiest thing 2 do which is why it doesnt surprise me that they have these perks.

One of my mates just got hired by them but the process was crazy

1st was obviously the short listing via the agencies

2nd was the short listing by the client from the resume's

3rd was a test which is a general IQ/personality type thing of which i imagine the employer has a particular type of person they are after .... i did one of these for my current job and there is no right answer so it all depends on what the employer is looking for.

4th a phone interview

5th a face 2 face interview in their head office in the US which lasts 7 hrs .... yes thats right a 7 hr interview where he got grilled for every nitty gritty detail regarding the job he was going for.

So good on them for rewarding their employee's

Could you imagine all the other companies trying to headhunt google's staff?

Seriously how can you match perks like that. Companies go down because people leave and go to the competitor.... thats something i think google is genuinely concerned about. So by giving perks like these encourages people to stay.... and with that intellectual property stays too.

with the money they spend for everyday perks can you imagine what the xmas break up would be like :blink:
